If a dozen other cities with sewers can access a manhole near a streetcar line I'm sure we'll be fine.

Btw- On UrbanCincy COAST is threatening a new lawsuit. Somebody must be low on cash!!! Rent is probably due- Hyde Park properties aren't cheap!

Smitherman & Winburn are way worse- but I will say that Sittenfeld still does not support the streetcar. Only he, Smitherman & Winburn refused to attend the press conference.

Tom is referencing the fact that State Law made it illegal to pass any money, of any source, to the streetcar. Unfortunately for Tom, this money never passes through the states, and instead goes directly to the local municipality. EDIT: just noticed someone already said this.

^ which triangle piece of land? The parking lot? Because that's Actually what the front lawn is - that lot will be gone and Broadway will be vacated. Eggleston will become 2-way. Or perhaps you meant the one at the reading CPkway split- but I'm pretty sure that's too small. It's a tiny park. And while i totally agree it would be great to have a triangle building on such a unique plot, but it was county owned, the casino traded free parking to the jail and then bought the land at value, and we have way bigger surface lots that are having trouble being developed (5th & race). :(

Just got confirmation from a friend who works as a consultant with the Casino, main proposed casino site is Center of plot against Court St. Touching both casino & Parking structure (in current map it has a roundabout etc.). That's a much better site- perhaps it could spur development of the parking lot behind the flatiron building.

I can't imagine what some of you would do in NYC, London, Madrid, or any other City filled with all kinds of crazy architecture, some good, some bad. There are WAY uglier buildings in Cincinnati to give a damn about. Think, almost anything built in the 70's. ___________________________________ the windows in the Metropole were about 30-40 years old. Like Sherman said, nothing special at all. Also, apartment windows & hotel windows are traditionally very different.

The Greyhound idea is possible... but when looking at the aerial footage of the site, there is the giant parking structure, and then a massive surface lot at the back... That is a huge amount of space (almost the same size as the parking structure itself) to just keep using as a surface lot. I'm pretty confident they would fix up some kind of walkway into the casino across the garage space. --------- the main reasons for the front lawn are because: That parking lot that is currently there is "ugly" and since it was owned by the county and used for Jail parking, it would never have been developed upon (also a tricky site, not interesting to today's developers). County traded free parking for the same number of spaces (actually, I think even MORE spaces) in the new Casino garage plus then paid for the land. Also, "events spaces" are all the rage....

I think the point is if the Bartlett is done as "Luxury" apartments or condos- Say, in the vein of Park Place, the type of resident they will be attracting is likely 50-60 year old empty nesters moving back into the city after living primarily in the suburbs. They are the type who would want cars. If they do a mid-price range units- nice, nothing too fancy- but similar to the banks quality, targeting mainly YP's, then you could get away with requiring people to pay for parking at a nearby lot.

You mean will have to pay $75 if they want a space, or will have to pay for a space if they want an apartment? If they want a space.
