Cleveland: Flats East Bank
They'll never be able to pull it off fully, because they can't dock as many (or perhaps none) boats on the east bank. I would think that some boats will be able to be docked on the East Bank?? Maybe not 5-6 deep, but I'd think (or at least hope) that they could still dock over there. Maybe FWD wont fully compete with Shooters, but any little bit of competition should be healthy. Shooters has had many many years without any competition in the area. Hopefully a few new places across the river will be good for the West Bank as well!!!

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
What is going to go in the area in the middle of the apartment complex?? As the construction started, I thought it might be filled in as the floors were going up, but it now looks like it's gonna be left open. Maybe a little "court yard"??

Cleveland: Downtown: Technology Center
Found another article about the Downtown Technology Center. It doesnt seem like too much new news, but figured I'd post the update here. A Canton tech pioneer, SecureData 365, plans advanced data center in downtown Cleveland CANTON, Ohio -- Northeast Ohio has the trappings of fast and efficient digital communications--including access to fiber optic highways and relatively cheap, reliable power. Yet most corporate and commercial data centers have been built elsewhere. SecureData 365, a Canton-area technology pioneer, thinks the tide is turning and it intends to ride the wave. The five-year-old company will soon expand its operations to Cleveland, becoming the largest tenant in the re-emerging Cleveland Technology Center downtown. Company executives say they plan to invest $2 million initially to create Ohio's most advanced data center and that their customers will invest $50 million more in equipment. "We think we have the right model at the right time," said Michael Campanelli, the company's executive vice president. By running two nearby data centers on separate power grids, SecureData expects to lure back local companies that have been sending their digital information elsewhere to be managed and protected. It's a plan that could speed Cleveland into a rapidly growing industry, experts say. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2014/08/a_canton_tech_pioneer_secureda.html#comments

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
Flats East Bank developers wrap up phase two financing CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The developers of the Flats East Bank project tied up a financing package last week for their second phase, clearing a path for the 23-acre waterfront district's first apartments to open by June 2015. A flurry of public filings on April 15 signaled that the Wolstein Group and Fairmount Properties had consummated a $149 million deal that took more than 18 months of negotiations. The lower levels of a 243-unit apartment building already are taking shape near the Cuyahoga River, where the developers plan to add more restaurants, entertainment venues, parking and public spaces. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2014/04/flats_east_bank_developers_wra.html#incart_river_default

Cleveland: Port Authority News & Info
The Port of Cleveland gets ready for the Cleveland Europe Express CLEVELAND, Ohio--The Fortunagracht, a 12,000-ton cargo ship from Amsterdam, is threading the Saint Lawrence Seaway on its way to Cleveland and maritime history. She's the lead ship in the Cleveland-Europe Express--the first regularly scheduled container shipping between the Great Lakes and Europe. The vessel is expected to sail into the Port of Cleveland Friday night or Saturday morning with a load of machinery, specialty steel and windmill parts. She'll load up with Midwest exports and steam back to Europe, but not before experiencing a Great Lakes greeting. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2014/04/cleveland_gets_ready_to_shout.html#incart_m-rpt-1

Cleveland: Innerbelt News
Inner Belt Bridge steel skeleton to be blown up in June or July The demolition is now expected to occur in June or July on a weekend day. It is likely to be a one-time event, though ODOT is still studying whether it needs to have two explosions on separate days. ODOT wants to minimize how long it has to close off West Third Street, Canal Road and Commercial Road/Central Viaduct, underneath or next to the bridge. Doing the entire demolition in one fell swoop could create too much steel and debris to clean out while still managing to get the roads back in service for the Monday morning rush hour. http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2014/03/old_inner_belt_bridge_now_expe.html#incart_river_default And a few updated pics from the Innerbelt Bridge facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Innerbelt

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
Was there ever an announcement, etc as far as what this "public square revitalization" will involve?? There is a public meeting coming up in the next couple months where more finalized plans will be released by the designer. That's what I understood The plans have been out there for a couple of years now and it is no secret what will happen. http://www.land-studio.org/our-work/public-square-redesign Yep, I've seen this site before, but it was from 4 years ago. And even it has 3 options for possible changes to PS. I was just wondering if there was an "official" decision on what changes would be made to PS. I guess we'll find out more in a couple of months after the public meeting.

Has there been any talk about fixing up the buildings or new businesses coming in farther south on Old River Rd?? It seems like there are some good opportunities for the buildings between the Shoreway Bridge and W.10th St now that Phase II is under way.
