The Skywalks are a difficult section according to the project managers. The streetcar wire will actually come down a bit more than normal (tighter squeeze) under here. Generally it's about 19 feet above the ground. Under the Skywalks it shrinks to around 18 feet and change, meaning the pantograph will have to adjust downward, then back up.

Cincinnati: Oakley: Oakley Station
This entire page is a thread about a different neighborhood. The word Oakley appears in only one comment, and it's not the primary subject. I am impressed... So.. back to Oakley Station. Has anyone seen if the expanded Apartments have begun construction yet? I've heard that the office user section may be announced in the next month or so.

Cincinnati: Madisonville: Development and News
I completely agree. Would I want to live there? No. Would it fill up and add hundreds of residents to the edge of Madisonville. Yes. Does it mean Madisonville can't do its own development a couple blocks away in the Business district? Absolutely not.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Dennison Hotel Demolition
Swapalease is in BlueAsh Other quotes from a BizCourier expose on the family: - “We are a very involved ownership group,” said Greg Joseph, 49, who spends most of his time at Camargo Cadillac in Montgomery. - “Each of us has responsibility over a dealership or two, but we help each other in all aspects of the business,” said George Joseph, 47, whose main office is at the company’s Toyota dealership on Colerain Avenue. According to E*Trade their corporate address is: 8733 Colerain Avenue Cincinnati, OH 45251

Also, the Joseph family sued the City & the owners of the Chiquita building claiming they could prevent a Nielson sign from being added to the building. They want no signage on the building, which is bizarre. Thankfully, they lost the suit.

Do they actually employ a lot of people in Cincinnati? Where is that suggestion coming from? I think they only employ a handful of parking lot attendants. The rest of their property is in the suburbs.

Cincinnati: Parking Modernization
Jskinner[/member] Please send that as an email to [email protected]. It can be 5 sentences, but it would be very helpful. As of right now, Council has received ZERO (maybe 1) complaints about the pay stations, despite the fact that I've seen dozens of complaints on Next Door and Facebook. Also, as a heads up- Paystations cost about $3000 each and can cover about 6-8 meters in space. Individual credit card Meters cost about $900 each. Do the math, and you realize why they are moving to pay stations. Also, this is the key. If there are signs on the block that are green and say Pay to Park, you must pay. If there are no signs on the entire block, then you do not need to pay, and the pay station is likely there for future use, but hasn't been turned on yet.

That is a good question. I don't know. I think it would be for anywhere...

Cincinnati: Parking Modernization
When the app comes out (June) you can walk away from where ever you parked and just pay online. No need to put something on your dash, etc. Also, for all of downtown and OTR at 5PM you can pay unlimited hours (aka to 9PM).

Cincinnati: State of Downtown
While it seems like they might go... It should be reminded that they are one of the only long term stay. Each unit has a kitchen, etc. One of the two new hotels in the Enquirer building is a direct competitor in that aspect.

Ohio Designated Outdoor Refreshment Areas (DORA / Open Container)
We keep hearing about these "facts" that open container districts reduce drunkenness. Can we get some stats on that?

Ohio Designated Outdoor Refreshment Areas (DORA / Open Container)
Indy's open container is actually the exact opposite of this proposal. This proposal is, you must buy alcohol from a business within in the district. Indy's is you can't carry alcohol from one bar to the outside. Ohio's will make it illegal to bring your own alcohol into the district. Indy's is essentially only for that purpose. Very interesting.

Portland's streetcar ends at 11:30, and their peak ridership is 11AM to 7PM. While it may seem like this awesome idea to have it go to 2AM, many places have seen that you really just don't get a huge amount of ridership. I go to Rhinegeist a lot, like maybe once a week, and yet I think i've been there past 1am maybe 2 times? I'd say having the system end at 1AM gets a lot of the late people, but that you don't need to go to 2AM if the money isn't there. That one hour difference is 104 service hours per year. 1 week is about 116 service hours, so you're talking about almost an entire additional week's worth of service, so that bar hoppers can get home in that last hour. Also, frequency is the most important thing in a circulator. If you run the system every 30 minutes from 12 to 2 am, youre talking about 4 trips. If you walk outside and just miss the streetcar, you're waiting 5-12 minutes, you're not waiting 30 minutes- you're going to end up walking or something else. I do think, however, the system can save money by running 9AM-10PM on Sunday instead of 6AM-10PM. That's a whole lot of extra hours that could go to increased service during peak hours (11AM-7PM).

Ohio Designated Outdoor Refreshment Areas (DORA / Open Container)
The trash associated with open container districts is immense. All the cups have to be disposable, since no one is letting you take glass out of their restaurant. Trashcans will be overflowing even more than they already do. Can't wait!!

Ohio Designated Outdoor Refreshment Areas (DORA / Open Container)
It's not going to happen in OTR. It will happen at the Banks, and maybe an uptown area. OTR Community Council is on record opposing it.
