Some unrelated comments inspired by various earlier postings... 1). This location is only two blocks from the Aronoff and the rest of the backstage district. A development like this in that corner of downtown can only result in infill of supporting businesses. This is exactly what that area needs. Existing entertainment venues like the Blue Wisp will benefit from this. 2) While I agree that the Hyatt and Millennium could use some work (as well as the Westin), Hilton has already sunk some significant $ in a much need renovation of the rooms and freshening up of the common areas. It was looking really bad after the Omni group had it after the 1980's renovation. I cant believe the Terrace is still in business, that place is a dump. 3) It would be nice to see the Metropole upgraded, but I doubt it would ever be a real hotel again. Maybe some decent condo's, or entry level apartments like the old Broadway Hotel. If I were a developer, I'd probably build new on an existing surface lot (like Parker Flats) before doing anything with that building. It's not really interesting from an architectural point of view, and conversions are too expensive relative to new construction. 4) I can't express how amazed and excited I am over the explosion of new development downtown. Also, the number of people downtown on weekends is just amazing.

You would suddenly have waterfront property, and be able to sell for a 300% profit!

Does anyone have any idea where they are talking about? There's no UDF at the location downtown. UDF doesn't show nay stores on a Broadway in Cincinnati. I remember that view. Never been to Prima Vista, but was there probably over 30 years ago when it was another restaraunt. I think it was called the Sovereign or something.

Walkscore is a novel idea, but the 100 score for OTR is obviously incorrect based on way it classifies some businesses. The movie theater section lists several when in actuality there are none. Don't even get me started on those clothing options. :-) Update: Don't get me wrong. I'll probablu use it now that I'm aware of it as a research tool, but it seems like it could be sooo much better with a little work or a better source database.

Okay, so it's a facility that houses Humana's new regional headquarters, as well as a hotel to be run by a yet to be identified chain. The earlier posts made it sound like the HQ was a hotel.

Around 3:45, an apple employee on the phone at the Kenwood store said here was currently about a 4 hour wait to get into the store.

What's the other one? Humana's new regional HQ, near Eden Park and Reading. That doesn't sound like a hotel.

Bad example. Regardless of direction, one almost always says "down to the river" because is tends to be the lowest point topographically. I grew up in Northern Kentucky, we always reffered to the river (and downtown for that matter) as down because of the hill. If you're talking about Columbus or Dayton versus Cincinnati, then I'm with you on the "up" / "down" rules.

Unfortunately, this trick does not always work. :( Last time I went to Servatti's on Court and Walnut on a Saturday, I arrived ten minutes before their closing time (noon). Several people came in behind me to buy stuff. I thought maybe this would tell Servatti's that they need to expand Saturday hours. Instead, they went the other way. They are now closed on Saturdays. So now I buy desserts and pastries from Graeter's on Fountain Square instead. Thats because people kept showing up at the last minute on Saturdays so no one wanted to work that shift anymore. :-P

I never thought it was anything special relative to other places in town. I thought the food was unremarkable when I ate there (back when it was called the Rookwood).

Not yet. As of an hour ago, they are still cutting it down.

There are two that do that for the same failed project. The one over Race street from Fountain Place will still be there. The strange thing is that I really never noticed this one. I drive under it every time I come in from I-75 but I just didn't remember it being there. The one over Race I notice all the time.

Tallest building in city breaks ground BY THE ENQUIRER The tallest building in Cincinnati breaks ground at noon today. Western & Southern Financial Group's 41-story building at Queen City Square will be constructed on the east side of Sycamore between Third and Fourth streets. Great American Insurance Co. will occupy more than half of the tower, with other tenants to be announced. The building will be 86 feet taller than Carew Tower at 574 feet. Im having trouble visualizing where this on is. I cant remember anything crossing 5th street between elm and race.

There are event tents set up at the back end of the Queen City Club's parking lot on 4th street next to the property.

Does the lobby floor remind anyone else of the Cincinnati entrance to the Purple People Bridge? :-)
