Dublin: Bridge Park / Bridge Street District Developments and News
ck replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI wonder what the resident concern threshold is that triggers an actual change. Is it when 5 people show up to a meeting and say they don't like it?

Oh cool - I'm sure your company is doing very well right now if they are working with Amazon or have a lock on downtown Seattle :). So much opportunity now and over the last 5 years, if you know where to look!

Columbus: Scioto Peninsula Developments and News
High-rise apartments, restaurants, hotels envisioned on vacant land near COSI Two 30-story residential towers with sweeping views of the Downtown skyline are among the new buildings envisioned to be built on long-vacant lots west of COSI. A brand new city street lined with restaurants and shops and a boutique hotel or two also is planned for the 21-acre site on what's now called the Scioto Peninsula. Columbus: Victorian Village Developments and News
I don't think streets need to be 4 lanes to handle an extra building, though on-street parking might need to go away in that area. It's also only a block off high street, which mirrors the large development 2 blocks south. 1 block north will be the larger white castle building. 1 block south has grandview mercantile going up. The whole area is positioning itself in the 3-12 story range and it will most definitely creep off of high street. If it's out of place now, it won't be in a few years.

Forum Chat
*edit - looks like it's storing in cookies. I delete temp storage stuff on browser close so the setting would have to be set each time. I think it's a cool feature, but I do agree with jwulsin[/member] in that it should be opt-in instead of opt-out and it should store the settings in the user's profile not tied to any local storage. I think the easiest way is to change the default to off for sound and popups.

The ability to change my username! I would very much like to have a different username but don't really want to create a new account for it.

Error messages!
I don't know if I'm the only one, but I tend to have to log in twice. My first attempt results in a bad user/pass message and then I do the same thing again and it goes through. Been happening for years now - a bit irritating but no biggie. Specifically: 1. Navigate to a thread 2. Enter user name & password on the login form located in the thread 3. Receive error message saying bad user/pass 4. My password manager tries it again immediately and I get another error message saying I have to wait 2 seconds. 5. Wait 2 seconds. 6. Type exact same user/pass in again, this time I'm logged in.

Columbus: Restaurant News & Info
Fond memories of getting treated to a dinner at the Florentine growing up - mostly due to the little bag of candy they'd give us after dinner. I don't think I ever went there as an adult, but it'll be missed nevertheless.

Seattle - 2015 - Part 2: South Lake Union & Lower Queen Anne
It seems like at least one sea plane takes off or lands about every half hour in that area. It's pretty startling when you first hear a plane there, since you're wondering where the airport is. My office sits very close to the lake and is directly in one of the paths the seaplanes take to land. Twice we've been in a meeting with vendors from out of town who were looking out the window and actually interrupted the meeting to question if the plane was going to crash into our building lol. It is absolutely startling for those not used to the route.

I think finding a niche would be a good start - that or making a name for yourself somewhere else. You are right that freelance websites are going to be terrible places to make decent money. You are competing against the whole world and we've seen how that works in nearly every other industry. So become an expert in something specific. Take this site for instance. It uses SMF to power the boards - learn SMF, deploy it in multiple environments, write plugins for it et al. Once you know your stuff, create a site that touts your expertise and charge 50$ an hour until you get some name recognition, then you can up it. I knew a couple people who worked with popular software and did freelance work - they were turning people away they stayed so busy.

Seattle - 2015 - Part 2: South Lake Union & Lower Queen Anne
-Nice tour of the central area -It is a nice (and expensive) city and the summers definitely have a lot of sunny days, but that's all made up for during fall and winter. Non-stop cloudiness and drizzle. See attached for how lovely it is today :)

Excited to see what else Crawford Hoying will bring to the table once they start wrapping up their Dublin projects. Seems like they're keen on developing the type of infill that most on this site appreciate.
