  1. I did a quick search and didnt see anything online about 2012 concerts down there. I realize it isnt really summer yet, but any idea if they'll have those concerts again this year??
  2.
  3. Here's an image of the proposed Lakefront plans from the cleveland.com story. Just figured that I'd post a quick reply with the plans so people dont have to link to the story to check out the image. http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2012/03/cleveland_council_oks_lakefron.html
  4. I was able to see a bit of the building's structural steel from the interbelt bridge this morning.  And it's still got a ways to go until topping out. Cant wait until it reaches it's final height. The building should be a nice addition to the Cleveland skyline.
  5. That means "if" they start (or technically continue) working on the project in the next 3 weeks they'd only have 9 months to complete the renovations and open the hotel?? I'm hoping that it'll happen. But it just doesnt seem like enough time with the condition that the building's currently in. http://maps.google.com/maps
  6. With all of the world class hospitals in the Cleveland area, I've always wondered why none of them have had a building downtown. Hopefully this partnership will happen and the "sports and medicine facility on the lakefront" will become a reality!!!
  7. I read the above article that said the Nashville MM was 11x the size of Cleveland's, that cant be right, can it?? Even the image of their MM in the link shows a building similar in size to the Cleveland MM. According to Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tallest_buildings_in_Nashville the tallest building in Nashville (and also in Tennessee) is the 33 floor AT&T building. Just seems odd to me that their MM, would be not only that much larger than the Cleveland MM, but also that much larger than all the other buildings in the city!!! Even if it was a similar number of floors, to be 11x the size of Cleveland's MM it would have to take up 20 some blocks in the city, no way that could happen??
  8. Here's a FEB webcam update. Not too much noticeable progress since some of the last pics were posted. http://www.flatseast.com/webcam.htm
  9. It's lookin good!!! Cant wait to see the panels go up.
  10. Oops, I didnt even see the link to the article there. I imagine that those numbers will decrease a bit, but its good to be ahead of the projections for now.
  11. There have been a lot of changes to Phase I & Phase II and to the overall project since they started working on the FEB years ago. I couldnt find an exact breakdown of what's currently in Phase I and Phase II. But the FEB website does give a list of things on it's homepage that seem to all be included in Phase I: •Casual and fine dining •Clubs and entertainment venues •Boutique hotel •Full-service health club •Riverfront boardwalk, 3-acre beach and 10 acres of inviting green space •Environmentally-conscious design and construction •Cleveland's newest downtown office tower •Access, connections to key attractions downtown So I would think (hope) that whenever Phase II is started that it would include the apartment aspect of the project. http://www.flatseast.com/
  12. 64,000 people sounds like a good number for the first month. Any idea if that's how many they expected or if there were projections on how many people would visit the GCA??
  13. Here's a pic, from the MM webcam, of a few of those "structural members" that have been installed at the site. http://www.clevelandmedicalmart.com/about/live-web-cam/
  14. I agree mrclifton88 the 3rd pic down from MayDay is a good one!!! It'll be interesting to see that same pic in 2 mos / 4 mos / 6 mos, etc. The building is gonna look good from the Shoreway once glass starts going up.
  15. It's been a while since I've been down to the FEB site, but I made it down there this past weekend, and I got some pics.
  16. Speaking of Cleveland's downtown streets ... does anyone know if Ontario St. between Public Square and W. Huron / the Q will eventually be repaired or resurfaced?? It's been a month or so since I was down in that area, but last time I was there the road was pretty bad. I could see waiting to do any street work until construction is completed in the area. But I would think that the city would want a nice smooth pothole free street in the area that will hopefully have lots and lots of out of town people coming into it every day??
  17. Saw this article about the Schoefield from a couple of days ago. http://www.newsnet5.com/dpp/news/local_news/cleveland_metro/kimpton-to-open-boutique-style-hotel-in-historic-schofield-building-in-downtown-cleveland Kimpton to open boutique-style hotel in historic Schofield Building in downtown Cleveland CLEVELAND - A new 161-room hotel is expected to open next year in a historic building in downtown Cleveland. According to Kimpton, this will be the city’s first hotel of its kind and will feature a chef-driven destination restaurant and more than 7,400 square feet of meeting and event space, including a ballroom and outdoor roof terrace. The building will also include retail space on the ground floor, as well as 25 luxury apartments on the building’s top four floors. “Cleveland’s downtown business district is ripe for a unique boutique hotel, particularly one that showcases such an iconic, historic property as the renowned Schofield Building,” said Kimpton CEO Michael Depatie. “For us, it’s especially exciting to see the demand for the Kimpton brand and the boutique concept in general spreading to more mainstream cities in the Midwest and other areas of the country outside the urban centers of New York, LA and San Francisco.”
  18. Cuyahoga County posts copies of medical mart contracts online, fulfilling promise http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2012/02/cuyahoga_county_posts_copies_o.html CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Cuyahoga County on Thursday kept a years-old promise to publicly post all contracts related to the $465 million, taxpayer-financed medical mart and convention center under construction in downtown Cleveland. Thirty-two contracts were posted Thursday evening on the medical mart page of the county's website. http://cuyahogacounty.us/en-US/medical-mart.aspx

LaTourette, Kucinich and Jackson rally to find funding for Inner Belt Bridge http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2012/02/latourette_kucinich_and_jackso.html Local elected leaders and two U.S. Congressmen this morning detailed a plan that they hope will pay to complete the Inner Belt Bridge project by 2018, far sooner than expected under funding delays announced by the state last month. The plan discussed by Congressmen Steven LaTourette and Dennis Kucinich, Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson and others, calls for the Ohio Department of Transporation to apply for a large federal transportation grant known as the Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grant program.
  21. Great pics!!! Definitely a different perspective on the construction of the tower. Thanks for posting jssdecker, continue to keep us updated.
  22. ^^^ Thanks for the pics Paul. That tower is really gonna change the look of driving east into downtown over the next year or so!!!
  23. Here's an update of the construction progress from the FEB webcam. http://www.flatseast.com/webcam.htm

2036 really?!?!?! :wtf: That's not good. It makes the 2014 - 2016 delay not look so bad!!!
  25. A construction crew has begun tearing down part of the Horseshoe Casino's parking center that collapsed while concrete was being poured earlier this month. About 15 men were working on the site of the incident at the corner of Prospect and Ontario avenues, catty-corner from the Higbee Building, which is being renovated for the casino. The crew is using heavy machinery to break rubble into smaller pieces for removal. http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2011/12/crews_tear_down_part_of_damage.html
