I watched The Town last night and thoroughly enjoyed it! I'm not a huge Ben Affleck fan, I'm more of a Matt Damon girl, but it was fun! Now I'm obsessed, once again, with Boston!

They all want to be "different", but they all dress the same, eat the same, listen to the same music, etc. I actually read The Hipster Handbook and this is one of the things the author points out. I also read a book a while back called Hello, I'm Special, how individuality became the new conformity I saw this in HS years ago. One year, everyone was wearing African medalions, Gumby Haircuts, and baggy pants (mind you, I grew up in an EXTREMLEY white area), and the next year, grunge hit, and everyone wore Docs and flannel. I was wearing that stuff WAAAY before, but that's because I'm ahead of the trend! LOL

Wow, I'm obsessed with hipsters too! I've read up on the phenom quite a bit. Then there is "Hipster Bingo"...'Blogger with Camera" is one square that I fit for awhile (so, a wannabe hipster for a while). The thing about this is that its sort of an infinite regression of coolness and insder knowleged. You (or I) can never be one because we might want to be one, since hipsters never cop to being hip, they just are.... ...or something like that. Which I guess makes the phenom so interesting. Maybe its the larger concept fo bohemianism that I find appealing...I guess hipsterism (is that a word?) is a subset of the bohemian, no? I agree with you 100%. I used to call myself a hippie, but I don't smoke pot, so that didn't really fit me. I guess I find myself loving AND hating hipsters at the same time. It's just this weird thing that I have going on. I love how they've "embraced" white trash culture in many ways (PBR, etc), yet have probably never LIVED that life. I guess that's what I find it so fascinating. But I've always been obsessed with the countercultures of the past: beats, hippies, etc.

I'm obsessed with "hipsters". I don't know why. Maybe it's because I see them all over the place, or maybe I want to BE one, but God, I can't get enough. However, at the saem time, I make fun of hipsters. I'm just all over the place!

I'm not looking for VINTAGE, but thrift stores on the west side. I reside in Lakewood, so I know there has to be SOMETHING close by.

I just wanted to take a minute and RAVE about Cleveland Public Library and CLEVNET in general. I love the fact that I can go online, get pretty much WHATEVER I want, and have it delivered to the library that's closest to my work. It's amazing to me, to say the least. PLUS, when I went in today on my lunch, not only did they have my books waiting for me, but Season 3 of Mad Men was just sitting on the SHELF, calling my name! Can you tell I'm a bit of a nerd? :-D

I finally started watching Mad Men. I'm on season 2, and I'm LOVING it!

Just wanted everyone to know that we had a GREAT time exploring Cleveland this past weekend. West Side Market was awesome, Rock Hall was great, Little Italy was fabulous, it was just an all around great weekend.

Thanks for all the great suggestions! We're doing the west side market Friday, with a stop at Great Lakes, dinner with friends on Friday night, Rock Hall on Saturday along with Little Italy. Should be fun!

We will have access to a car, that's one thing. I'd like to keep it relatively inexpensive since, although he's MY guest, he'll be paying for everything. I don't really want to do the art museum, as it's not my thing either, I'm just trying to show him what's around. He's a BIG food channel guy, and a BIG Michael Symon fan, but the more expensive place is definitely out of the picture. Thanks for the advice though, and keep it coming!

I have a friend comnig in from out of town next weekend, and he's never been to Cleveland. We don't have a TON of time to spend, but I was wondering what things should be on our not to miss list? He already wants to go to the West Side Market (he's a HUGE foodie!!), but other than that, I have no clue. What restaurants should we try, should we do the art museum, etc? I live in Lakewood, and I'm near a rapid station, so transport SHOULDN'T be a problem. Any and all suggestions are welcome. I want to show him what an awesome city Cleveland is!

I have a friend coming in from Michigan, and I want to give him a traditional meal here in Cleveland. What would you recommend? I was thinking Sokolowski's. Any suggestions would be appreciated though!

Ok, so the guy I'm kind of into was quite honest with me the other day, and told me that he's "juggling" several women. Now, I will admit that I'm kind of doing the same thing, juggling several men right now. So I shoudn't be pissed, right? I mean, he's being honest, and that's a good thing.
