  1. For the hotel on the bridge project?! Dear god.
  2. ^someone earlier announced that was recently budgeted for later this summer. Pretty sure it wasn't even officially part of the plan until a few weeks ago. Also, not sure how you would make 14th two way considering it's one lane of parking and one lane of driving. 15th on the other hand is twice as wide and could be easily two-way.
  3. Somewhere out there tr City has already Posted operating revenue sources. Pretty sure advertising was a couple hundred thousand, no idea how much of that is interior versus exterior. Also, I love those mock ups! Great work.
  4. I've heard Tom Luken is going nuts that the company is Spanish and not uhmerican. He seems to ignore the fact they are assembled in Elmira NY and that most of the bridges his driver takes him over are made with Chinese steel.
  5. EXACTLY. You know what else is difficult? Riding over rocks or pieces of wood. Until you learn how to safely avoid them. 8th and state- going SLOWLY over railroad tracks is MORE dangerous. You were implying "I was even going slowly and I fell!". Of course. That's WHY you fell. If you were perpendicularly crossing the tracks at a regular speed (or diagonally at a decent angle) you would have been fine. Can this silly "streetcars kill cyclists" conversation be wrapped up now? Any word on construction? Water main work seems to be moving along pretty well! Is there more work like that that can be done without duke?
  6. ^ thank you Jake. For a second I thought we were gonna have to deal with bicyclists protesting the streetcar tracks.
  7. I heard 5/3's air rights expire in 2013. But I'd expect city officials would extend it indefinitely unless someone comes forward with a better plan. A nearby disappointment is the giant 1960's Pogue garage. Its HUGE. Does nothing for the neighborhood, and is so crappy that it's rarely full. If that were torn down and replaced with 70% as many parking spaces, but designed to include residents & moved some parking underground we'd see significantly more investment in underutilized spaces like Fountain Place & tower Place. That would greatly compliment 3CDC's work at the Square & now 5th & Race. Unfortunately its privately owned by someone who doesn't care so 3CDC and the City have little leverage there.
  8. I wouldn't pay $75 a month to be kicked out of my space for random Wednesday afternoon games in the summer.
  9. ^ businesses/monthly pass holders cannot use the Riverfront garages on game days.
  10. Highly unlikely. Let's count the numbers: Dunnhumby expects 1000 employees in 2 years at this site. You can guess that means 800 spaces needed at any given time by them. They are likely putting three stories underground with 1-2 stories above ground. Fountain square garage, for comparison, is 600 spaces. Add required parking for 150 apartments Add ~75 retail/restaurant employees. Add 100 shoppers/downtown patrons busting the site or things near by. We just counted demand for about 1200 spaces on that site alone. Definitely won't be space for anything above Macy's. So sad they didn't add underground parking there originally.
  11. So is ODOT paying the full cost of moving the utilities 8 feet from all vehicular traffic for safety? I still don't get their argument. I heard their top PR guy on 700WLW saying workers needed to be 8 feet away so they don't get hit by a giant multi ton vehicle. I drove within inches of a Duke workers head YESTERDAY.
  12. I'm talking about the widening of Colerain between Virginia & Leeper in Northside.
  13. Duke is moving utilities along Colerain for street widening. City is not paying for the movement of utilities. Why isn't COAST mad?
  14. So start a letter writing campaign to the owners in California? If I owned a dilapidated property in some random City and got 20 letters saying DO something! It might make me think twice. There's nothing the City can do but condemn it. Their property taxes are all paid up so I doubt the county cares.
  15. Pretty sure the Kroger idea is dead. I heard from some friends it was never going to be a full service Kroger anyway, but that they considered a Kroger "minimart" type place. All my sources still say yes to residential & that multiple developers are vying for the project. This will be adjacent to the office space, above some parking. I'm hearing: 3 stories underground parking. 2 stories of retail 1-2 floors of parking above ground and then 5 stories of office with option for more office at a later date.
  16. ^ I would doubt it would be bad. I think the release I saw said something about about extensive partnership between city & state.
  17. Announcement at Dunnhumby with Kasich tomorrow at 11:30am
  18. Just to be clear, 18 Mulberry is in no way about to be torn down. The GARAGE at 18 Mulberry is 2 walls with a collapsed roof & 2 missing walls. That is what the nuisance order is on.
  19. As a side note, i recently read that SORTA is currently applying for federal funds to create a BRT line from near Kenwood to downtown past Xavier following Montgomery to Gilbert Someone earlier was mentioning the Montgomery corridor as a possible streetcar line.
  20. Hmmmmm.... Very interesting. Does anyone know if demolition permits have been applied for?
  21. ^ the developer is not going to spend a dime, move a building, or do anything else to accommodate a Streetcar.
  22. ^ yikes. Just noticed Cleveland isn't on that list. Great news for Cincy though.
  23. Wait, seriously?
  24. ^agreed.
  25. $1.40 a month per person sounds like a convincing argument for regional transit to me. This is either an incredibly sarcastic or incredibly foolish statement.
