  1. Do you have a source for that? Have they stated that publicly?
  2. these lights are sweet: http://www.flickr.com/photos/thaddfiala/6815360880/#in/pool-1912435@N23/
  3. But logistically, does Cincinnati have a facility/facilities that can compete with other those of cities?

^Good point, yes. That's why phase 1 of the streetcar is only phase one. It needs to be a part of a larger system. Same goes for future light rail in the area. But I think an aerial tram to Mt. Adams is worth at least considering and much more feasible than an incline.

Don't let COAST define the boundaries of the debate.

An interesting idea. Not unlike the Portland Aerial Tram: http://www.portlandtram.org/ One citizen’s idea: A gondola from casino to Mt. Adams 04/15/11 at 3:34pm Written by cweiser I got cc’ed on an email to all the Cincinnati City Council members and Hamilton County Commission members. The idea, proposed by William Cilley of Wyoming: Build a gondola linking the coming downtown casino to Mt. Adams. (Full disclosure: Cilley is a friend, though he never mentioned this idea before. More disclosure: I always get lost when I drive to Mt. Adams and can never find a place to park.) Anyway…Here’s what we wrote to city and county leaders: source: http://cincinnati.com/blogs/politics/2011/04/15/one-citizens-idea-a-gondola-from-casino-to-mt-adams/
  7. As we drift farther and farther off topic, your comment made me wonder: Would either national political party ever choose Cincinnati to host their national convention? If not, what can the city do to attract such large conventions?

Like from the casino to, say, Eden Park Drive across from the Seasongood Pavilion? http://cincinnati.com/blogs/politics/2011/04/15/one-citizens-idea-a-gondola-from-casino-to-mt-adams/
  9. ^what does any of that have to do with the subject of this thread? Pendleton's density is remarkable. The vistas and streetscapes that one can see there are really striking.

    D'oh!
  11. ^you might want to submit your ideas of how to make the process better by participating in the Department of Building and Planning's PLAN BUILD LIVE initiative: http://planbuildlivecincinnati.com/
  12. agreed but I think these might come later. The MLH is special though. A flagship Skyline and LaRosa's would have to be pretty special to be included in the Banks. I could see them coming into the development at a later stage but not now...they aren't exactly "destinations" And don't forget the Montgomery Inn Boathouse is already at Sawyer Point and bills itself as "the most popular restaurant in Greater Cincinnati" http://www.montgomeryinn.com/boathouse-montgomery-inn.php

Here's kind of what I was describing...I have minimal graphic skills: And another hack:

Clifton needs a new flag... I did that but it took like 5 seconds in paint to erase the seal components. I like this a lot. I wonder what it would look like with just a red C in the middle instead of a white C in the second circle...
  15. Excellent photos. I forget...but is there a plan to alter the flood wall at all as park of Smale Riverfront Park?

I just find it asinine that taxpayer funds can be used to build the transit center but taxpayer funded transit can't use it. What am I missing here?
  18. Even Vas You Eva in Zinzinnati? says how when the West End (or Kenyon Barr?) was demoed there wasn't much to save...
  19. ^nice story. Even though your mother is Lutheran, she might enjoy Old St. Mary's German services: http://www.oldstmarys.org/
  20. There's a guy on reddit asking for advice: http://www.reddit.com/r/cincinnati/comments/qkyz8/good_things_to_do_in_downtown/
  21. That's why it's imperative to connect to Uptown so UC is connected to the Banks. The Cincinnati Streetcar isn't a done deal. It's only just begun.
  22. That's precisely my point. I was trying to underscore the point that Main and Vine aren't very "risky" anymore...though north of 15th on Vine is pretty untouched at this time. There are many frontiers to OTR so the hipsters should be welcome for a long time...
  23. ^fantastisch
  24. that's enlightening...did you introduce yourself and try to strike up a convo? or was it just mega awkward. +1 But it is revealing, even if only of individual experiences. What it indicates to me is that the ripples of urban redevelopment are starting to overlap which can cause friction. The more pioneering ought to be ahead of the curve with their supports in the trough of the wave behind them and then the next wave is less pioneering but brings with it an even broader clientele...that's not a very eloquent way to say it but my point is that the redevelopment is probably becoming a little too concentrated. Maybe it's time for new risk takers to take the next big step...somewhere other than Vine or Main. My two cents.
