Cincinnati: Downtown: Smale Riverfront Park
A couple of things grabbed my attention when I saw the list of blocked out days: Is somebody else paying $5000/day for those dates? That would be quite a bit of money. What will be going on the days that are already reserved? Looks like something Wed-Sun. all summer.

Cincinnati: Interstate 75
What is the project listed as "RR spur south of SR562"? It associates the project with I75 through Hamilton county for some reason.

Heartland Corridor
They just ran the first train late last night, Columbus to Danville I think. Not sure what time of day the eastbound leg will run. I got the info from a mailing list. http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/CincyRails/

Cincinnati: Corryville: University Village
Found an official city map, Clifton & corryville border is Ruther Ave along Jefferson, the intersection this development ends at. Would you mind sharing that map if able? I looked for something that would show the boundaries and couldn't find it.

CVG-Downtown Cincinnati Light Rail
According to the CVG website, they moved 7.9 million through the airport in 2010. It was 22 million in 2005. I wonder what is the percentage change in connecting vs. origin & destination traffic?

Yellow Springs, Ohio and Glen Halen
Nice photos as usual Sherman. A couple of things that I didn't see you mention were the Raptor Center at Glen Helen and the Little Miami Bike Trail.

Heartland Corridor
Thanks for the heads up, I haven't picked up a copy of Trains in a few years. I believe the author of that article is a Cincinnati native.

CSX National Gateway Project
This question is still relevant to the discussion. So which line will CSX be using to get from Louisville to North Baltimore? I would think they would want to avoid the bottleneck at Queensgate but I am not familiar with any lines that could bypass Cincinnati. Do they have a connection from Louisville to Indy that can handle double stacks?

Cinci natives: Question about Norwood?
Yeah, Norwood has always been known as an area that minorities would avoid. My cousin graduated from Norwood High School in 1989. In his graduating class was the first black kid to graduate from that school. Or at least that is how he tells the story. I would think that the GM factory had a large part of who lived in the neighborhood. When the plant was built it became a large draw for Appalachian immigrants. All of this information is just my observations. Does anybody know of a written history of Norwood?

Governor John Kasich
Ok, just making sure. It feels like Kasich is from Bizarro World sometimes.

Governor John Kasich
So it seems that the main reason the construction stopped in Cincinnati was because the casino didn't want to commit to a large order for structural steel if they weren't sure how much space in the final design to set aside for table games. So the operators are waiting it out to see if the state is going to make the table games unprofitable for them. Is that right or did I miss something?

Sharonville Supply Depot?
That topo map ties together a few of the government owned properties in the area. The USPS has a large facility on the northern edge facing Crescentville, the Ohio Army Guard has a post on the western edge facing Mosteller and the previously mentioned Scarlet Oaks campus. It also shows that the original alignment of Hauck Rd use to reach Mosteller which makes more sense because of John Hauck having his summer home on Mosteller. I wonder how much of the land was still owned by the Hauck family before the government moved in? It also answers my curiosity about any connection between the Pennsylvania and New York Central railroads in that area. Jeffery, any chance you could post a link for the original topo? Correction, the Army facility is Reserve, not Ohio Guard.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
South facing signage was illuminated tonight. I saw it from 275 crossing the Licking River. The only thing that stands out at that distance is the red logo.
