  1. She's baack: Genius returns BY FEOSHIA HENDERSON | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER The Genius of Water is back downtown. The statue was returned to Fountain Square around 12:30, with a police escort. She was pulled behind a red truck, accompanied by four motorcycle cops, two in front and two in back. http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/ab/20060902/NEWS01/60902001/-1/CINCI
  2. I was down at the square today. All the panels have been placed on the video board. That baby doesn't need to be any bigger.
  3. I don't think it's quite the same, but it's still good. The beer prices have decreased. :) Cheaper beer?! I would say that alone qualifies "still good" as a gross understatement! :-o
  4. It will be interesting to see if the Probasco Market on Fountain Square will add anything to the mix.
  5. I guess everyone will be hitting the fountain square i-cam as soon as the sun comes up to check it out.

  7. I'm constantly amazed as to what comments on the board can generate discussion. In case anyone is interested, I don't really think Newport is a suburb (although NOTL is very suburban like). My point is that I wouldn't expect to pay $3 for parking at such a place anymore than I would expect to pay $3 to park at Kenwood Town Center.
  8. It looks like Tank bus 23 would get you to the Kroger in Bellvue. Where/how do you shop now?
  9. Well...... I have a problem with paying $3 at NOTL. It's in the suburbs. I shouldn't have to pay for parking in the suburbs!
  10. www.myfountainsquare.com is up as of today.
  11. The Fountain Is Moving: Celebrate With The Art Museum Reported by: 9News Time is running out to get up close and personal with a piece of Tri-state history. The "Genius of the Water" fountain has been on display at the Cincinnati Art Museum during the construction of Fountain Square. http://www.wcpo.com/news/2006/local/08/22/fountain.html
  12. I was clicking through some old bookmarks this evening and noticed that the Cincinnati Tomorrow web site is gone. It has been replaced with what appears to be one of those catch all commercial web sites with a few advertising links embedded in it. www.cincinnatitomorrow.com
  13. Hmmm. I wonder what other development he might be referring to?
  14. Those fees look to be in the same general range as Park Place.
  15. :? Maybe it has always been there. I thought it strange that it was quoting something in the first posting of the topic. It just looked like a strange place for it, and I didn't remember it being there when I was following the thread earlier. Edit: Oops. Never mind. I see where montecarloss split it from the Parker Flats thread.
  16. A point of clarification: Did the Cincinnati magazine article say the project had been changed to a single building instead of two, or is everyone assuming that based on the web site's rendering?
  17. I suspect there may be more profit in one building with 140 condos than two with the same count.
  18. :whip: Arrrrgggghhhh!!!!! So I go to the Fountain Square I-CAM this morning just before 10:00. I line up in the queue to take camera control. Wjen I get it, I zoom out just enough to get the bowl of the fountain and the base of the new fountain both in frame. I leave the camera right there. Out of sheer dumb luck, that is the moment they start the craning operation to lift the bowl onto the new base. Halfway into the lift of the bowl as it's being moved toward the fountain, my control time runs out, and the next person decides that moving the camera pff the fountain and zooming in to look at some dude taking a picture is more interesting!
  19. Just wondering what's up with the following thread. It seems to be sitting in the wrong place. It also seems to have been cut in the middle somehow. http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php?topic=9596.0
  20. Woo Hoo! Here we go! Vine Street closed Saturday morning Cincinnati Business Courier - 2:15 PM EDT Thursday Vine Street between Fifth and Sixth streets downtown will be closed for several hours on Saturday morning, to install the bowl of the "Genius of Waters" fountain on its base as part of the Fountain Square renovation project. The street will be closed from 4 a.m. to noon to make way for a flatbed truck carrying the bowl, and the crane that will move it onto the square, Cincinnati Center City Development Corp. (3CDC) said in a news release. http://cincinnati.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/stories/2006/08/14/daily49.html
  21. I agree. The lack of interest on Next is probably what killed it. Almost every development of this type has clause that lets the developer bail out of the sales contract at a certain point if there aren't enough pre-sales. I noticed that three of the 18 units are now showing under contract in the MLS, including the most expensive unit at 1,275,000. Anyone want to check out the open house this Sunday and report back?
  22. Office plan scaled back Sycamore Twp. zone commission to study proposal BY MIKE BOYER | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER A scaled-down version of a five-story office building off Montgomery Road that was once to include the now-closed downtown Maisonette restaurant will be presented to the Sycamore Township Zoning Commission Monday night. Called Sycamore Financial Center, the $34 million project on 9.5 acres east of Chetbert Drive, is half the size of the original Sycamore Square, a planned retail-office condo project, proposed more than a year ago by developer Cincinnati Capital Properties of Loveland. That project, which was to include the relocated Maisonette, three office buildings and a 1,300-space parking garage as well as condominiums was criticized by neighbors and Hamilton County planners as too large for the site. 23. It had a design center and a furnished model. It also had quite a bit of press following the announcement. I can't recall if it had a website or not. I stand corrected. There was a web site and it is still active: http://nexthotelandresidences.com/ Yes. They had listings in the MLS for a long time. When those listings diappeared was the first sign it wasn't going to happen. I think they had about two listed as under contract before they were pulled.
  24. That paint is really going to brighten things up. Walking down the alley to O'Malley's won't seem so dreary anymore!
