  1. Great idea...
  2. Oh its real and its not spectacular
  3. wtf. I thought you were joking. Mayor John Cranley is really on cincinnati.com's comment section attacking streetcar supporters
  4. Random Questions: 1) Does anyone remember that picture of the subway first being built out to Brooklyn and the headline in the paper was something like "Train to Brooklyn? Who would ever go there". Then the article went on to talk about farmland in brooklyn or something. 2) Does anyone have the picture of the map Boston's first subway line and how small it was? I thought I remembered seeing both of those pics posted here
  5. The xavier basketball site has a large thread on it too(744 posts) http://www.xavierhoops.com/showthread.php?26334-Cincinnati-Streetcar-Yay-or-Nay The sooner people stop listening to 700wlw, the better. They are out of control with the misinformation
  6. Is there any current route POV videos? I couldn't find any with a quick search on Youtube. Channel 12 has one…I'll look for it Jake has one as well that the enquirer stole
  7. 661 pages for this thread. Everything under the sun was debated. The streetcar was dead, then alive, then dead, then alive about a dozen times until finally it rose from the ashes Yesterday's news was a LONG TIME coming. It truly is amazing looking at some of the older posts From the misinformation to Kasich to COAST to ballot initiatives to Shortfalls to delays to Duke Energy delaying to 700wlw to Enquirer drumming up fake controversy for page clicks to Smitherman to all the fake arguments and on and on and on… I got into this topic and thread somewhat late. I can't imagine the whirlwind of emotions you guys who started at the beginning are feeling. It's got to be gratifying. Thanks to each and everyone of you…Natininja, John Schneider, KJP, JMecklonberg, eigthandstate, and the rest I'm forgetting on this forum. You guys have been through the ringer and back. Now its imperative that we make this first line as successful as possible to help change the minds of the doubters. I never thought I'd ever say this but the momentum I'm feeling, and everyone else I've talked to, Cincinnati could be on the verge of doing GREAT things as a city and particularly with its public transit…
  8. Half a mile I believe
  9. But...But... What about the argument from Smitherman and Brian Thomas saying 'There's an oil filled electric line that cannot be moved under Vine street. Phase 2 is impossible because we need specialized professionals from Sweden to take care of that infrastructure'. That's at least $250billion
  10. I gotta give Cranley credit. That speech must have been really really difficult for him. On top of that, he was true on his promise not to veto. I hope they are all sincere on his promise to do his best to make it successful. I fully expected him to be Smitherman-like & go back on his word...making construction as difficult as possible. Cranley said they would hold fundraisers. We'll have to hold him to that. Cranley said he'd do his best to talk to private investors and try to secure more federal funds in the future. We'll have to hold him to that. I'm still annoyed he didn't sign it so the emergency clause didn't take effect immediately(wasting thousands more)...But in the grand scheme of things that's just nitpicking
  11. I believe FakeCinEnquirer may be referring to this announcement re: Smitherman and the NAACP last June; read this: http://citybeat.com/cincinnati/blog-4767-smitherman_temporarily_stepping_down_from_naacp.html No. Smitherman resigned for good. There's a lot speculation as to why. Well find out soon Smitherman also said today: "This is not over. These streetcar supporters are gloating but, as well all know in politics, things can change in an instant"
  12. Chris Smitherman just resigned as NAACP Pres.
  13. The hyperbole on am radio is already reaching hysterical levels. Marc Amazon called it a sad sad day for Cincinnati. Smitherman and murray will be on soon to completely make up random lies I'm sure
  14. Mike Moroski @mike_moroski 7m Cranley had ppl call cops, etc., to get 'em to City Hall today to defend him. My bud in District 3 refused. He tried to skew discourse. Mike Moroski @mike_moroski 6m Open Democracy is not alive and well at City Hall when a Mayor intentionally tries to bring speakers who agree with him. Meanwhile, John Cranley claymation has hit YouTube:
  15. I told y'all it was wrong to write off Murray. She looked very discouraged that she was dismissed so quickly by people during the first week on council. I may not agree with her on ANYTHING...but ultimately this is a vote on fiscal responsibility and it's becoming clear to just about everybody how fiscally irresponsible it would be to cancel the project. Amy Murray was visibly rattled immediately after John Deatrick's presentation to council re: cancellation costs a few weeks ago, saying she didn't believe them. Now KPMG has basically confirmed Deatrick's scenario, except they predict lower operating costs! Is she rattled yet again? Will she do the fiscally responsible thing and vote to continue construction? I certainly hope so, but I'm not optimistic since she supposedly said recently on talk radio that "the streetcar will be a rolling homeless shelter". She's not rattled. She went on 700wlw and argued that its fiscally responsible to kill the project now . She just does whatever smitherman, coast and cranley do
  16. Some speaker compared the streetcar to: -Hitler -Nazi's -Muslim extremists -racism -socialism and tied it all to Obamacare He was followed by a man dressed as Santa Claus who was drunk and didn't know you have to hold down the button to talk. No one knows his position on the streetcar
  17. I love being wrong :)
  18. We all know how the audit is going to go from the questions asked. The whole point of the audit was to confirm what smitherman and Cranley and murray wanted. Flynn and mann were used.
  19. P.G. Sittenfeld ‏@VotePG 8m VMayor @dsmann115: “I think we’re getting awfully close. … This is a wonderful development. The devil’s in the details, but this may do it.” Still means nothing without Flynn
  20. Really wish CAF and the rest would send a stern letter with exact costs for litigation. That tangible number would do wonders
  21. He rejected the offer. This is astonishing
  22. This is simply astonishing. Nothing will change their minds
  23. I suppose they could hold a press conference taking credit for getting the operating expense off the backs of the taxpayers… Lol…Nah
  24. In favor, no, but they may announce that they reluctantly need to go ahead with it because the costs are too expensive at this point to cancel phase 1. That with the help of the private business community and foundations, it makes the operating costs more palatable to proceed, but if only the prior council had not saddled them with the debt from this project, it would have been easier to do what the voters sent them there to do. They will apologize to the voters for letting them down and not being able to cancel this project and blame the prior council. Just a thought on how it may go Lets not kid ourselves. Cranley, Murray, and Smitherman are not going to favor this project at any point. The streetcar could cure cancer and they would still vote against it. I don't know why Flynn is still mystified at this point. The press conference is going to another 'moving the goalpost' one. More conditions that have to be met most likely Cranley will veto the vote thursday so we need Flynn
