Hudson Yards is going to be unreal. Like, I can hardly comprehend it.
  2. you're not the only one wondering that, Rob... amirite, natininja??

thanks for sharing. is that you in the last photo? that guy looks just like your icon!
  4. The roof of the casino sticks out like a sore thumb. A green roof would be better. True.
  5. I like some of the stuff on WVQC.
  6. Dayton has electric trolley buses and we all know everyone wants to be just like Dayton. Oh wait, no, everyone wants to be like Portland. Portland must have a helluva trolley bus system.
  7. Yea, downtown really couldn't use a 24-hour presence. Or a destination on what, for decades, had been a hideously expansive surface parking lot. Or a tourist-friendly restaurant that's not on The Banks like Margaritaville. i meant aside from the obvious things that come with a casino (gambling). Also - Jimmy Buffett just sold his stake in the Cheeseburger in Paradise chain. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/11/29/jimmy-buffett-sells-cheeseburger-paradise-restaurant_n_2207946.html
  8. I think the buffet is the only thing that the casino is bringing to downtown that it lacked and could have used. *buffets aren't my thing
  9. Beautiful - thanks for sharing... ...did atlas just "woof"???
  10. I think it's 22 but if it is 22 will it be built to support additional floors so it can one day be taller than Carew? That'd be amazing.
  11. The Banks really needs caps on FWW so it becomes a part of downtown. Now it feels very separate - at least to me.
  12. Oh man, that is sweet.
  13. Wow, this is horrible!
  14. OTR building to house entrepeneurs, squash courts Grandin Properties, Emanuel reach deal http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20121128/BIZ/311280110/

How tall will the tower be now?
  16. I really hope this gets built and it's a color other than brown, tan or gray. I second what Living in Gin said about FRCH doing the redesign of the base. About Brooks Brothers - it would be a shame for the downtown store to close. That would not bode well for downtown retail. That being said, Cleveland has two BB stores: one at Tower City downtown and another at Eton Square (on the Outerbelt Freeway). Downtown Pittsburgh, however, has a really great Brooks Brothers (one of the best I've ever visited) with no suburban counterpart. Comparing Cincinnati urban retail to Pittsburgh and Cleveland - I think it's headed in the right direction if we can maintain the status quo (don't lose any big names) for the next couple years. As more developments pop up, I'd expect to see downtown Cincinnati start attracting more one-in-a-region type stores. Kenwood continues to be DT's biggest competitor but with the improved hotel/housing/dining scene downtown I can't imagine that dominance lasting forever.
  17. I just looked up this address on streetview. That is depressing. On a lighter note, I have a few friends who went to Saint Ignatius. I didn't know it was in Ohio City.
  18. I think it's valuable because it reaches those who aren't savvy internet users or do not have internet access. We're moving in the direction you suggested however. I wonder how much the city spends on Media Bridges - I have a feeling it's not a budget buster.
  19. Depending how far along this McD's is in the planning stages, you could at the very least require some approval of its design before construction with stipulations to make it more urban-friendly...as far as that is possible.
  20. Speaking of that block, Peaslee has to be one of the ugliest buildings in all of OTR.

honestly, what is the obsession with 'hipsters' - it's just a style fad or something who cares...
  22. I agree that the fears of losing the park are overblown. Still good to let it be known that the park is important to the neighborhood. We'll see what Core has to say if/when they choose to say it publicly.
  23. ^you mean 15th/Vine?
  24. I think Metrobot is cool I guess but it seems dated. I'm glad it's not on the sidewalk. I'm not sure where it should go - I'd have to look at it.
