Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
I wasn't sure what the Union Club was so i googled it. They are doing some downward digging on the lot between the Union Club driveway and the brown building next door. On google maps it shows a seperate parking lot to the right of the garage entrance. Thanks for the response!!!

Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
I had posted in Cleveland General Development inquiring about a parking lot being dug up on Prospect...after going to Million Dollar Quartet this weekend I realized this parking lot is actually on Euclid across from Wyndham Hotel.

Cleveland: Tremont: Development and News
Saw a sign up on Abbey Ave/W19th St for Duck Island Lofts. After a little digging, I came across some contemporary homes already built on W18th. I had no idea they were back there! Here is the link for an idea of what they look like on W18th: http://cleveland.backpage.com/ApartmentsForRent/1600-3br-duck-island-contemporary-avail-dec-1st/8077412

I'll have to walk by this weekend...It's been nothing but overtime the last two weeks, so no pics or walking around.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
To pick everyone's brain (and hopefully I haven't missed it in another thread): I was downtown and the parking lot on the north side of Prospect beside E. 8th (google maps says approximate address 616 Prospect) is being dug up...anyone heard anything about or seen this? I was driving so I wasn't able to stop and see if there were any signs. I've google searched and went to the city website, but cannot find anything.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
Ok so my post didn't show up :)...I went to school down south as well and couldn't park within a mile of my school. It's just something you learn to deal with like every other large city or popular neighborhood. If parking is never available in one garage, why bother? You are setting yourself up for failure and wasting time. It only takes 20 minutes (I've timed it) to walk from any one side on downtown to another. Like so many other things in Cleveland, we have it good. I think people need to travel more to see what else is really out there.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
Exactly! I went to school down south as well and couldn't even park within a mile of my school. Like so many other things here, it's not so bad. I don't understand the negativity about everything here, but I think it stems from not really experiencing anywhere else in this country. It doesn't hurt anyone to walk a little. Walking from one side of downtown to another takes 15 minutes. I'm all for more people on campus. I am currently the TA for an Intro to Urban Studies class at CSU. This past week they had an assignment where they had to talk about the push and pull factors influencing their decision to come to CSU. It was incredible the number of people in this class that complained about the commute and how difficult it is to get a parking spot. The entire time grading I was thinking of this message board and ClevelandOhio's brilliant case study. My freshman year in Miami, they had to cover over 2 of our green areas with gravel to account for the number of commuters, and even with that there was no parking. Not to mention, in Miami parking spots are 6/7 of the size of Cleveland's spots, so you guys don't have the "friendly parking car scrape" to deal with (I barely have any paint left on my car from the number of cars that hit mine while parking)..

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
I agree with inlovewithclevel. I find it offensive how you speak of people with less means Rustbelter. So you are saying that my mother, who you would call a poor person because she has to work 60 hours a week to survive and keeps an immaculate house, would not deserve to live in a nice development?? Do you honestly think that just because someone may have to work harder for the money that they have that they shouldn't be able to live in a nicer building? I don't see anywhere that said this was turning into a section 8 mixture, and even if it were, what is wrong with that? Drive or walk through Tremont...this is how development is going and it is working. I don't see less people buying the new townhomes a few roads down from Tremont Pointe. The people who live there take pride in their nicer surroundings. Bringing different income types together is fine. They both spend money and have pride in their neighborhood. I see this thread getting pruned quickly, but seriously, think before you type.

Higbee is phase one of a two phase connected project....assuming they build phase two. It will continue to be used.

Cleveland's Central neighborhood: Hope Sprouts From The Weeds
I've driven that area quite a few times and it is impressive how much has been filled in. It runs at least 30 blocks. It just shows what can be accomplished throughout the city.

Northeast Ohio: Regionalism News & Discussion
Ed Fitzgerald was in Bratenahl last night and the topic of regionalism was brought up. He is all for it, but he sees the Cleveland area voters nowhere near ready for this. He was excited that "Orange" came to the county for help on studies and such, showing the county is more approachable then they have ever been. I agree that the inner ring suburbs should all merge in with Cleveland, but I don't think they are ready for it either. I can tell you in Bratenahl, they would fight to the death. The village shovels and salts our sidewalks in the winter and makes sure roads are plowed at all times....for that reason alone they would not merge lol.

Cleveland Area TOD Discussion
Finally! We need more of these style developments!!

Cleveland: Jack Cleveland Casino
There are coat checks for that like every other business in winter cities (even Florida for that matter) and if they keep the streets clean and sidewalks plowed and iced, there shouldn't be an issue. I highly doubt that someone is going to refuse to go to a place because they don't have a skyway.

I was looking at that just the other day...I thought it was really neat that they showed how much more fundraising they needed for the project. Wish other projects would do this as well!!!

Cleveland: Midtown: Development and News
It will be exciting to see what else is coming down the line with the Heath-Tech Corridor Projects... Cleveland HeartLab signs lease in Midtown; fast-growing company part of Health-Tech Corridor: "HeartLab plans to sign a 10-year lease today for 27,000 square feet at the MidTown Tech Park, a rare project built without tenants in hand. A niche lab focused on biological markers tied to heart disease and stroke, HeartLab rebuffed an offer from an East Coast buyer, chose to stay in Cleveland... "We think it will take us less than a year to have it fully occupied," said Terry Coyne, a Grubb & Ellis broker representing the property. Coyne's family also invested in the project." http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2011/09/cleveland_heartlab_signs_lease.html

East Cleveland: Development and News
There are really cute neighborhoods already in place around that area as well, just needing a little TLC and by the Cleveland Hts border there are established neighborhoods. The potential is definitely there for redevelopment to continue into the city. They will just need to get people to realize the East Cleveland of today is not like the East Cleveland of the 90's.

IF they make this an interesting, architectual piece with fun lighting it MAY work. I would like to see some examples of some "modern cities" that have cool skyways. I've image searched them and found very few neat skyways.
