  1. Say what you want about Windy, but out Cavs coverage has seen a pretty big drop in quality since he left. He's one of the best beat writers in the business. But as far as this article goes, yeah, he needs to stick to basketball.
  2. I don't think I have to tell you that nobody here claimed this alone would make them leave the city. I'll probably simmer down when the dust settles, but talking to the other kids after the meeting, I'm definitely not the only one who feels alienated by the city right now. I'm passionate about Cleveland, but much of the time it feels like unrequited love. But I see this thread has taken a positive turn so I'll try to do the same.
  3. As I've said, this is probably the last straw for me. It's clear who runs this city.
  4. For the record, I don't think this will destroy downtown..I don't want to sound like a whiny kid who didn't get his way. I think Cleveland is on the upswing..I just don't see it going in the direction that I personally feel it should. I did send out emails and maybe I'll try to make calls or attend meetings, but I'm fairly involved in the community and I agree that one person can make a difference here. What we really need to do is get Drew Carey on the phone :-P
  5. The City of Cleveland needs the casino more than the casino needs The City of Cleveland. This is such a ridiculous opinion and, unfortunately, one that Cleveland's leadership seems to share..and it's this kind of attitude that gives me so little faith in them.
  6. I received an email reply from Robert Brown this morning..
  7. Lurker here..just had to chime in on how disappointing this all is. I graduate from college in 2 years and I think this will be the straw that broke the camel's back for me. As much as I love Cleveland, I just have no confidence in our leadership to turn this city into the vibrant urban area it could be. We get projects like this, where the city bends over backwards for whatever new development project that is supposed to save Cleveland. Just reading the quotes in the article..it's all about catering to the casino experience..how about catering to the Cleveland experience and investing in the community? It's just frustrating how much potential this city wastes because of this type of short-sighted planning...missed opportunity after missed opportunity..
