Cleveland: Little Italy: Development and News
In today's edition of Crain's Business (11-8-10) there is a Terry Coyne ad (with rendering) for a new "rare construction" in Little Italy which is OFFICE SPACE and covered parking. It appears this has been mentioned already in the thread. Any word on when this will begin construction?

Cleveland: University Circle: Uptown (UARD)
LOL, I was wondering what the heck they were building at Abbington Arms. That went up quick.

Cleveland: Midtown: Development and News
I drove past today and it says work studio space coming soon. It doesn't mention that there is a plan to make a road that connects Carnegie to Euclid.

Cleveland: University Circle: Cleveland Clinic Developments
What a shame, that's such a prime piece of property sitting there like wasteland. The Rally's that shutdown is also prime. I hope that some intelligent planner scoops up both properties. Although, a Cleveland Clinic surface lot or a poorly designed national retailer (e.g. Aldi's, CVS, etc.) would probably suit the site best, as always is the case in that section of Euclid. While they're at it, they should tear down St. Agnes' remains, because that doesn't fit in with the dystopian taste either.

Cleveland: Midtown: Development and News
That might be for the landscape. The building will be much larger. Also, they have the foundation going up on the project at Euclid and E. 75th'ish, I believe it is the senior low income housing. Appears to be 3 stories, right up to the curb. On a side note, according to my sources, the building immediately west of the Geis project is also going to be tied into the site. It's a large multi-level warehouse that backs up behind Galucci's There is some sort of plan to run a roadway through there, although it's already possible to do so.

Someone above mentioned the "grocery store" by the Playhouse. What are the plans for that building? It's the one between the mammoth 5000 car garage and the Playhouse, on Euclid.

Cleveland: University Circle: Cleveland Clinic Developments
I can't imagine in my mind that that gigantic 4000 or 5000 car parking garage between Carnegie and Euclid by the Playhouse is full. That was supposed to relieve the Clinic of parking problems for quite some time.

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=20336&id=131803726865268 This is a photo album of the Brunswick Florist shop before and after demo. Apparently the group "Countdown To Launch" has relocated to Shaker. Nowhere is it stated what will replace this. Hopefully a parking lot for the hotel, that'd be hot.

Cleveland: University Circle: Cleveland Clinic Developments
The old Brunswick Florist shop has been razed this past week. The site was for sale for 2+ million, a price not even the Clinic was willing to pay. As recent as last month, the building had a new banner put on it that said something about http://www.goldcald.com/. Googling that phrase had brought me to an incubator project for upstart businesses in Cleveland. Now the building is gone and I am real curious to know what the plan is now. It's situated between the future hotel to the east and the new Clinic Labs going up to the west. Also, across the street is the new Diabetes Center for the Clinic. On a separate note, what is going to replace Hathaway Brown on Euclid-Chester at E. 100? At first glance, you see the center stage of the Clinic campus. You think big things from Toby Cosgrove. But then you look at what Independence Excavating is doing and it looks like a parking lot to me. Please tell me it ain't so.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Has anyone tried the new Indian restaurant on Detroit near Gordon Square? And also - Oberlin's new mixed-use project has 2 new eateries, one is a cafe and the other is an Indian place. Has anyone tried either of those? A new middle eastern place is opening soon in Avon at Avon Crossings. Go! Bistro recently opened in Mayfield Heights on SOM Center Road. Just thought I'd mention some of these new places that weren't there last time I drove by, meaning they are all fairly to brand new.

You may be mixing up Anatolia Cafe in Cleveland Heights on Lee (which was formerly in South Euclid at Cedar Center) with Anatalya Red Square in Lyndhurst. The latter, is opening a new place in Tremont. The former is rumored to be expanding to Ohio City. Confusing as hell but good for both neighborhoods.

Cleveland: University Circle (General): Development and News
Tudor Arms may have a restaurant and/or bar at ground level. Bruswick Florist shop recently sold (not to CC as far as I know) and it appears to not be for retail use. There is another property available nearby and the price is sky high for it's size - I guess it's based on location, but at that rate, not even the CC wants it. Almost everything else is CC owned in that area and they lack a desire to do street level retail.

Anyone know what's going on two storefronts over from the new Melt along South Taylor? It's obvious that something is going in there! And also - a new middle eastern restaurant has opened at Van Aken-Chagrin called Middle Eastern Grille. It's an upscale place and I had a chance to go the week it opened and met the owner. If you like Aladdin's and Taza, this is another great place for hummus and falafel!

Safest area for CSU law student to live
I would recommend exploring the CSU campus - there are plenty of new apartment complexes adjacent to CSU on Euclid, E. 30th, Prospect, and just a block north on Superior. Plenty of choices - lofts, studio's, 1-, 2-, and 3-bed apartments, condo's etc. Also check out Statler Arms on Euclid and E. 12th, a classy place. For outside downtown, nothing beats Cedar-Fairmount! Where in Tremont, Lakewood, or anywhere else is there a coffee shop open till 11pm on Sunday nights? Well, ok, a few blocks over at Phoenix on Coventry - and oops, they're sometimes open till midnight! (Fact: coffee shops open late is a huge thing for college students). ;) The commute time from Cedar-Fairmount to CSU is 10 minutes and you are close to the RTA, the Rapid, restaurants, bars, libraries, parks, college students, and a super densely packed upscale neighborhood!

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
There is a new smoothie/raw food/delicacy at the Optimal Wellness Center on Clifton, one block west of W. 117th. I have yet to check it out. There is also a new bar coming to Lakewood called Main Street Cafe, located near Rosewood and Detroit. Roots Cafe also just opened last month on Detroit Ave., 2 storefronts down from Phoenix Coffee. This is the same owners, who have combined Phoenix with a full service cafe.

Cleveland: Midtown: Development and News
Major demolition underway at future site of hospital. This would make about 8 blocks in a row of undeveloped land once they come down. And just 3 blocks down is the other demo project. 2 if not 3 large warehouses about to be taken down at Euclid/Chester/E. 60th, fenced off, top floors windows blown out. Thing is - this property is actively listed for sale on Colliers website.

iPhone
While many may choose a cell phone based on important criteria such as coverage, technology, usability, and ease, there will always be one other factor that puts the Iphone above the rest: That little Apple logo in silver on the back of a white shell. It's brand recognition, much along the lines of a Gucci watch or a Mercedes-Benz logo. Needless to say, the Iphone is still the best phone I have ever used.

I don't know how exclusive the event was because a bunch of my friends went there and were not on a guest list of any sort.

Cleveland: Cleveland School of the Arts
According to Cleveland.com, the news story states that the building is like a dungeon and will be demolished to make way for a $30 million dollar facility. The students have been re-housed on Superior and E. Sixty-something. The building itself is entirely fenced off. Of course it doesn't make sense. Of course it doesn't need torn down. Of course it just got renovated. Of course it has beautiful public art on the wall. But this is Cleveland and we tear stuff down because we're good at it.

Cleveland: Cleveland School of the Arts
In what I think is going to be the biggest demolition mistake in 20 years, they are taking down a beauty, The Cleveland School of The Arts at 2064 Stearns Rd. It's such a gorgeous building. What a damn shame, this one takes the cake for sickest demo yet. Sickening...... http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&q=2064+Stearns+Rd,+Cleveland,+Cuyahoga,+Ohio+44106&sll=40.75844,-73.985195&sspn=0.074376,0.162563&ie=UTF8&cd=1&geocode=FQpFeQIdQ70i-w&split=0&hq=&hnear=2064+Stearns+Rd,+Cleveland,+Cuyahoga,+Ohio+44106&ll=41.501939,-81.608973&spn=0.000258,0.00127&t=h&z=20&layer=c&cbll=41.502173,-81.608506&panoid=SNGaNN-u0ZLK6LWGqEbOow&cbp=11,246.62,,0,-4.6

Cleveland: Demolition Watch
The 2 gigantic buildings on Euclid near E. 65th are under demolition, the first may be gone by now. The south tower is next. This was pushed pretty quick. I didn't even get pics, sadly. I have no words for the matter, with all that has come down this year, it's like who cares anymore.
