  1. I just can't go in...I have a nasty habit of spending too much money in there.
  2. I think something as simple as painting that section or putting in a couple small trees or planters would solve that. I know one of the renderings had a lot of greenery...hopefully that comes through. On my run this weekend, I noticed a large smoothed out section that would look good with a large apartment building on top. Here's hoping some news comes soon on that.
  3. Very nice...I'll snap a pic if noone else does by 4.
  4. A lot of good stuff in this article!! "To jumpstart the initiative, Mr. Glazen plans to invest as much as $1 million of his own money into the project, which he estimates likely would require about $5 million in outside money to reach its full potential. Mr. Glazen is eyeing 11 properties near the stretch of Waterloo Road running from East 156th Street to about East 160th Street for future development that jibes with the area's off-beat, indie-rock temperament. He said he's finalizing the purchase of two properties. One houses Fontina's, a small lunch and breakfast joint on East 156th Street, but he wouldn't disclose the other location due to ongoing negotiations. One of Mr. Glazen's ideas is to transform a property into a club called Vinyl, which would have access to the massive record collection of Terry Stewart, CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum...The hope, Mr. Glazen said, is his “light switch” project would come to life at the conclusion of a $5 million streetscape initiative expected to start next summer that would replace the sidewalks and streets in the area stretching largely from East 152nd to 161st streets." http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20120723/SUB1/307239966
  5. Another company expanding into Cleveland...barely...but a win regardless: "Keeping companies' employees healthy has been Bravo Wellness' mission since opening its doors in 2008, but the company's own health has forced it to outgrow its current digs in Avon. Bravo in October plans to move its roughly 80 full-time employees to a larger space on Cleveland's southwest side, nearly adjacent to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. 6. Awesome news but depressing that the building across Euclid was just demolished: "Hemingway Development, a division of Streetsboro-based Geis Cos., plans to spend $8.9 million to buy and renovate a vacant building at 6555 Carnegie Ave. to add to its Midtown office/laboratory complex...Hemingway bought the six-acre property at 6700 Euclid in 2008 and began construction of the $20 million building in 2010. The addition of the 7000 Euclid building to the complex was announced in April 2011, a month before the first tenant moved into the 6700 Euclid building. That first tenant was the entrepreneurial assistance nonprofit JumpStart Inc. Now, said Tracey Nichols, the city of Cleveland's director of economic development, only 8,000 square feet remain uncommitted in those first two buildings." http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20120723/SUB1/307239973
  7. From the choice neighborhoods section at CMHA website. Hopefully the demolition and redevelopment of the rest of the older project style buildings will come out of this. The Central neighborhood has had quite a transformation and actually grew last census. With the new focus on the Forgotten Triangle area hopefully we will see the same in that area as well. "The Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) has been awarded a $300,000 Choice Neighborhoods Planning Grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The planning grant will focus on the Central neighborhood adjacent to Cleveland’s downtown....Once completed, the plan will become the guiding document for the revitalization of the public housing units in the Cedar/Central Community, while simultaneously directing the transformation of the surrounding neighborhood and positive outcomes for families. The goal of this Choice Neighborhoods Planning Grant is to employ a comprehensive approach to neighborhood transformation."
  8. Oh wow...for some reason I thought six of them sold. The main building received tax credits also. Sad :(
  9. Noooooo haha....he has another location in Warehouse district but it's not as good or close. If there is validity to this, it has to be something big.
  10. Very strange that China Sea is not listed in there yet it's between Star and Otto Moser. Please don't get rid of my Chinese spot!!! haha.
  11. For comparison...the Hilton under construction now that will connect to the Columbus convention center is around 13 stories and 532 rooms and the Hyatt that is pretty close is 633 rooms.
  12. I went in to work later than usual today and on my way saw quite a few city vehicles in the garage of the building. This makes me lean more toward KJP's previous comment that they are fixing it back up getting it ready to sell rather than giving tours.
  13. Don't bring that up to the vendors haha. They are mostly not in favor. I remember a Plain Dealer article a few months ago where someone brought that very topic up and created quite a sh*tstorm.
  14. Small part of a nice write-up at http://urbanland.uli.org/Articles/2012/July/HellendrungHealthLine: "The resulting $200 million, 6.8-mile (11 km) Euclid Corridor Transportation Project catalyzed a powerful transformation along the avenue. Since the BRT line opened in 2008, the corridor has attracted $5.8 billion in investment—$3.3 billion for new construction and $2.5 billion for building rehab, together totaling more than 110 projects. Disproving naysayers and exceeding the expectations of supporters, the project has generated the economic growth that many thought could only be achieved with rail—and at a fraction of the cost."
  15. Great news for the Templin-Bradley building at 5700 Detroit Ave: "The Detroit Shoreway Community Development Organization, together with the City of Cleveland and several local arts and business organizations, is using the Our Town grant to design an affordable artist live/work space in Gordon Square. The 24 artist live/work units will be developed in the historic Templin Bradley Building, a site in downtown Cleveland that has been vacant for decades." http://freshwatercleveland.com/inthenews/placemakinggrant071912.aspx
  16. The same discussion occurred recently with the May Company building when they discussed putting parking in. Apparently, it's not that difficult to transition back. I would say if anything this building would be easier since it's already gutted.
  17. The fact that there is no window right there doesn't bother me as much as that weird concrete space between the building and the sidewalk. I can't see what that is mean to be.
  18. Urban porn!!! Thank you! So depressing how many amazing buildings are going to waste.
  19. Here is the list of confirmed tenants: New tenants will include Toby Keith’s I love This Bar & Grill, Ken Stewart’s, Lago, Flip Side and Dos Tequilas. I can see some holding out to see what is happening with phase two before they make a decision.
  20. This website just seems off. Saying now leasing phase two with no information on phase two and then 380,000 downtown workers. Gotribe: Those will be apartments but I've never seen anything prelease even before floor plans are released.
  21. Ummmm....380,000 workers????? Where did they get that number?
  22. Over 200 apartments sounds amazing...along with around 500 or so within a square mile being looked at also.

It would be awesome to see something in the way of Nieman Marcus finally being able to act on their plans from so many years ago. But until there are all of the other components, I will keep my sad face.
  24. More like 12th to 18th. Six of one half a dozen the other...this gets so monotonous.
  25. Until rents go up in Cleveland or office vacancies go down, I highly doubt anything will be built at 515. I do see it eventually though.
