Cleveland: Retail News
Why won't Forest City get a mall managament co.? They own the Westfield San Francisco Centre, which is HUGE and of course a very different market, but has some similarities to TC. Don't they see the benefit in Westfield (or another company) running the retail conponant?

EXACTLY. As someone who came from out of state, I don't understand the negativity or low self esteem.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Well I think that space north of the Browns Stadium really needs this. Right now you walk down there and are met with some port buildings, the huge parking lot, and its all fenced off and there are what seems like millions of seagulls covering the buildings. If a hotel or something was built there it would be right on the lakefront, I think there's a lot of potential.

Cleveland Trust Rotunda - Part 2
Absolutely incredible... the fact that it is in such pristine condition is great but like everyone here has said, too bad it just sits there empty. Hopefully not for too much longer. Has whoever is maintaining this building ever cleaned the facade, I wonder? The outside does not match the immaculate interior...

Cleveland: Calfee Building (Rockwell and East 6th)
Walked by today and took some pictures. They have new signage up on the front and sides, and the parking garage continues to be under construction. It looked like they were pouring concrete while I walked by.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
Too bad they couldn't save the building but at LEAST it won't be a complete loss, if the "salvaging of the façade" works...

Cleveland: Hotel Development
:) Sorry I was just excited! Thanks mytwosense for checking into this. I remember there were already detailed plans regarding this property when it was still going to be a Westin including interior features etc. I wonder if it IS going to be a LM will they just use the existing plans or modify for the new brand.

Cleveland: Downtown & Vicinity Residences Discussion
Where the Holiday Express is currently located? I thought we heard that someone said the Holiday Inn Express was shutting down. In a way, that makes some of the new hotel projects easier to finance and injects increased residential life on lower Euclid Ave. Sounds great to me. It was said on another thread that the hotel closed for "rebranding" but nothing has been confirmed, not even the closure of the hotel. I havnt heard anything else about it. The National City building is confusing me. There is, I believe a plaque on both Euclid (right next to the Holiday Inn) and East 6th, on the side of the Garfield Building, that say it is the Old National City Bank Building. Does this building wrap around the Garfield? Or are they one in the same. If you look on Euclid the building containing the Holiday Inn is distinctly different than the Guardian.

Cleveland: Jack Cleveland Casino
Well that'll be me...! Ive only lived here for 4 years so I never experienced Higbees nor have I even set foot in the building. I'm so excited just to SEE IT!

Is the Garfield the same as the old National City now PNC bank? I get that cluster of buildings confused. The Baker sits right behind the 515 parking garage. If your looking at it from Euclid.

Cleveland: Downtown: John Hartness Brown Buildings / Euclid Grand
Was this ever confirmed? I know it was mentioned as a possibility. I really hope it happens, how great for Cleveland that would be!!

Cleveland: Jack Cleveland Casino
Looks good! Is it too late to scrap the casino and make it a department store again??? Just kidding... Inside looks nice actually, I like the historical touches that remain

Cleveland: Marketing the City
I definitely understand the concerns about particularly aggressive panhandlers but the way some people describe the homeless problem downtown makes it sound like there are armies of beggars wandering the streets waiting to accost passersby at all hours of the day. I grew up going to San Francisco regularly and right in the midst of thousands of pedestrians in the most high-profile areas there are always homeless people, panhandlers, beggars, and mentally unstable people that are sometimes aggressive! Just bringing out that I saw more homeless there in one afternoon than I've ever seen in Cleveland the whole time I've lived here. Unfortunately that is just an aspect of city-life, some cities have a bigger problem than others. In my opinion our problem is fairly small.

Cleveland: Hotel Development
The Holiday Inn Express no longer has a website... HI is owned by InterContinental group... we already have an IC plus an IC suites but I was doing some investigating and I see another brand they own is Indigo; a boutique hotel brand. Supposedly "each Hotel Indigo property is designed to reflect the culture, character and history of the surrounding neighbourhood. Many of them are in converted buildings." This also happens to be the brand that was going to be in the Ameritrust tower, but that fell through. I'm guessing their concept would fit the building, but of course Im just speculating on what might be going on there, plus I'm thinking that would mean a total remodel.

Cleveland: Hotel Development
I read somewhere that the Renaissance Hotel is renovating all 491 rooms as well as the club lounge, which started January 1 and will continue through March. Anyone know if this is true?
