Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Nice. Where'd you read it? It'll be 10,000+ sq ft and in front of the NURFC and to the east, according to this video. Via 700WLW:

Cincinnati: Bicycling Developments and News
Welcome, XPetey. I think the ridership COULD be there in those other areas but right now I think the 'safest reach' is downtown, OTR and uptown b/c of the density, streetcar line and population with limited access to automobiles (ie UC) I'd love to see this system throughout the various neighborhoods. Bicycle ridership would skyrocket if there was a network of dedicated bike lanes and bikeways between the NBDs.

Cincinnati: Historic Preservation
Nice article. I've been working on the Rauh House restoration in Woodlawn as project architect for 14 months now. It's really coming together beautifully. http://architectsplus.com/residential/historic-contemporary.html Hey, that's great! I read about its story in Preservation Magazine. This deserves major attention, IMO. And great article, Caseyc - thank goodness for Soapbox

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
I believe the building(s) in question are south of Henry Street. They match the article's description of "four connected buildings, the easternmost of which would be acquired and demolished to construct a maintenance and operations facility for the overnight storage and servicing of the streetcars." google aerial map: http://g.co/maps/w3xyc Some background of these buildings via Digging Cincinnati History (http://www.facebook.com/diggingcincinnatihistory / http://diggingcincinnati.blogspot.com/): "FYI - if this is on the south side of Henry Street, the building in this block that borders Elm Street is the former Christian Moerlein Barrel House and the lone building on Race Street is a former stable and undertakers dating from 1874." streetview of race st. building: http://g.co/maps/3crgv UPDATE- a quick search on hamiltoncountryauditor.org looks likes these are the parcels in question: 1915 and 1917 race street: sale date: 11/21/08 for $85000 1910 and 1913 ELM ST sale date:10/8/08 for $500,000 1910 Elm: 1913 Elm is a parking lot: All of the above are owned by: NINETEEN TEN ELM STREET LLC 4040 MACARTHUR BLVD #315 C/O ORTON DEV NEWPORT BEACH, CA 92660 USA here is a Orton Development in Newport Beach: http://www.ortondevelopment.com/about.htm

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Someone (like UrbanCincy or Soapbox) should really look into this issue and get the city thinking of innovative TOD - a showcase for new development in the region

Cincinnati: Evolution and Changing Perceptions of Urban Neighborhoods
I agree... that's why I haven't been bragging about the "no murders in the past 6 months" metric. (No offense to those who have been.) It'd be pathetic to brag about a dearth of homicides but when the perception to some is "most dangerous neighborhood in the country" or a neighborhood rife with killings - it's worth sharing.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Keep in mind that the plan CincyGuy posted is old and doesn't consider a streetcar route. As shown, there's no way a streetcar will run through the parking lot by the front doors like that... Sherman makes a good point. More can be done with this site, especially if a streetcar is considered into future plans. there are plenty of nearby examples. A garage or rooftop parking would solve the issue and allow for even more development. It'd be a smart development. It would be nice for the streetcar route to include a wholly pedestrian area like some other cities. The idea that the route has to stay on streets is false.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
It really is remarkable. The trip from the riverfront to Findlay Market will show off an amazing array of Cincinnati's power and potential.
