Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
Not necessarily development related....but when Avengers was on E9 the Rotunda was lit and even empty added so much to the area...wonder what it would take to do it each night?

The building is actually quite visible from 90. I pass by it everyday. They just installed windows today....I'll drop by this weekend to snap some pics.

Cleveland: Steelyard Commons
I agree! As someone who nearly refuses to go to the suburbs, I can't wait for new stores to open. It will come full circle. Schools are doing better, real estate is cheaper, people are moving back to the city...retail will follow. Although I can't see a Macy's down there, Kohls could work with their new store format. Steelyard is convenient for quite a large area.

^It's a very strong rumour. Not set in stone but the demographics and foot traffic are there.

The bridge is just plain unattractive. If there has to be a bridge, it needs to compliment.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
Crains Cleveland has a subscriber only article on the Key Bank Center building, but I have not subscribed yet. It says an unknown investor group paid 7.1 million for the building in the recent auction.

It will be so nice to see all of those completed and will help future development. Currently it's so difficult getting to Edgewater from those neighborhoods.

Nice!! Now that vacant land behind the new townhomes will be filled also if this is successful. Market rate apartments are what Cleveland needs right now, so this should be successful.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
I was thinking the same thing...Whiskey Island and Flats West need to be connected to Flats East by a pedestrian/biking bridge. I know one is already planned for Whiskey Island, but both areas area way underserved for pedestrians.

Cleveland: TV / Film Industry News
Another article on the impact of filming: "Movies presently being filmed in Cleveland are translating into millions of dollars and thousands of room nights for area hotels, according to the Ohio Department of Development. The films, most of which are taking advantage of the new Ohio Film Tax Credit, could generate close to $5.3 million in economic activity and more than 41,000 room nights, according to an article in HotelNewsNow.com." http://freshwatercleveland.com/inthenews/filmroomnights072811.aspx

I heard that the man who is building it has plenty of money and really wanted that dream home on that property lol

Speaking as someone who lived in the oppressive heat...I have to agree!! Very few people used public transit in Florida unless they had to. You spend months out of the year running from air conditioned place to air conditioned place, not sitting outside waiting for a bus or light rail. The only problem I have with Cleveland in the winter is the lack of snow/ice removal on sidewalks.

From Cleveland.com: http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2011/07/port_authority_plans_to_buy_th.html#incart_hbx "The Port hopes to buy a three-story brick building at 1100 West Ninth St., at the edge of the Warehouse District. The property sits immediately south of the Port's waterfront property and just east of the Flats East Bank development site."
