  1. As usual the warehouse district street fair was a lot of fun. Between yesterdays family day at Browns stadium and todays st. fair my son got to meet the whole array of Cleveland sports mascots, except for the one he loves the most, Moondog. I would like to see them expand it onto W. 9th as well, make it two entire blocks, that would be something. And although it's fairly packed, there doesn't seem to be the draw I'd think a downtown event in the middle of summer should draw. I even saw a Crocker Park escapee, polo shirt tucked into khaki shorts.
  2. That crane was just being set up (but still down) on Friday and then it was actually up on Saturday. They are really trucking along with that project.

The Hillis trade was a nice one, the Falcons trade wasn't. Take off the homer glasses and you'd see the truth. McCoy is a smart and above average in accuracy. But his lack of arm strength and his inability to play within the pocket look like too much to overcome. As for all your skewed numbers defending Colt, HE didn't beat anyone, the Browns beat NE and N.O. And it wasn't really the Browns who beat the Saints, it was their defense and Ryans defensive game plan. If I recall correctly McCoys numbers in both those games were very average. In fact, I just looked up the numbers and McCoy dinked and dunked his way to 174 yards with no TD's. In the N.O. game he passed for a staggering 74 yards. The first Pittsburgh game was the only game that I can recall that he actually had an impact on the game. The last few games he was an INT machine. Sounds a lot like the guy we're seeing at training camp. You have the right to be blind if you wish, ignorance is bliss. Until you actually watch this crap team play and it leaves you shocked that we haven't improved yet. Meanwhile all the people who have actual knowledge of the game aren't surprised in the least.

To be fair, I didn't just start doubting my pick during the family day. When we didn't make as many moves in free agency, when I read about how Colt was struggling and when Hodges got hurt for the year, that was when I started doubting. But then when I saw with my own eyes what this team was looking like, I confirmed my beliefs and dropped my prediction. This team has no depth at LB, a WR core that wouldn't strike fear in a college team and a QB who is unproven and has shown many signs of someone who can't make it in the NFL. Maybe there is a master plan from Holmgren and Heckert that was as fans don't see yet, but I don't trust anybody at this point. Everyone that has come in has sucked, these guys suck until they prove otherwise. Sorry, that's how it has to be.

Actually, I'm usually right about what I say with my sports predictions. It's not emotion, it's seeing something and making an educated judgement from what you see. I based my 8-8 solely from our team last year and gave us a few more wins because of how easy our schedule should be. Now, with some of those teams improving (like Arizona getting Kolb) and us not filling the holes I figured we'd fill through free agency, I had to re-evaluate my prediction. Being a homer like most people in Cleveland does nothing but bring about disappointment. We actually had people chanting "super bowl, super bowl" at training camp in '08. That with an aging Lewis at RB, Derek Anderson at QB and no real defense. I saw us as an below average team and everybody jumped down my throat, but I was right. Oh well, I'm not too emotional, I just know what I'm talking about.

Went to family day at the stadium today, from what I could tell, McCoy will be out less than half way through the season. That kid is the check down king and can't fit a ball into tight coverage in the NFL. Wallace gives us a much better chance to win, BUT, if we're going to play the Luck lottery we might was well play Colt in order to lose more games. Little reminds me of Edwards, he can catch with his hands well but not with his body. So we'll see him dropping some easy passes on short crossing routes and catching the diving catches heading out of bounds. My previous prediction of 8-8 is gone, I see us at 4-12 this year.

I looked at the "bold predictions" or whatever it was called and I can safely say that none of those are going to happen. Colt will NOT pass for 3K yards this season. Haden will not lead the league in interceptions, even though I do think he'll have his fair share. The Browns have about 0% chance of going 4-2 within the division and I won't even entertain the playoff prediction.

There's only so many years you can give them the benefit of the doubt. Being a fan is kinda like dating a whore, you expect her to cheat, if she doesn't then you're pleasantly surprised. Thing is, I don't expect them to have a poor record this year, 8-8 is very doable. But that's mostly because of our easy schedule. We'll see, I haven't missed but one maybe two Browns games in 25 years. That won't change this year. I just don't get upset when they lose anymore because I expect it.

No, I don't post on Cleveland.com, I'm called a realistic Browns fan. I'm not a rose colored glasses homer like you people. If you're not smart enough to see the difference between bitching about a crappy sports team and complaining about a city that you never step foot in then I feel very sorry for you. The fall back rebuttal to everything on here seems to be "do you post on Cleveland.com?" I've seen it used quite a few times in my short time on this site. Kinda getting old. And yes, the Cavs had a horrid draft and the Browns had a horrid draft and free agency season.

Now Bunckley and the Browns aren't even confirming that a trade took place for that 1st round bust. I'm really getting sick of rooting for this team year after year. Nothing goes right. We have like 5 injuries from these guys walking from their SUVs to the facility. I love Cleveland but our sports teams flat out suck.

As a diehard fan since '86 I'm disgusted year after year from this team. Last year I thought we were turning it around. Great draft, good trades, nice free agent pick ups. Now this year we revert back again. We draft a DT that tweeted "huntin for the money" before the draft, who on film, has been seen taking plays off and being outright lazy. Now that fat ass is holding out, what a shock. And once he gets any sort of money he's done for the year. I think the Idiots realize this now so they trade for another DT 1st round bust in Bunckly or however you spell his name. I'm all for stopping the run, you've got to do that, especially in our division. But lets get real, this is a passing league, you need a great secondary and an elite pass rusher more than some fat dude plugging up the middle. So we still don't have any great receivers, we still don't have a pass rusher, we still don't have a slot CB, we still don't have a fourth DLmen, we still don't have depth at LB. Two drafts and two free agencies and this front office has added a RB, safety and CB. I'll hold off on saying whether or not they added a QB until McCoy has a chance to prove himself. With an easy schedule we may win some games and get people's hopes up much like '07 but when we play any real teams we'll get killed.

Eric Wright is outta here? That guy had one fluke season and then showed his true colors. He's soft, slow and has horrible fundamentals. If Detwa wants him they can have him.

I have no idea what this team has planned, but if they plan on overpaying TO or Moss then I'm going to be pissed (and by overpaying I mean paying them anything). If a WR is in their plans it had better be either Vincent Jackson or Rice. But we also need a DE, LB and safety. And we need those positions WAY more than we need a WR.

An ugly mess????? As a Browns fan I'd be highly disgusted if a season was an ugly mess!!!!!

Our two pick ups when FA starts will be a safety and Dlinemen. I could also see a guy for the right side of the line. I don't expect any of these guys to be household names or to be star caliber/potential guys. I really liked last years draft, I think we got at least 3 stars from that class, this year, not so much. I hated the "Phil pick". He'll be a big time bust, I almost guarantee it. That 2nd round DL pick should be solid. I don't see Little as a #1 receiver, so once again, we have a crop of 2nd, 3rd and 4th options, still no 1st option. I think we have a shot at winning some games this year due to the weak schedule. Much like '07 when we went 10-6 only beating one team with a winning record, and that was at home against the Seahawks who are notorious for playing poorly when they cross the Mississippi. I'd give us 8-8 this year but probably only going 1-5 in our division.
  16. I read that too. People saying that the Healtline is empty, Euclid has nothing from E. Cleveland to downtown...blah blah blah. The thing is, they probably live in Westlake where they see the 49 pass by with 3 people on it and assume that every bus in the Cleveland area is like that. Those people haven't stepped foot downtown in years, or ever perhaps. Last year, when the whole "please stay Lebron" thing was going on, I was downtown and was asked by a person for directions who "wasn't from around here". After giving directions and then some small talk for a minute afterwards it was said that they were from N. Royalton!!! They came downtown for the lebron rally and it was their first time downtown since they went to an Indians game like 5 or so years before that. People really amaze me.
  17. Yeah, made it the 216 wasn't as big as in past years but it defiantly drew a crowd. I just couldn't justify paying $500 for a bicycle seat over a bicycle tire made into some sort of stool. If it were 10 bucks I may have bought it and lugged it onto the rapid with me.
  18. Where are they going to store all their xmas decorations with no basement?

This had nothing to do with trading talent for talent. This was trading a pain in the ass for a needed position. JJ is a 4 but Casspi is a 3, we don't have a legitimate small forward on this team save that bucket of talent Alonzo Gee. From what I'm hearing is that there won't be a season this year anyway, let those overpaid A-holes miss a few paychecks. The owners need to take that league back. My only question is what happens to next years draft if there's no season? Do we get the 4th pick automatically next year and everyone else keeps their order in the draft?
  20. heatohio replied to a post in a topic in Sports Talk
Easy explanation, this team has no idea what they're doing. Chris Grant is folding under pressure and isn't cut out for the job. I understand two of our 4 picks, Iriving obviously, and then our last pick is a guy that we'll store overseas and hope that he's good in 2 to 3 years. Other than that, TT is a horrible pick with the 4th pick, and to waste a pick on a PF that we're just trading for nothing when there were a couple decent wing players available is just moronic. Those WFNY bloggers will have a lot to write about for years to come in this town.

Everything that I heard was that we couldn't find a trade partnet for the trade exception. That'll expire and be done with. Not too bad though, we save on some cap space at least. So what on earth is this team going to look like? Irving (1) Eyenga (2) Gee (3) Thompson (4) Andy (5) with key reserves being Davis, Erden, Jamison, Gibson... Probably pull off a trade with Sessions involved, if we don't, I say we run a whole lot of 2 PG sets. I think every PG on our team could play off guard as well. We still don't have anyone to protect the rim though, is that what this Thompson kid is supposed to do?

I'm not doubting that he can be a good player, but he isn't what the Cavs need. I'm sick of "great motor", "good feet", "upside". I thought it was bad when the Browns passed up on a top tier WR to drop back and pick up the guy that I like to call PHIL. If they were dead set against keeping....Ok the Cavs just had a blockbuster trade. That moron we just picked in the 2nd round for two 2nd round picks, probably in 2025, with the Orlando Magic. Anyway, if we were dead set against keeping JJ Hickson we could have picked Vesely at 4, then picked (and kept) this Harper kid. That gives us our PF replacement and we get our 3. So we get our 1, 3 and 4 in one draft. Plus we open up a nice trade asset in Hickson. Oh well, some ass obviously thinks I'm whining, but in reality I just want a Cleveland sports team to NOT suck for once.

I can only hope that I'm wrong and this is the case. Memphis says Rudy Gay isn't for sale, but they have to make some choices when it comes to their top pieces. And since he was the odd man out during the playoff run, he seems to be the one. I would have thought that a sniped would have leaked by know if it were the case though.

Listening to WKNR and it seems to be unanimous, this was a bust draft. Let's aim for that #1 pick next year so hopefully we can get it right. Hire me as GM and we'll be fine.

I wasn't glued to Texas Longhorn games and the few I did catch on national TV I wasn't focused on him because I had no idea who he was. But I read up on him before the draft and watched a few different highlight reels. He's JJ Hickson circa 2009, we obviously picked him because we didn't want to pay Hickson, so we take a guy on the cheap to fill his void. We only have JJ, Thompson, Jamison, Samuels and Andy at PF, perhaps we should pick two more in the 2nd round just to make sure we have enough. And no, I could care less about being right on a prediction, maybe you care about that kind of stuff, I just want a competent GM for my basketball team.
