  1. I think this is the house my girlfriend's brother & fiance are building. I'll get some pic as it goes up.
  2. I would call it market value. What for-profit developers would put their time in money in these projects if they did not think they could see a decent return on that investment? No one is trying to put 50K into a property they bought for 100K and then put it on the market for 70K
  3. I hit Milano's this weekend. I thought those were going to be different storefronts - I didn't realize it was just one huge Milano's. I wanted to hate the new place because it lacked the grit and character of the original, but it was actully really nice. I didn't eat anything but I did enjoy the new bar for about an hour. They got points for having some cool black and white photos of the original on the wall.
  4. Just bumping the thread to see if there was any update on what's going on in this development
  5. Thanks for the updated pics - keep them coming. I agree - as long as Milano's doesn't change the ham grinders I guess the new location won't hurt - although it won't have as much character. I have to admit I'm a little jealous of all the options that the UD kids have now. Any idea what businesses (other than Milano's) will be going into the new storefronts? They need to bring Gem City Records back!
  6. ColDay - awesome pics! I'm new to this site and this is the first time I checked out this particular forum. I was shocked to sees pic of my hometown. Like many cities, Wheeling's downtown business disctrict had been on a steady decline for a number of years losing both office and retail business. However, recently there has been a lot of rehab architecture development in Center Wheeling and downtown that has restored a number of large buildings that had fallen in disrepair into new and pretty cool office space, luring businesses back to those areas. I agree that many of the buildings are in need of a "scrubbing" at the very least, but the city is in the process of giving grants to businesses to restore the historical facades of the buildings. I don't make it back there often, but in the future I will try to get some pics of the newer rehabs & restored facades as more are completed.
