Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
To be clear, the owner is the Owner of the former Circle A. A horrible establishment the city shut down 2 years ago.

Cincinnati: Uptown: UC Athletic Facilities
BORING. This won't be a top tier venue at all after this. They'd be better off moving to a newly renovated US Bank Arena if they want to be competitive with the big schools. This will be nice, especially since the current venue is really really bad, but it's a missed opportunity in my opinion.

There's a Cincinnati, Iowa (population 347) but I'd never heard of it until Weather.com kept insisting I get their weather updates...

Cincinnati: Downtown: Encore
^ yes. I think that corner should be four or five 6-8 story buildings. It would do well with a very neighborhood scale development.

FC Cincinnati Discussion
Well maybe this is all a back-door strategy for The Bengals to get the public to pay for upgrades to PBS. In 2020 that stadium will be 20 years old. If the upgrades are for "soccer", then it's an easier sell to the public. The lease agreement has the taxpayers paying all upgrades until 2030. They aren't worried about upgrades being funded. Once half the teams have something, the taxpayers of HC must pay for it for the bengals. The lease even says taxpayers would have to install a "hologram graphic system" if half the teams end up with one.

Louisville City FC got $580K from Louisville government to renovate locker room. Article implies they will ask for public funds for soccer stadium. Also implies 2020 is deadline for Cincinnati FC to get their own stadium. I don't see how they stay in the urban core. http://www.courier-journal.com/story/sports/soccer/louisville-city-fc/2015/05/14/usl-wants-teams-including-louisville-city-fc-in-soccer-stadiums-by-2020/27302237/

FC Cincinnati Discussion
It would be very foolish of Newport to allow a stadium to be built on the ovation grounds. Financially that would make no sense for them. Ovation is unlikely to ever get built, but that land could become a 2000 resident dense townhouse style development at a minimum, or something in the middle like a continuation of The Banks with 2 or so mid size office buildings and 3-4 6 story apartment buildings.

FC Cincinnati Discussion
They imply in the article I read that they will spend the next year or so figuring out the plans for a permanent home. Any ideas on where a permanent soccer specific stadium could be for this team that has seating for around 5,000?

Cincinnati: Pendleton: Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati
Pendleton is paying the streetcar % on its new developments already. Also, there is about $1 million in casino TIF money left, but it's slated to go towards the Ziegler renovation.

Liberty Township: Liberty Center
South Coast Plaza is in Costa Mesa, close to, but farther inland from Newport Beach. I was there this past weekend. That pedestrian bridge is great. I know it's in Costa Mesa, I used to work there. But to people outside of OC few will know where Costa Mesa is... Newport is 5 miles away- it's easier for folks to comprehend, though not entirely accurate. ?

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Mercer Commons
It's the same issue with the Peaslee Center. They were offered nearly $1 million for their parking lot, plus free parking in a new garage, and said no. Very foolish.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Bombardier is years late on the Toronto streetcar order. And both Atlanta and Tucson were delayed months by vehicle delays. These things are super complicated 80,000 pound machines. The F-35 is 15 years late and still doesn't work. A 2-3 month delay isn't that uncommon

Liberty Township: Liberty Center
Or like Newport Beach's South Coast Plaza with a massive pedestrian bridge.

Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
^ Should Mr. Dubose been arrested for his actions? Yes. Were his actions deserving of death? Absolutely not. Saying, don't perform a misdemeanor or a low level felony or else you'll die is not how our system works. Death is not an equivalent punishment to resisting arrest, not following a police order, etc. Multiple cops have said: Officer Tensing should not have reached into the vehicle or tried to open the individuals door. When Mr. Dubose began to drive away he should have called in back up to pursue the vehicle or track it down at its home address via the license plate on the back. He would have been arrested within a day and taken to jail. But he would still be alive.

Cincinnati: General Transit Thread
That is part of it. Metro routes have some of the most frequent stops I can find in any comparable transit system. There are countless parts of the City where the bus stops every single block. It's maddening and a very poor design that is not used to the extent we use it by most systems.

Cincinnati: State of Downtown
They had to put that scaffolding up because orders were written against the building for its deteriorating condition. That $0 sale was negotiated by Chris Bortz and had absolutely no clawbacks for non-development. Totally idiotic move to help some friends out.

Cincinnati: General Transit Thread
I agree that there are some "lag time" issues. A major part of fixing that during boarding is to allow All-door boarding like SFMTA has implemented on all buses. It has the ability to cut stop time in half. (which during rush hour around government square can save an entire minute at certain stops) Now, the big fear is that fare evasion will increase as there isn't someone directly watching the rear door for payments. SFTMA has seen no increase in fare evasion during their trial period and believe the benefits of the speedier system far outweigh any minor fare evasion they aren't catching. That being said, it's expensive as you need to install a second reader in the back. Another option would be cash only must go to the front, while passes could go to a reader in the back. The driver needs to then just hear one beep per person walking through, etc.

Cincinnati: General Transit Thread
LET'S TALK BUSES: How many people on here take Metro or TANK on a slightly regular basis? As in, 3 times a month or more? Which routes in general are you using. What aspects of either system do you think are the "low hanging fruit" that could be improved fairly easily?

Cincinnati: General Transit Thread
That's the point. Some people are saying that self driving cars will eventually replace transit...or rather, that we don't need to invest in transit because self-driving cars are just around the corner. If self driving cars are just around the corner... why do those same anti-transit advocates think we need to invest in wider freeways and more parking garages? Won't self driving cars fix all of that too?

Cincinnati: Downtown: Heritage Bank Center
Actually if you would read the article from the CBC which is listed and mentioned in this thread, the portion that was set aside for MLS is being taken over for the Bengals as you stated so they can have more room while it's not in use, but it also states that the Bengals would have to give back the same amount of space if professional soccer made it's way to the stadium. Now regarding MLS only allowing soccer specific stadiums is not true. Plenty of teams already play in football stadiums and the new stadium being built for the new Atlanta team will house MLB, NFL and MLS all under one roof. That price you mention of $250 million for soccer specific stadiums is also missing the mark. Montreal's was $40 million, Toyota Stadium in Texas $80 million, Columbus Crew Stadium $28.5 million and the not yet built LA stadium $150 million. These are all stadiums that have just recently been built or are going to be built. I didn't look up any others, but you can see there is really no consensus on how much it does cost to build these stadiums, but they are not high price tags as far as stadiums go. I'm sorry, you are incorrect. Only 3 of the 20 MLS teams plan to permanently stay in shared use venues. Currently, 14 of them are in soccer specific venues and three more have plans to be in soccer only stadiums by 2018 . The Atlanta shared location example is only being allowed because it's a massive $1.4 billion stadium (no baseball btw). The other two shared venues are Vancouver & Seattle. Also, you state the sections of PBS would return to soccer in the future... But you fail to mention Mike Brown has to personally approve a soccer team coming here, and he is strongly opposed. Finally-- the price. Yes, my $250 might seem a little high. But your numbers are insanely low. Miami's new stadium opening next year is $175 million. The new DC United stadium is estimated at $195 million. Atlanta's is $1.5 billion. If we got a team in 10 years, my number will be right.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Heritage Bank Center
THERE IS 0 CHANCE Cincinnati gets get an NBA team. Seattle is the top of the list. Seattle has millionaires begging the NBA for a team. They have a committee dedicated to it, etc. The NBA has even said they know Seattle would be the next City.... but they have said as of last summer there is no plan for an expansion anytime soon. Seattle's people were offering $800 million in expansion fees, relocation, construction, etc... and they were turned down. Let's stop the sillyness of Cincinnati getting an NBA team ok? It's like saying Cincinnati will be the next home to NASA. As for soccer: The County Comissioners just approved an amendment to the lease allowing the Bengals to take over the unused Soccer locker room & training area that was built into PBS. But most of all... MLS is only allowing in new teams with Soccer specific stadiums. No shared use stadiums unless they are temporary while construction happens on a new stadium. So who is going to spend $250 million on a new soccer specific stadium and where would you put it? The Bearcats should move to this new US Bank Arena because the NHL and the NBA aren't gonna come to Cincinnati.
