Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
If I didn't have so much work to do, I'd be there with a sign that says. "I can't wait to COAST to the Riverfront on the STREETCAR" Feel free to use my idea!

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
The Enquirer had a picture of it on the front page of the local section on Saturday That's what I get for only reading the website- There is only a two brief paragraph blurb online.

^ agreed. It actually wouldn't make sense for that to be a public parking lot- I'm sure it's simply for construction.

I think that sounds like a great idea! (and being able to get all of us in the streetcar would show how far this process has come). Additionally, I was at Le Poste in Clifton with my girlfriend and she saw an older gentleman she knew- Bob something... he came by to say hi, and asked where we lived, I said Clifton, she said OTR and he said- "oh great, you could hop on the trolley", we both laughed and said ya it'll be great, and he patted me on the shoulder and replied, "it'll never get built, mark my words." I can't wait till construction starts... haha

^the structure in the bottom center (just right of the white box i put) is also a CityHome townhouse.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Ya I saw all that going on- 3CDC is getting ready to start more new buildings for City Home and I believe they are using that site as a staging area. The lower block of 5 buildings were all newly constructed (the additional two above were rehabbed) and additional CityHome townhouses will be filling the empty red squares I placed. It's actually a neat little neighborhood and I suggest everyone walk up Pleasant and see how nice it will be when it's built out. I'm pretty sure that's what all that mess is about.

The first segment will happen, it's highly unlikely that anyone will be able to stop that. But as for any future extensions the city will be on it's own- Any city/county mulit-modal transit centers, etc. will not happen, nor will state funding for future extensions.

I voted pretty similarly, and I campaigned for the streetcar. Hmm- Considering Chabot said he would never seek federal support for the streetcar, Monzel is completely against it, and Kasich said the state would not support it (ie. no applications for federal grants) I'm guessing you meant you supported everyone other than these guys?

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
That's kind of hard to do when everything is in phases... First off, technically they are two separate projects... The Banks is one thing... the Riverfront Park is another- (they are loosely unified). In 2018, when they are both completely done.. there will be little to celebrate... hundreds of people will have been living at the Banks for almost 7 or 8 years by then... People will have been eating at the Lager House for about 7 years... Using half the park for 5 or 6 years... and all of the parking structures for 6 or 7 years. It won't really seem like some big grand finale ending. There will surely be small events marking the major milestones the entire way. I'll agree this is a small thing to celebrate, but what new Mehring way allows is huge... once it's torn up the actual park's spacing will be visible. It's exciting!

Nope- Not open. It's hard to see in that photo, but there are still basic fences blocking the road (all vehicles were owned/operated by the construction companies. On the other side of the bridge they were just pouring dirt into the islands. It didn't look like it was totally ready. Also, as you can see, the westbound side of the road only has one lane of cement poured..

Does anyone know if 3CDC is planning to keep/fix up the Cincinnati Color Company sign when they do rehab that building (they own it).

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
^ exactly. If I own a restaurant two blocks from the line can I not vote? If Towne Properties was owned by his uncle instead of his father would that make it different? (these are supposed to be annoying/unanswerable questions) The other thing that's so stupid about Mara (and to an extent Hortsman for being so one-sided in his reporting) is that even though he didn't vote on the issues and abstained, they are now arguing that by even participating in the discussion (which he could have done as a private citizen I suppose...) he should be removed from office!?? that's absurd. These people are nuts.

Thanks for the info- I'm having trouble finding that press release through google... could you link to it?

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Blah Blah Blah. Did anyone else see the Enquirer article where they listed the top 10 property owners along the Streetcar line? Towne Properties didn't even make it in the top 10... and number 10 was something similar to "5 properties". This whole thing is a joke. If I were Bortz I would have demanded actual guidelines. ie. how far away his properties have to be (blocks) how many is the max a company can have, etc. There is no way they would have agreed on specific numbers... This is like Park51 debate in Manhattan... people say the Islamic community center is too close... but no one actually says what distance is ok...

The streetcar will be taking you downtown to the bars and clubs before Uptown commons is finished being built :)

I agree about Apple and TJ's. A Trader Joes here would do very well.

^ can you tell me which parts of the city of Cincinnati you consider suburbs that are being subsidized for their sprawl... since it's kind of debatable.
