Columbus: Huntington Park (Clippers ballpark)
I'm pretty impressed by this - This should add a great summertime activity for people in Columbus. It really does seem to be a 'community' type ballpark, seeing as how you can watch the game for free from the street apparently - Looks to be a great compliment to the area!

Ohio's Signature Foods
- Columbus Schmidt's Bahama Mamas! Morning Star Farms fake meat products - the breakfast patties are bomb - Morning star farms was bought out by a new jersey company a few years back though - Used to have their store and processing on 161 near the Continent and of course Wendy's and White Castle -

Columbus: Downtown: Franklin County Government Center Projects
Tru Tru - And I didn't realize the irony until now lol - But, this isn't a federal building, and they could just put some cement statues out front to block cars from driving up to it. Grass certainly isn't going to stop a car or truck -

Columbus: Downtown: Franklin County Government Center Projects
You're absolutely right --- All this talk about green space being necessary. Not downtown!! Especially not just grass and a couple trees... Like UncleRando said, if they put a large plaza with a fountain or statues or something interesting, then ok... But not just freaking grass... I do like the glass/transparency aspect to it - But just a square bldg with a little elevator shaft on the outside? Really? Is that the most visibly appealing idea that they could come up with? I mean, I'm pretty disappointed in this -- It feels more like it should be in Oklahoma City than Columbus --- I always felt Columbus had some sort of architectural integrity to it (I know about the 60's and 70's when there was no integrity), and that the new structures going up would play into the feel of the city... I don't see this doing that - And it's setback from the sidewalk? why!!?? So kids can play on the grass while their parents are being sentenced?

Another 10-15 of these and downtown would start filling in nicely.

Columbus: Short North Developments and News
ck replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionYeah - It would be nice if they were underground, or residences built on top of parking - But, the area certainly does need some parking, for now anyway (you know, as long as everyone is still driving cars around)

Forums agonizingly slow
You guys probably already fixed the problem - but just in case - here's a little something you can add to your robots.txt file: You can add a "Crawl-delay: xx" instruction, where "xx" is the minimum delay in seconds between successive crawler accesses. If the crawler rate is a problem for your server, you can set the delay up to 60 or 300 or whatever value is comfortable for your server. Setting a crawl-delay of 20 seconds for yahoo! Slurp would look something like: User-agent: Slurp Crawl-delay: 20 http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/ysearch/slurp/slurp-03.html

Skylines Combined--Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati =)
If you really put all big three Ohio cities' skylines together, it would easily be the 3rd greatest downtown area in the country - only behind Chicago and NY - Philly, although I really like Philly, would be dwarfed by all three Ohio cities put together - the picture of all skylines combined leaves out quite a few bldgs. and makes quite a few look pretty small too - In real life it would be rather overwhelming - And from recent memory - the population would show that too - city proper would be something like 1.6 million with a metro area of approx. 6 million - That would make the city proper something like the 4th largest and the metro area somewhere around 4th or 5th too -

Skylines Combined--Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati =)
I'm pretty sure philly doesn't have nearly as many skyscrapers -

BET.com ranks Columbus as 2nd best city for Black Americans, Cleveland the worst

Skylines Combined--Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati =)
Columbus' skyline is very drawn out - To the very north (the left on your pic) it would go something like this - Nationwide bldg; AEP; Worker's Comp; Rhodes; LeVeque; Huntington; the green-topped one (lol); 5/3; Courthouse - at least the main ones - At least this is how I remember it - living in seattle now - Here's a shot from the east looking west - so in reality the pov of your pic would be flipped for this one - http://www.pbase.com/kblanken/image/33783736 Anyway - cool project - reminds me of those calendars that used to be around with skylines in exotic locations - Unfortunately, the One Nationwide Plaza didn't appear in any Columbus skyline views I could find. Any picture I found of it, it was pretty much by itself. I don't really know the skyline to well, so I didn't have any perspective where to put it. Would it go best roughly over where Cincinnati is?? Thanks! I unfortunately don't have the time to focus much on this right now. This was more just to give me a study break and allow me to do something that’s not related to chemistry (my current religion). Maybe down the road we can talk about it.

Skylines Combined--Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati =)
left out the Nationwide bldg in C-bus ;-( - well I suppose you took the tallest (although I thought Nationwide was in the top 3 in columbus? --- Actually, isn't the workers comp bldg, nationwide, aep, and the courthouse roughly the same height?) Anyway, fun to see - thanks for the post =)

Columbus Nationwide Shot
Yeah, I have the inferiority complex from growing up in Columbus... Its always Cleveland this or Cincinnati that... I live in Seattle now, and people still only know about cleveland and cincinnati... So I suppose I just take up the issue as a default reaction... Either way, living in Seattle now, makes me appreciate Ohio a lot more... I'm rather proud of my heritage now... yay Ohio... very rich history

Cincinnati 828,139 77,198 9.3% Cleveland 1,271,745 106,899 8.4% Columbus 706,215 39,852 5.6% These numbers are skewed... I'm not sure what they are representing, but it looks like only Columbus' numbers are for the actual city; while Cleveland and Cincinnati's are for a much larger area of the metropolitan area... Check that, it said Central Business District... Still though, where are the boundaries?... Again, Columbus city proper (2000) = 712,000 Cleveland city proper = 461,000 Cincinnati city proper = 317,000 It looks to me like they drew from suburbs for cin and cleveland, but not columbus... Not sure how they work that out... Why would it be that Columbus would not get to include the million more people that live around it, while the others do? Also, re: the comments of how this looks poor for density... Well I suppose if you thought this was the whole downtown region, then it would... But considering this only shows the least dense area of downtown, then not so much... I thought it looked good for reasons other than density... As another commentator said, if we based a picture's strengths on height of buildings etc, then boston, d.c., baltimore, detroit, etc... would all be pretty poor cities to look at... And every european city... Not to mention the only reason Columbus is full of parking lots and the ugly crap is because it was actually growing in the 60's and up... For some reason, the architects of the 60's and 70's thought that they needed to destroy everything to build things... Columbus was very dense before that, and should have stayed that way... Damn the growth... Pics taken from: http://www.skylinepictures.com/Columbus_Ohio_col13_full.htm http://pix.epodunk.com/OH/oh_columbus04.jpg

Columbus Nationwide Shot
Yeah this looks like it might have been taken from the Borden bldg or the Adam's Mark hotel (is adam's mark still around?)... I used to be security at the Motorists bldg, and can attest to the city looking like this at night... I actually always loved the orange hue that surrounded the city... You could see it all the way down in Lancaster driving up, and you knew you were about to hit the city by the glow... Someday they'll put some apartments up in that area... Truthfully, Columbus' downtown area is huge... If it ever got built up all the way, it would rival most any city except the big 3....
