  1. “Well apparently Atlanta” ???
  2. Here’s some coverage of its closure: https://www.cleveland.com/sunpress/2009/08/cleveland_heights_rta_holds_co.html In addition to the loss of sales tax, my inkling is the decay of Severance and lack of 24/7 reasons to get out here played into the low ridership. There’s just no business during 9-5 hours driving people to the Heights—it’s seemingly the opposite, with the entire population heading downtown or to 271. A weekend/evening trolley may work here, but I don’t think there’s enough daytime density to drive a circulator. With Van Aken and the Blue Line, Shaker Square actually seems like the healthiest of the Heights nodes.
  3. Correct sector? I notice Google, IBM, Verizon, and Visa (CardinalCommerce) are also on the speaker list.
  4. Definitely the most straight forward pathway of the bunch. The other east side neighborhoods require the 7, 9, or 32 down to the 48/A. Or a long walk...
  5. IMHO, the biggest issue with Shaker Square is the lack of access from the east side. It’s a 45 minute walk (35 minutes and two buses) from Coventry; a 45 minute walk (40 minutes and two buses) from Cedar Lee; and a 50 minute was (30 minutes on one bus) from University Circle. Let’s get a Heights Circulator—or at least scooters—to make these places less car-centric!
  6. Obviously he’s worried his outdated, unkept place in a quickly progressing neighborhood will reduce in value if there’s competition from new, modernized real estate. I call it “Little Italy Syndrome”. ?
  7. There was movement in the old Victoria Secret space this evening. The black covering was gone—not sure if they’re just adding additional Cleveland Water marketing mumbo jumbo or if they’re actually doing something, but I’ll see if there’s anymore to report tomorrow morning.
  8. Project Icebreaker would be at its nearest the size of a dime on the horizon. Making certain it doesn’t visually impair the horizon is part of the reason they chose the site they chose. At the same time, it’s close to the CPP station so it reduces transmission cabling needed. They did do their homework—promise!
  9. Late to the game and Wednesday likely won’t work for me. But if there’s another one coming up, Masthead also has communal tables.
  10. Ya—you can’t site turbines this big on land... with renewables quickly becoming the cheapest solution for new generation, I’m not sure how this is a waste of money. To answer the question, LEEDCo is giving a project update December 3 at Lakewood Park Woman’s Club Pavilion.
  11. Would this be possible considering the specialized needs of a courthouse building? Could be a great way to reuse the Landmark.
  12. So we’re all agreed they should add a parking garage and a Ferris wheel.
  13. Could also do what they do at Uptown—have paid parking, but make it free for a certain amount of time. Uptown north is free for forest 30 minutes and south is free for an hour. I assume they’d need more time than that—but if they did 1-2 hours free, commuters wouldn’t get 8 free hours of parking.
  14. Great point! Does anyone know—is it possible to put up an ADA space IF there’s a handicapped person living there, but remove it if there isn’t?
  15. Would love to see data on this. The clientele at outlets I’ve seen seem incredibly different from clientele at casinos I’ve been to.
  16. The actual site plan could probably use help but I agree this is a good idea in theory. Us pesky millennials like outlet malls—and the site use great for inner ringers, who are currently pretty far from any retail.
  17. Just want to point out the redirect KJP took there. Teaching us all a quote trick instead of responding to the Canon question. Touché sir.
  18. And AkzoNobel and BASF have offices here. We’ve probably more inorganic chemist talent in NEO than the entire sunbelt combined. Oh. And Ferro for pigments and color solutions...
  19. Okay. My turn: Siemens is moving their North American headquarters here. Their healthcare business will operate out of (and expand) the Med Mart while the remainder will build on lakefront land, connected by a CC expansion over the train tracks. It’ll also incorporate a Port expansion for the import and export of wind turbine components, in tandem with Siemens Energy, LEEDCo, and other NEO businesses. edit: this is my speculation. I’m not saying I know KJP’s scoop
  20. So @KJP, everything heard this far would keep, but update, the existing stadium? Also, re: the other stuff happening on this thread in the last 24 hours, there’s no way I’m going to be effective at work today ?‍♂️
  21. thanks, @Mov2Ohio. I knew Ameritrust was on Ninth, but if you look up thread, the PS lot buildings have a giant Ameritrust sign—hence the assumption that they may have had overflow offices or a branch.
  22. That’s what I got out of @Jenny‘s post—that the foundations may be left by the two buildings shown in previous posts upthread that were formerly used by Ameritrust. Knowing nothing about construction—if they were overengineered for a building bigger than the ones that sat on top of them, why wouldn’t they fit a new, taller building?
  23. Can we meet in the middle and settle on green? Just create one of those Singapore-esque style forest skyscrapers. It’ll do swell in the winter!! Or we could make it all evergreens and call it Santa’s Forest!
  24. ^I’m starting to come around to a new perspective. The current CC may not have the greatest layout, but it’s an incredible use of real estate. I’m thinking of LA and Philly and Jacob Javitz and all these monstrosities that take up 15 blocks. I’ve had several friends come into town and remark that our CC is nice because it’s not hulking. The current Hilton feels stranded right now because it’s disconnected from neighborhoods—but imagine it as a beautiful halfway point to grab a drink once the lakefront is a) built and b) connected through a land bridge. Couple that with a new S-W site on the River integrated well with a City Block and “Solstice Stairs” from TC down to the riverfront. Between the riverfront steps, TC avenue, public square, malls, land bridge, and lakefront green by the RRHOF, we have a welcome mat connecting the Lake to the River. Link that up with a courthouse tower, mixed use developments along the rest of the parking lot district, and you get ?
