Cleveland: Midtown: Development and News
I forgot to mention....I drove by the apartment building that burned on Euclid across from Aldi and they have finally started rebuilding the structure. Also, the storefront renovation across from Midtown Tech Park has started renovation. I'll try to get some pics soon.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
The Langston has at least 5 signed leases. They're running a promotion where if you upload a pic with your lease on their facebook page, you could win a $50.00 gift card.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Avenue District
Right...I read somewhere this month downtown just hit 97% occupancy.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Avenue District
It will be interesting to see how these do. These are around $1.50 per square foot which may help to push up price per square foot in the rest of downtown if they are successful.

Cleveland's Heritage Park
I can't wait til this becomes part of Canal Basin Park. It is already a beautiful area and it'll only get better! Beautiful pics.

Discussion of this aside from the most recent news is in the Playhouse Square development thread.

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
I was wondering the same thing. They were supposed to complete renovation and move employees by summer. Maybe they are still working on designs, etc.

Fill in holes with density. Filling in holes with less-than-density results in just that. Because A = A. I agree that the hot neighborhoods should fill holes with density. Downtown and University Circle should be mid to high rise naturally. There's less space. Ohio City, Tremont, Detroit Shoreway should be dense, but can't support high rise and doesn't really fit in to their neighborhood characteristics. Midtown cannot support extremely high density just yet. If it could, we would see it and we would not see old industrial buildings that could be amazing with a little design and a lot of money destroyed. Let's get some success stories, aka what's happening right now, and we will see more investment in the area.

Cleveland: Midtown: Development and News
Right...we can't just start adding density when there are so many vacant or currently unusable spaces allover the city...especially around midtown and south. Fill in holes and density naturally happens.

Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
It is still exciting. That's hundreds of new residents in a neighborhood trying to diversify its options and will more than likely lead to spin off development in the immediate area.

Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
Exactly, sorry to bring some excitement haha. For example, the Hanna Annex conversion will probably be around 7 of those 55 with the Halle Building (if that works out) around the same.

Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
PHS seems to have it together when it comes to development. They have a plan and they execute it. They announced a couple years ago wanting to do 55 floors of residential in the surrounding area and that is starting to happen now that money is loosening up. The closure still hasn't been announced officialy, so I'm sure once that happens we will find out what the plan is.

Dayton: Outdoor Recreation
This would be good in many areas of the state...even better if there was a way to connect some of the major metro areas. At this point three metro areas (Cleveland, Akron and Canton) and one micropolitan area (New Philadelphia) are connected by the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail. I'm sure Cincinnati and Dayton could be connected somehow as well. Rowing and kayaking/canoeing have picked up in Cleveland and I only expect that to grow with all of the new ameneties. Ohio on the whole needs to do better marketing what it already has!

Cleveland's Innerbelt Freeway and Bridge
I love these historical, informative posts. Being someone not from here, it is very much appreciated.

The sheep are definitely a tourist activity now haha. Everytime I pass, I see someone snapping a pic.

Ohio: GDP List & News
^Exactly...that's all I was saying. I can say 1/4 of my office lives in Summit County. A good friend of mine commutes from Bratenahl to downtown Akron.

Cleveland: Steelyard Commons
I don't think Aldi will detract much from the Pearl store. That one has a very cramped and unusual and has plenty of population to support it. I think Steelyard is going to be more for downtown and Tremont and will make my shopping so much easier. Westside Market to Target to Aldi then back home...wahoo!!

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
^I would sure hope adding 600+ people and units between 8 and 1500 would justify it.
-
Ohio: GDP List & News
Exactly. Cleveland to Canton is the same distance as Cinci to Dayton. Plus Cinci stretches quite a few counties into Indiana and Kentucky which doesn't show on your map.

Cleveland: MOCA
Haha...I hate nearly all of the signs on developments, but what are we gonna do. Get them built and the sign goes away;) It is so crazy how much things have changed and how quickly.

Ohio: GDP List & News
It really depends how you look at it. Both Cincinnati and Pittsburgh's metro areas are huge because they are the only city that everyone commutes in to. Cleveland and Akron are separate even though there is a major commuting pattern between the metro areas. If you lay Cincinnati's metro over Cleveland, Akron would definitely be included. To really compare, it would be necessary IMO to combine Cleveland and Akron then see how it pans out. Comparing metros is such a difficult thing with all of the different variables.
