  1. The libertarian side of me worries about this. Like, when can we expect the sugar ban? http://www.diabetes.org/diabetes-basics/diabetes-statistics/ Yup, because the private sector has done so well putting healthy products out into the market :wtf: Most products you see here have to have a bunch of the crap left out before they're sent over to real countries that have governments that ban this crap. The only concern you should have is the fact that you're a libertarian.
  2. I doubt it, that place is pretty nice. I was friends with a security guy who worked the night shift, we used to go in and kick field goals, work out and I even went through a couple of their lockers. Tim Couch had a small head, his helmet wouldn't fit.

http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2011/04/unsettled_tax_and_fee_issues_c.html So much for the anti tax stand that Mr. Tea party himself holds. I'm all for big corporations paying tax, the problem is that the vast majority don't and this particular one that is going to pay tax, a lot of it, is still given problems. Right wing hypocrisy at it's best.
  4. Do they have a definite design for the two malls yet? All the ideas tossed around, it was hard to keep up with what they are actually planning on doing. If they do anything less than a millennium park like design I'd be disappointed. They need to have an attraction, not just be a big patch of grass.
  5. I've been to casinos in nearly every state in the country and you are 100% right. BUT, it doesn't mean that we can't make public transit for all the locals the easier, more convenient route to take. The only people taking the Rapid to the casino are those least able to afford the casino--the urban poor seeking quick riches in the confines of the old Higbee building. Can't wait for the glitz and glamor! Not true, I can afford an evening at the casino and I'll be taking the rapid. Wouldn't think of driving. Me too Heat.....lets take the rapid together brother! Considering that I'm the only gambler out of any my friends, and my fiance hates going to casinos, I may have to take you up on that. LOL
  6. OK two out of thousands....trust me I've been to most every casino in America for my job. Your average casino goer isn't hopping a train. Let alone making the massive walk from downstairs at Tower City to the Higbee building. Dan Gilbert wants valet parking so they don't have to think after the long drive from Medina. Toss the keys to the Equinox and hit the tables! Unfortunately you're all too correct. I'll end my part at this. I'm not denying any of what you're saying, I'm just calling for them to make it just as easy, if not easier to take public transport then to drive.

  9. How boring and uptight do you have to be to wear a dress or a suit to a beach? I mean, I know it was 110 years ago but didn't comfort mean anything back then?
  10. I'd be for a parking garage for the casino without question but it CAN'T be on the river. IE: where the tower city amphitheater is now. That space would be better served as the site for a river side club or upscale casino restaurant. I'd say that it would be a nice spot for a loading area for a river/lake boat tour but I doubt they'd want to give that much incentive to leave the casino for that long.
  11. I agree about the 4 people in the car, it makes it more worth while and more environmentally sound. As for parking for $8, if our casino parking garage is like the ones I've been to all over the country, then it will be free. But sometimes money isn't the most important thing. We spend more money all the time to take public transportation, versus driving, because we know that it's the right thing to do.
  12. True, for the people in the southern part of the county it is not. But to the 10's of thousands of people in Lakewood, RR, Westlake, Parma, Brookpark and the other areas close to the rapid it is, and that should ease the need for an outstanding amount of parking. From Westlake to the closet rapid transit station is 17 minutes. Then you wait who knows how long for the train. Then you take a 17 minute ride downtown. Or you could take a 23 minute drive. Im definitely pro transit but in this case, the rapid does not serve most people. I got these times from googlemaps. The rapid comes every 20 minutes, and it takes just about 10 minutes to get from 117th to tower city. It could easily be timed so you get at the rapid when the train is about to arrive. I take the rapid all the time and work around the schedule in order to save on natural resources and for the headache free commute. I do believe that the rail needs to be extended into the westlake/bay area and down into the Independence area, ODOT owns this state though and they are 100% pro car. I go out of my way to use public transit, others can do the same.
  13. Every decent country has already banned trans fat and smoking is nasty and should be done in your house, not where I have to deal with it. I can only hope that this passes.
  14. I always thought that tower city would be revitalized with the addition of the casino. This accusation would put the power and risk into the hands of Gilbert who has all the reason in the world to lure high end shopping into the mall. That would put us above places like Pittsburgh, Detroit and St. Louis who have casinos without the "Vegas" feel of being able to splurge on a few nice items and pamper yourself. I wonder if this would be a positive or a negative in regards to filling in empty office space in the terminal tower? Nice amenities in your office building but than again a pretty big distraction as well. I could see a lot of extended lunches at the craps table. LOL
