  1. This area actually has nearly all of the other buildings around it built up to the street. I think it would be silly to all of the sudden reverse that.
  2. Ya, Steelyard turned a profit years ago while Legacy still has not.
  3. Ya, my comment was completely off topic from Steelyard...apologies.
  4. On the subject of whole foods...we are finally on their website (listed as West Cleveland) in stores in development. I heard that they do not go into an area unless there's at least 25% of the nearby residents with a bachelor or higher education level. I do not know the validity of that, since I doubt they would post online, but it makes sense looking at all of their other locations. Positive note...Midtown Detroit is getting one, so we have a step in the right direction. I would think Trader Joes would do better in Cleveland proper though. I've personally sent them a store request.
  5. Not really. It was not attractive and detracting from what was there. I'm sure they did it to clean up the look on the outside so a prospective tenant doesn't have to see it and have more of a reason to decline.
  6. This is also obviously a very rough moch-up. It doesn't show the relationship to the street or anything like that.
  7. Haven't seen any updates in quite some time...positive news for the region: "During the first half of 2012, 33 Cleveland-area companies raised a total of $83.6 million in venture capital, according to the Midwest Health Care Venture Investment Report, released today by BioEnterprise Corp. of Cleveland." http://www.crainscleveland.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20120731/FREE/120739954
  8. Has anyone else noticed the crane for, I believe, the new tower? Unfortunately, I have to make a trip to Brunswick twice a week for gymnastics, but it does give an opportunity to see the airport changes. Also, it seems the Ford plants have nearly all come down and I read that Nasa is auctioning off a couple of their buildings. Maybe good, maybe bad...we shall see.
  9. Actually Farilawn is thriving economically. One of the few places in the region that wasnt' hit too hard by the recession. Yes it has it's sprawl but as was pointed out, it's location fairly close to downtown and the highways makes it a good location for business. Oh, and that comment about attracting anyone under 40 to work there, all of the people I know who work in Fairlawn at some office park, for law firms or in a medical related industry are under 40 and happy to be working where they do. I'm sure this company will have no problem recruiting the talent they need. Fairlawn is the Akron area's equivalent of Dublin, the virtually recession-proof Columbus suburb that manages to evade severe economic trouble and other related issues that would knock just about any other burb down to wasteland status. Also unlike most of the Akron-Canton area's other burbs, it's really not all that dull and unlivable of a place. Fairlawn has the Akron-Canton area's second most diverse selection of restaurants and shops after Belden Village, and it is close enough to Sand Run Park and the Merriman Valley for genuine outdoor fun and entertainment. It's also somewhat walkable, though I still wouldn't live there without a car. I can definitely see the appeal it would have as a place to live for young professionals 40 and under who are looking to settle down and start a family. Very good schools too in the Copley-Fairlawn District. For these reasons I concur that Fairlawn will likely be around for quite a while yet. Of course Dublin is still doing well. They have done an incredible job of mixing businesses, corporation headquarters, and attracting a large number of all income levels. I don't like Dublin and I don't like Fairlawn, but they do serve their necessary purposes. Walkable or bikeable?? I think not unless your in the metro parks.
  10. Haha...that's what I was getting at.
  11. That needs some serious help. OY...step in the wrong direction. I hope they don't cave due to a vacant lot being filled.
  12. I've been wondering what happened with this "project". From what I can recall, the buyer was from another country and was so thrilled about rehabbing it that price wasn't that much of an issue. Now, unless you are truly rich and impassioned, I don't think that's too plausible. Here's hoping!
  13. I just went through all 90 pages...OY! We have two UO people in the townhomes...I'd have to walk over there, but it looks like only 20 condos...the last two buildings of 5 each didn't pre-sell to start construction. It is so depressing to see 60% pre-sold go down to only a half handful of people buying in the condo building.
  14. From everything I can find...30 and they are around $280-340,000
  15. I've seen quite a few townhomes for rent on Craigslist and also some lofts You may want to try there also. Based on the one you're looking at 47/Franklin...I'm guessing you may have already seen them:) The Avenue District condos just went apartment downtown as well, so another option. There are many condo units in there that were held up in bankruptcy court and finally released to a development group.
  16. There are still a few for sale. I'm pretty sure someone on the board lives over there to say for sure, but I think it's 3-5 empty townhomes.
  17. Great to hear!!
  18. It could go either way. My building's website does not say anything about parking and it is extra.
  19. I wonder if that's who responded to me...hmm.

^Very well said. Having an opinion about something is all good and fine, but there is no need to be rude. You would look at me and think I'm a hipster when in actuality, I am a young professional who is outside of the normal bubble.
  21. Hazel 8 will be making an announcement this week regarding the date pre-leasing begins.
  22. FYI: I posted a question on facebook regarding an update on the Trailside at Morgana Run development and this was the response I received: "Hi Josh, we are in for building permit in the next week and are hopeful to break ground the first of September. We are working very hard on developing a website and other material that we should be making public soon. Are you interested in being one of our first buyers?"
  23. Also, the townhome style buildings behind have started as well behind the other two buildings.
