  1. Well, everyone got there 7% added in at closing, so if obviously was coming from somewhere else.
  2. While we were waiting for our unit to be built at Park Place at Lytle (also by Miller-Valentine), they were paying us an interest rate on our escrow funds of around 7% (which seemed high to me).

Hard to pick the favorites, but here are some favorites: Music: Billie Holiday's "I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm" Movie: Hi-Life
  4. Great shots. We were their, and you captured the event well.
  5. I saw what looked like a bunch of trainees in Chipotle yesterday afternoon.
  6. If you click the image from the article, you can clearly see the cincy images watermark.
  7. I was originally the The Terrace Plaza Hotel, built by the same family that built the Netherland Plaza earlier. It was a Hilton, then a Crowne Plaza before foregoing a flag alltogether. Basically, Netherland Plaza got their Hilton flag when they dropped Omni. Um sorry. It was the the "Terrace Plaza" before it was a Hilton. Please note I said "Terrace Plaza", not "Crown Plaza".

  9. I've never thought about it before, but I'm sort of surprised by that as well. Why bother? IMHO, the Maisonette name is tainted by the lackluster service and cuisine of its final few years. I have no idea how it held onto its 5 stars.
  10. It reminds me of that project at the foot of the purple people bridge.
  11. We used to go to the Kroger in Bellevue. I thought I'd pop into the one in OTR one afternoon, and realized the people working there were friendlier, and the place was a lot cleaner.
  12. Kaldi's Kitchen Closed For those of you that don't already know, the kitchen at Kaldi's closed earlier this week due to construction of an elevator for the living units above. They have some bagels, nachos, and soups; but that's about it. The sounds like the situation is probably a permanent one. I've become a big fan of Kaldi's. I find it aggravating that a better solution couldn't be found between the developer and a landmark tennant. :-(
  13. If the bands and crowd at the Inner Peace stage was representitive of Midpoint as a whole, I'd have to say last night was great opener. The crowd size picked up earlierier than I was expecting for a Thursday night. The bands were great. My favorite was the performance by "Eagle to Squirrel". If you've never seen them I highly recommend it. Apparently their show was pretty popular at Fringe as well. Their youTube videos , can give you a prety good idea of what they do, but you can really apreciate the full contribution of the dancers from the video due to the camera distance. I also spotted a couple of fellow Urban Ohio-ers in the crowd.
  14. Glad to hear that they're doing well, but I still miss the old location. It felt more authentic somehow. To which former location are you referring?
  15. So who's going? I'm working the Inner Peace venue Thursday and Friday. Anyone interested in a pre-show urban Ohio meet up at the Javier's happy hour?
  16. It was nearly gone when I saw it over Labor day weekend.
  17. I eat as much veal as possible to help reduce the methane introduced into the environment by grown cows.
  18. And to think I was mocked for posting this... http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,333.msg231909.html#msg231909
  19. Interesting. I was going to argue your point until I realized the counter point I was typing turned out to be supporting your position (I hate it when that happens). Your statement would support the idea that fewer people speed when the limit is set to 70, than at 55 (given the roads are designed for the higher speed). Anecdotealy (sp), this seems like what actually happens.
  20. Well, there's what I would like, and then there's what I expect. What I would like: [*]Another Jean Robert restauruant similiar to JeanRo, Lavomatic, etc [*]A nice wine/beer shop (open late of course) [*]A small urban grocery store (like a small Tesco's or something) What I expect (given office workers in the building will far outnumber residents at that end of town) [*]Another Starbucks [*]Some type of Deli that closes at 2:00 pm [*]A Stroud's (or whatever those gum, magazine, shops are called in all the office buildings) [*]A bagel shop or some other business catering to the office crowd for a quick breakfast, or munchies to the conference rooms on the floors above (closed on weekends of course) [*]A mini-bank Sorry if I sound cynical, but that atrium will be there to cater to the hoards of people working in that and neighboring office buildings, similar to what's in the ground floors of every other high rise downtown.
  21. People still speed regardless of whether the limit is 55 or 70. However, when the speed limit is 70. However, I have a theory that most drivers tend to keep their speed within 10 mph of the legal limit. So instead of going up to 80, most drivers would back down to 65. Just me educated guess. Personally, even with my radar detector, I doubt I'd have the cruise control on 90 if the posted limit was still 55. (Ohio excluded of course. The Ohio state police are unbelievably aggressive at catching speeders compared to AL, TN, and KY)
  22. I stayed in a hotel in Korea once that actually had a bed like that.
  23. I shake my head every time I drive by. Crescent Springs cleared all that land thinking they were getting a "Life Style" center similar to Rookwood. All they really got was suburban blight even less interesting that the Center of Cincinnati development (also by Bear Creek). I think the wooded trailer park it replaced looked much better.
  24. Well. the Metrople has been coexsisting with Nicholson's, the CSC, Trattoria Roma, the Aronoff, and Nada as long as any of them were there. Other than the building it a less than attractive building, I can't say there's ever been a negative presence in the area as a result of it being there than any other part of the CBD (including the renovated Fountain Square). We need to focus on the real problems, not the imagined ones.
  25. I'm constantly looking at the site, closing one eye, and adding 2 1/2 more phase one buildings with my fingers on top of it trying to visualize it. It's going to completely change that side of downtown.
