  1. Now, let's get some actual design stuff. Words are great...but these same words have been used for years.

I feel like street performers should be paid by the city if they're good. They add ambiance. The panhandlers who "do something" worthwhile are acceptable to me. I used to joke that I would say do a trick and I'll give you a dollar.

LOL when I lived in St. Augustine, FL, the police used to pick up some of the panhandlers and drop them off at the Duval County line. Apparently, they thought it would be better if Jacksonville or Jax Beach had to deal with them. Down here in Miami, it's crazy how many there are. I was even more surprised in Boston though how many homeless lined the streets.

Handing out money is the worst thing you can do. I've listened to many stories and had conversations with panhandlers, but no money is exchanged ever. I have less of an issue giving food, but they can be very unappreciative. Once, someone asked for cereal as I was going into a convenience store, so I obliged getting a single-serving. He then said, you couldn't get the bigger one? and I said have a nice day and took the single-serving with me. On the other hand, I took two guys to Jake's a few Christmases ago and they were extremely appreciative. Although, I had to draw the line at a request to sleep on my floor lol.
  5. I suggest this Christmas Winter Tree. Awww lol.
  6. Awesome news. Let's hope they look even more into things and All Aboard can help them see the light!
  7. After doing a 360 view, it seems like the picture is the E 21st and Chester view. They seem to be just putting up walls with some brick. Question because I can't remember. Is the baseball field still there or is it just grass now?
  8. I'm curious what the winter landscaping plans are.
  9. This is why I like Toronto's transit so much. You can take the streetcar when you are traveling shorter distances and want to experience the street life, and you can take the subway when you want to zip from one neighborhood to another. Minus the coins and punch cards lol
  10. Whenever I met people from the burbs there, I always had them park on Columbus. It's a two minute walk and rarely is anyone parked there.
  11. LOL Hmmm....I'm hoping more for teardown and new street level retail and 50+ apartments
  12. I agree. They are the next largest group of those moving downtown and have more disposable income.
  13. Do we think it's more of a funding issue or lack of qualified construction workers issue? I've read articles over the past year that suggest that many left construction in the Great Recession and aren't coming back.
  14. I agree with Duck Island. I would think Stark would be a relatively close second. He said in an interview he wanted to be a good way in by RNC.
  15. Of course they have a seat at the table, if they didn't it would raise major flags!
  16. This is exciting to see! Youngstown has a pretty nice downtown, just needed some more activity and it's finally getting it!
  17. Nothing really "new" here, but some interesting tidbits in this article: "The development opened in 2006 with 13 acres. It has since expanded to include more than 150 townhomes and condominiums ranging from 1,100 square-feet to nearly 3,000. They've sold for between $199,000 and $550,000. Six new townhomes are under construction, three of which are already sold. "Aside from the brand new construction in Battery Park," says Szabo. "There are no opportunities. It is completely full." There is, however, future hope for those wanting to settle in the complex. Keller Williams will soon release new construction plans for Battery Park. "It's going to be the most premier phase," says Szabo, citing the fact that it will offer permanent lake views." http://freshwatercleveland.com/devnews/batterypark101314.aspx
  18. That would be a good idea. It would give another option if one doesn't want to go to Tower City (I have had many frustrating movie experiences there).
  19. It looks like there's some luxury action on Evergreen Place near E 156th: http://www.trulia.com/property/1071139523-92-Evergreen-Pl-Cleveland-OH-44110?ecampaign=con_day_propertycomp_bk&eurl=www.trulia.com%2Fproperty%2F1071139523-92-Evergreen-Pl-Cleveland-OH-44110 http://www.trulia.com/property/1071139525-99-Evergreen-Pl-Cleveland-OH-44110?ecampaign=con_day_propertycomp_bk&eurl=www.trulia.com%2Fproperty%2F1071139525-99-Evergreen-Pl-Cleveland-OH-44110 Edit: Scratch that
  20. There are also rolling food carts that many in urban areas use when they have bigger purchases.
  21. I've been twice down here and both times the food had no flavor whatsoever! They do have nice atmosphere and drink menus though.
  22. Ick! Yard House???
  23. I agree with each of you! I think for transformational, May Co has this one. Music Hall already is in existence and used. Yes, it needs updates, but it's not out of commission nor is 925 plus Chaim was super rude when the County was selecting their location.
