  1. I bet it'll be running in five years, if not sooner.
  2. Agreed. I've heard this sentiment from multiple people. It would be a lost opportunity if they weren't included at this highly visible and accessible location.
  3. a great read about the Terrace Plaza - written in 2009 by Casey Coston http://www.soapboxmedia.com/features/01006terracehotel.aspx as the column says, this would be the perfect location for a W hotel - sorry to say it won't happen

RIP Very sad to hear of this loss. I very much admired Robert - his beautiful work and kind manner. I remember how he would shovel snow early in the morning and clear his sidewalk before most of his neighbors were even awake. I will think of him when I board my next train or shovel snow in the early morn. I remember he once suggested we abolish state lines and reorder the country around watersheds. What an exemplary man - he will be missed!
  5. Does anyone know what the connection between the Park and Yeatman's Cove/Sawyer Point will look like? Also, is this rendering accurate:

  7. This is exciting. I'm glad it's being incorporated into the Riverfront Park.
  8. Agreed. Good reason for the city to reject that term from that bid.
  9. Cincinnati parking terms: No free spots Written by Barry M. Horstman http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20121213/NEWS/312130027/Parking-terms-No-free-spots Cincinnati drivers could say good-bye to the 10 minutes of free parking they now get on Downtown street meters and hello to the boot on ticketed cars if City Hall accepts some of the terms requested by groups seeking to lease most of the city’s garages and on-street spaces.
  10. People need to wait and see what our options are before they judge. All I really hope is the city has some savvy negotiators. There's a reason the city has basically thrown up its hands regarding parking and it has nothing to do with a quick influx of cash. For whatever reason, it doesn't have the capability to do it well. That's just a fact - doesn't have to stay that way but that's been the status quo for awhile and it's not the personnel's fault. Maybe someone else (Port Authority, an evil 'corporation', whatever, ...) can do it better and maybe the city should entertain that option while also making sure Cincinnati doesn't get screwed. It doesn't have to be a zero sum game. The alarmism around this issue - from the media, certain city councilmembers, et al - is pretty disconcerting.
  11. I just hope they bring back the rooftop bar.
  12. here's another perspective
  13. When will the contracts be awarded?
  14. This might be a good place to continue the conversation about parking requirements for OTR developments: Parking Requirements and the Future of OTR Development http://www.blogotr.com/otr/guest-post-parking-requirements-and-the-future-of-otr-development/
  15. I figure this is the best thread to post a link to an article about easing parking requirements for developments in OTR: Easing Development Requirements for a More affordable, Pedestrian-Friendly OTR

Maybe a MOD can make a Hudson Yards thread. Feel free to delete this comment if/when you do.
  20. If the tower is set back from the street, I bet it will most likely be more set back from Race Street and Fifth Street than from Vine Street. It's really a guessing game at this point and matters of personal opinion. I find CincyGuy and jmicha's arguments persuasive. Let's hope the new tower adds some variety since the buildings around FS are all kinda blah. ### More on Bryant Park: http://www.pps.org/great_public_spaces/one?public_place_id=26
  21. That is insane but changing the law to make on-street parking at a broken meter illegal would wreak havoc I think. More than one time I've ended up parking at a broken meter. I prefer the peace of mind of paying for my meter though - can I get ticketed for parking at a broken meter? Also, do you report these baseball bat wielding vandals? I would think if this was a common/repeated problem there who be a way to find out who was behind it.
  22. yeah - vine street should def have a waterfall - a really long one if i had my way. it's vine street after all - cincinnati's main drag
  23. thank you for saying this
  24. agreed 100% - cincy could use something like the HSBC building (but updated) my dad took this photo of the former HSBC building in HK in the 60s (PHOTO) and here's the wikipedia image for it (PHOTO)
  25. What strikes me about the Jahn design is how wide it is at its considerable height. The top of Carew Tower is so squatty. Also, it would be nice for a Cincinnati skyscraper to have an exoskeleton or something a little unconventional.
