Dead pull expected in October. First powered trips possible in late October, more likely Early November.

Living Car Free
How many people on here have Metro monthly passes? If you do, the streetcar will be "free" for you. Essentially, you will already be paying for it in your annual metro monthly pass. Very convenient for any car free downtowners with Metro passes.

The Banks is in final negotiations for a user of the mirror lot to Yard House. We could know who it is between 2 and 6 weeks from now.

Streetcar supporters: DO NOT COMMENT ON THE DUSTY ARTICLE. The pro-streetcar LTE has 7 comments, the anti-streetcar LTE has 30. 2/3 of the comments on Dusty's article are from pro-streetcar people. So I'm at Gannett, what do I put on the front page. The Dusty article? YES because it gets a ton of clicks... mostly from streetcar supporters who want to argue in the comments. Don't argue in the comments. Buy the streetcar t-shirt (gives money to system). Write a letter of support (stay positive). Volunteer when Cincinnati Street Railway gets up and running. Do your basic shopping at businesses along the route (For example, ACME Hardware on Main Street near Court). But for the love of god... Do Not Argue In the Comments of an anti-streetcar article. It helps no one.

Sycamore Township: Kenwood Collection
The correct statement should be their parent company is headquartered here. Bloomingdales is a subsidiary of Macy's. But Bloomingdales lists NYC as their own headquarters.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
It will improve the consistency of the street level facade. The original plan was to build the apartments & a two story structure that covered the entire block with the office area ready for a user to be added on top (therefore preventing the giant gap phase 1 has. That wasn't needed as GE was eventually found before construction even began, still, it will be nice to have a consistent ground level

The first pain was temporary and will wear off in a few months or be painted over. The most recent paint is permanent and is reflective. But yes, they were really far off

Newport, KY: Newport on the Levee: Development and News
Just the other day I heard people saying "We need one of these at the Banks". Honestly, I don't see any of it as competing. Wouldn't it be great if suburbanites parked once, walked between NOTL and The Banks and took the streetcar to OTR and then back? I want the Covington riverfront to boom- it's kind of lacking! Having the Banks take off, and newport and covington and otr all take off is something every urbanist should support. Having a thriving core of our region is key. I tweeted that they better just make sure it's not an island, but that it's easy for pedestrian connectivity, etc.

Cincinnati: Northside: American Can Factory Lofts
Does anyone in Northside have photos of the Gantry construction to share?? I feel like they should be decently far along, right?
-
Cincinnati: Northside: American Can Factory Lofts

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Correct. THey wanted to do it as a combined project. But... That would have required about $10 million each from the City & the County... Doing it this way, the project funds itself with TIF financing (Phase 1 payments in lieu of taxes fund debt of the next garage). City & County were not interested in putting up that much more money yet.

Any ideas to the tenant? I'm actually hoping that this is a more family friendly establishment. As cheesy as it is, having one place that families feel drawn to means more draw to the park and vice versa. It doesn't have to be a crappy chain, but something that's a little less sports bar and a little more mid-priced destination restaurant would be good at the Banks to check off that sub-market. I was in Louisville 2 weeks ago and we walked past the Old Spaghetti factory (just an example, not calling for one at the banks!). As much as I would never want to eat at one, it was large, packed, and had a 2 hour wait- and much of the people standing outside waiting were families with grandma or kids in tow. Maybe it doesn't go in this lot, but I hope phase 2 doesn't fill up with just more bars aimed at attracting drunk suburbanites...

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
The OCS wire for the OTR loop is nearly complete! They just made the turn from Race back to 12th last night. Haven't seen if they also completed it through to Elm. Honestly, I find the span wires that hold the OCS to be LESS intrusive than the OCS arms. Who would have thought...

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
No one seems to be covering this in detail, but they also announced that a "small out lot" has a contract signed. Does everyone agree that is almost certainly referring to the mirror lot of Yard House?

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Major props go to Randy Simes for scooping all local media in Cincinnati on this announcement. Great work Urban Cincy!

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
I think the 12th & Race intersection may be strung up in the next 2 weeks. The entire OTR loop will hit official completion by July.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Have you noticed in Cincy how the streetcar moves about 6 inches over at stops? DC didn't do that. It goes straight all the time, but what that means is that when it's in a straight away with parked cars adjacent to it, it is 6 inches closer to the parked cars than ours will be. 6 inches closer is a BIG amount when it comes to blockages. So yes, it's annoying ours jigs over as much as it does because it slightly impacts the ride... but it is so worth it if it means dramatically fewer blockages.
