Can you give me more background on this please. If it's considered off topic in a message would be great. I think I could get a story written on the subject

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
OCtoCincy replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentFireside didn't get money for the restaurant. They got money to renovate the building into apartments and a storefront. The restaurant part is privately funded to my understanding.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Encore
And we're talking about tax dollars, not private dollars. The City has authorized around $75 million in new parking garage subsidies in the last 3 years. Imagine if we'd just given $75 million to SORTA instead?

2014 TIGER grants came out, Wasson Way didn't win.

Cincinnati didn't even apply because of Cranley/Anti-Streetcar people. Considering how much Detroit got for their system, I'd bet we DEFINITELY would have gotten the Phase 2 planning money we wanted.

Gotcha. At the southend the street has a solid concrete tub like feature, but that is contra to the direction of travel anyway. Not sure if they'll replicate on the north end. They seem to be pretty tightly packed so we'll have to see. If they give the north end a bathtub lip of concrete then I don't think anything can move at all.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Encore
This garage is a huge waste of money.... UNLESS the apartment project actually happens.

yes, and I would bet the Texas location was similarly located near a major airport. Back To The OTR...

Awesome! that building was too unique/cool to be empty for so long. Thrilled it's full.

Time Warner was moving their above-ground cables on Race Street this week. I should have clarified. The completion date, has been delayed by 2 weeks, not the start date. I think they are just going a lot slower than was expected.

So if you rent an apartment in OTR along the streetcar line you do not get a vote? Only property owners get votes. That's true of all SID's including the one downtown already. For folks wondering what HOA does, I would just ask someone living in one of the Downtown HOA's

I would assume much better. That street had gotten HORRIBLE in how much of it was sinking & collapsing. It's never going to be smooth because those are belgian blocks, not cobblestone and they aren't nearly as smooth as brick or pavers, etc. but they should now be stable and last a long long time.

I'm surprised Pendleton is included, but it would be great for them to get Safe & Clean. Interestingly, I would expect Part of the west end to be so close to the streetcar that they should participate. Everything east of John St is closer than Pendleton is

^ very exciting. According to the weekly update, everything seems to be moving forward as planned with the exception of Time warner cable overhead utility adjustment and underground utility installation. It's been delayed about 2 weeks. Thankfully, that has no major issues with the project timing and is incredibly minor. They need the wires out of the way before Catenary wire is installed, which I am guessing for the OTR loop won't occur until late next summer at the soonest.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Terrace Plaza Hotel
The concern i heard was that the new owner doesn't have a good plan, doesn't have a tenant in line, and may run out of money. It's had some water damage issues as well. It's not about to collapse or anything, but it's huge and needs a lot of work and no one is clamoring to do anything with it. And a lot of people consider it ugly.

Cincinnati: Bicycling Developments and News
We barely have any bike racks. We are just lucky in that we still have tons of meters and haven't gone to pay stations :) Also, I agree that as the City spent $1.1 million you'd think someone would be talking about bike share operations... but I'm not too worried. They'll figure it out. I will say, you guys should tweet @cincyredbike and recommend other station locations. I'm sure after a few months they'll want to move some things and that will help them figure out where else to consider.

The liberty & Race street stop has been hit as well. The issue is: drivers are idiots, and the stops need small reflectors on the corner facing traffic. Any other time you'd have an object protruding into the ROW you'd have a reflector on it. Not anything fancy, but something noticeable at night.

EVERYONE. Please heed this advice. BUT- If you see graffiti or damage, DO NOT TAKE A PICTURE AND POST IT TO FACEBOOK. This is how these types of stories get spread. The Enquirer is too understaffed to walk around and see if every shelter is broken. The tv media just repeats what the enquirer writes that night You should immeidately Direct message tweet John Deatrick. or email him at [email protected] with details of the issue. He will make sure it is fixed right away.

POLITELY- in a purely informative way, tweet at the author of the article. He's very reasonable. Say something like, Bobby Maly has been a huge streetcar advocate for years (he has).

Dick's isn't even the top tenant at Newport Pavilion. With a Cabela's & bass pro-shops opening in WestChester, why would a Dick's be a draw to anyone? There are 9 Dick's in the region already.

Cranley proposing $300-400 per year OTR parking permits for all residents. All streets would be either metered or residential parking permit. People in poverty would be free. John- While every line has been successful, has any line opened where the mayor is working every single day to make it a failure? The goal here is to have it be an ugly mess so that in 2015 he can pass a strong mayor initiative that gives him all the power of the manager and to elect an anti-streetcar person to council to replace winburn. Sitting around going, don't worry, in 2016 people will enjoy the streetcar may not be the best strategy when we need to elect a good person in 2015 and not allow strong mayor to pass.
