Mike Brown, too, is probably not long for this city. It's baffling how bad the team has gotten. There are three guys with 16+ PER on the Cavs, and they cannot win a single game. And I'd like to take this opportunity to declare, once and for all time, I told you so, Chris Grant, about Jonas V over Tristan T. Might have been able to salvage that one by taking Nerlens Noel this year, but...alas. Anthony Bennett. Basically all the draft picks have been wrong except for Kyrie Irving and Sergey Karasev, who is a project.
  2. Well, it was nice well it lasted. Mergers are merciless.
  3. I almost feel like people are just sabotaging her now - how can anyone be so confident and so wrong? She's trying too hard, or is extremely unlucky, or both.
  4. http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2014/01/cleveland_firefighters_battlin_1.html#incart_river_default#incart_m-rpt-2 Not good. If it started at 7:30 and was huge and burned for at least an hour, the damage will be substantial. I wonder what happened?
  5. Pettine isn't bad. He's not a sexy hire, but he's well-respected and Buffalo loves him. Also, a chance to definitively and finally reject the Belichick coaching tree.
  6. Those street views are so desolate. Kind of amazing.
  7. Mock drafts are unfortunately total nonsense before the combine. And since Bridgewater is likely to have a good combine, and Jacksonville needs a quarterback...there's no way he falls all the way to 8. That said, I'm okay with either Bortles or Bridgewater. Manziel I would need some convincing. If Bortles/Bridgewater are both gone I'd say take Clowney if he's there. If not, trade down.
  8. It is going to be darker than the other buildings, isn't it? And yes, I kind of like the Seattle Seahawks-themed facade.
  9. Sign looks fine to me. We are definitely establishing a theme of slightly outsized lighting displays in downtown with this and the chandelier. I guess that's fine. Destroy the darkness!
  10. Ken Whisenhunt will be interviewed by Cleveland, and someone with connections says he's immediately the front-runner and could win the job with (another) good interview, since they really liked him last year. Reportedly Haslam liked Whisenhunt best, but Banner pushed for Chud - possibly because of Chud's pull with Norv Turner and Ray Horton. Since Haslam has already put his foot down that he will take more active charge of the search this time around, I'd say the odds for Whisenhunt just shot up dramatically. I like him and would be pleased to have him as HC.
  11. This info about the gold buyer on Clifton has gotten to the local facebook groups for neighborhoods in that area and many people, including Matt Zone, are not pleased. I'll see if I can attend the meeting next Monday (Zone will apparently be there) and get some clarity.
  12. I was thinking that after I posted....... Okay, they just told me its an antique coin shop, being opened by a very reputable businessman from Waite Hill. They are working on appropriate signage for the shop through Cudell and the city of Cleveland program that is also responsible for the appropriate storefronts that this building enjoys. I wouldn't worry about terrible signage here, its just not something my uncle would allow. In other news, Twist, one of the last businesses in the strip on the southeast corner of Clifton and 117th will likely be closing very soon, as the owner is now in Hospice. That went from worrisome to very interesting - a family member of mine has a pretty considerable coin collection. Thanks for the update, and kudos to your Uncle for being a good landlord. :)
  13. Cash for Gold? But gold prices are way down. Lame idea, puzzling placement. Frankly, they probably won't do very well there. Also, where do I check out the proposed signage?
  14. Congratulations, Cinci.

Other than Josh Gordon, the Cavs are the best thing in town to watch.
  16. UNI QLO?! That would be amazing.
  17. I'd like to hear DeanSheen's opinion, too, but from what my brother who lives at W. 112 and Clifton tells me, the neighborhood is still good. There's been an uptick recently (including a homicide on 112 that sounded drug-related), but so far it's a blip. I really hope that Matt Zone is proactive in protecting this area when he officially takes over from Westbrook, since it's one of the few areas of the city that have never really declined, but maybe that's a discussion for a different thread... If you are considering moving to the area, join the local block club's Facebook page. You can find them by searching for CBNA - Clifton Baltic Neighborhood Association which is mostly centered around the boundaries of Clifton/Baltic - West Blvd./W110th. There have been several events centered around the Baltic Children's Park and there are more planned in the coming year. Regular meetings and events as well as local news. Things are a little more dicey than they used to be but it all depends of course. The W112th shooting a couple months ago, kids on bikes assaulting people on West Blvd. between Baltic and Clifton a couple years ago and I remember a few years back some drug dealers just happened to be chasing and shot each other at Baltic and West Blvd. I've lived over there for 22 years, right in that pocket. I like the neighborhood but you still have to take common sense precautions. A recent CBNA campaign has been to leave your porch light on at night. That's helpful for the resident and the people walking on the street. If your shopping for houses over there, good luck. Not sure what you are looking for but it's a slightly competitive market. It's really nice that the Metroparks have come in and cleaned up the park. Clifton blvd will be updated and completed by this time next year and we should have a new grocery store plus other amenities on the parcel at the corner of W117 & Clifton. Competitive, maybe, but we got it! :)
  18. Well, the one we're looking at is right in the good area on that map, so I guess a couple break-ins aren't the end of the world.
  19. Worrisome. Was considering buying a house very near there. Does this happen a lot? It showed up as a pretty safe area on crime maps that I looked at.
  20. There is no parking under the convention center, that is the Key Garage, and it's not that big. On a bad weather day, it's overflowing. Huntington Garage is not a good garage, narrow spaces, dark, wet, and even with the county gone I can't imagine it'll have enough spaces. Needs serious work, even if the customers themselves are never going to set foot inside. Mandatory valet is fine, I guess, but the property should really have attached parking - it's already at a premium in that area. Guess that's not possible now. Really, downtown needs to trade a couple surface lots for a serious parking structure/new building with extra parking.
  21. I liked 87.7. I'm also not willing to pay 15/month for SiriusXM, even if I got the radio for free. Well, back to 24/7 NPR.

Bynum played extremely well last night. I wonder how sore he is today.
  23. The kindness and warmth in this post. It is too much.
  24. I live in Ohio City and cannot imagine why I would ever go to Wal-Mart instead of WSM/Dave's/Marc's. Worse shopping experience, debatable price advantage.
