  1. I've been trying to get fioptics at my house on republic near 12th for almost 4 years. I call it the time warner zone.
  2. ^Chris Rehabbed my building on Republic Street. Excellent job!!
  3. ^Lets thinks about those who would benefit... 1. Those who live downtown 2. Those who work downtown with a parking spot heading out on a business trip 3. Those coming into town on a business trip staying downtown. More? This is the same type of thinking the naysayers with the streetcar had. Why would I drive downtown to park and ride the streetcar. You need to think outside of your own patterns and habits.
  4. People move into these neighborhoods for plenty of reasons. Some choose to restore an old building for the preservation while others just want to live in a hip trendy neighborhood with options (transit, food, etc). I'm sure there are countless other reasons.
  5. I heard from a pretty reliable source that Cranley refused to meet with the owners. Apparently they requested to meet with him he flat out ignored them. That doesn't sound good.
  6. This has probably been explained already. My apologies in advance. Could someone explain the reasoning behind the streetcar running on the left side of Central parkway?
  7. I wasn't trying to say it wasn't possible just that it would require a much larger structure. A quick google search revealed no modern incline. Does anyone know of any modern examples?
  8. Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't the inclines only carrying one car at a time? I don't don't see how this would be possible given the length of modern streetcars.
  9. He continued to clap after the presenter (Ryan?) put the spotlight on him. He seems like a very socially awkward person. So maybe he was nervous and just felt like clapping. I dunno.
  10. So Mark Miller attended the Town Hall meeting last night. Maybe I'm missing something but could someone explain to me why has was clapping with the rest of the group. It was very odd to say the least.
  11. That's what I was thinking. I think it would be a great way to put things into perspective.
  12. One more thing. I own and live in 1215 republic street. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help!
  13. I would like to see a general break down by neighborhood of of how much money has been spent for this and that (roads/streetscape/infrastructure/etc) over the last 5-10-15-20 years. There seems to be a lot of jealousy towards all the progress in the core. It would be nice to say hey over the last 20 years hyde park had this where otr had this. I know its been said before but I think its important to bring up projects like the viaducts and say we spent x we're not gaining anything other than preserving where as the street car is this and were getting that.

I hate them too except for a recent incident.. Two weekends ago I was driving back to OTR from West Virginia via rt 32. I had the cruise control set to 80. I passed under the Mt. Orab exit when the lights came on. "Routine safety check". Got a warning. I couldn't believe it. My previous experience with them was not good. The officer filed the ticket in the wrong county. I was speeding on 275 near Anderson. He wrote Hamilton co on the ticket but filed it in Clermont co. Kept trying to pay the ticket...Well it turned up a few months later.. Called Clermont clerk of courts... eventually the officers supervisor called me and said he ripped the ticket up. The hard #%% butler co judge could care less that the ticket didn't exist. What a pain.
  15. I hate to play the conspiracy card... I wonder if there was a campaign to influence potential contractors. With a little research one could probably find out who worked similar projects across the country. Then bombard them with the crap we hear daily. Like John said, why would they want to get involved...
  16. I've lived in OTR for a couple years and have never felt this nervous to walk to and from work up until now. For a few minutes I thought I was going to get jumped. I can tell these kids are going to be a real problem. They have the no fear lets be tough attitude.
  17. Correct. Do you know the group I'm talking about?
  18. Kids... I've ran into the same group of kids twice. 4 African American kids probably age 14-15ish, dressed in prep attire (tan khakis). I've seen them during the day and at night. I watched the group walk down republic checking for unlocked cars. Today as I was walking back to work from OTR they followed me and threw rocks. Apparently they liked my ray ban sunglasses. This happened on chestnut between central and john. Watch yourself out there. Had I not looked behind me I probably would have been hit in the back of the head.
  19. Do they have permits and drawings? I'm in the process of rehabbing a building on Republic. It took me nearly two months to get permits.
  20. I live in parvis and absolutely love having the Kroger across the street. Just as Casey does, I visit roughly 3 times a week along with a trip to Findlay (every weekend). I was the first one to move into parvis and will say without out a doubt Vine Street from 14th to 15th has changed tremendously. Less drug dealings andsoliciting, completion of store fronts, etc have all contributed to this. I think the selection is fine as well. Yeah, they could adjust things to fit the changing needs of the neighborhood. But overall pretty good. Service is great. With all that in mind, I've never seen another parvis resident there. Pretty sad.. Maybe a renovation would help.. Not sure what to do about the lot. Its an eyesore. Randomly parked cars. Oil everywhere. Its too bad the building isn't' built at street level where they could just extend the store over the lot.
  21. Anyone know the ratio of fire/police who live in/outside the city. Maybe they support it because a majority live outside the city and follow the typical "if OTR does well my neighborhood won't". I think some municipalities require certain employees (depending on job) to live in the city or at least the same county). Thoughts?
  22. ^ Well said!
  23. I sure hope so. We've already given notice on our current apartment. If Nov 1 doesn't happen. We may have to take up other options. :( Any suggestions?
  24. Does anyone know when the Parvis Lofts will get its occupancy permit? My girlfriend and I are considering the move from Hyde Park (it took months of convincing btw). We're really hoping its Nov 1st. Thanks
