  1. Cran man just endorsed Cecil Thomas over Charlie win burn for state senate. One of the reasons he said was because he wants to keep Charlie on council as chairman of the budget and finance committee. Cranley is worried that if winburn is elected, the new council member elected in 2015 might be a progressive and break his conservative council majority voting block
  2. FakeCinEnquirer replied to UncleRando's post in a topic in Ohio Politics
COAST has won their right to lie http://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/politics/2014/10/27/ohio-elections-commission-cant-police-political-tweets-court-says/18028295/?utm_content=buffer2d23f&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer&from=global&sessionKey=&autologin=
  3. Get ready. Chris Smitherman will collect signatures to give john cranley more power. http://www.wcpo.com/news/political/local-politics/voters-could-be-asked-to-give-cincinnati-mayor-more-power
  4. This is a good idea. And there are others. All of this is showing, again, that Cranley has the mind of a negotiator. He thinks that in the end the residents will pay $300 for a parking permit in exchange for living in our beloved neighborhood, and he's right. It's a neighborhood increasingly in demand, and we are not voting for him, by and large. That's a potent combination for him. I'm big on taking over this conversation and these are some of the ways to do it. I wish that instead of complaining, some of our proponents on council and otherwise would negotiate. Otherwise we continue to sound like little kids wanting to have our cake and eat it too. Totally understand this pov and this would be an ideal solution. To negotiate with good faith. The problem is many believe cranley has demonstrated over and over again that he is incapable of doing this. He's always scheming. He's always thinking politics first. He's always thinking of ways to scuttle the project and divide it's support. He's stated numerous times he will not support phase 2 , planning or otherwise, unless phase 1 is proven to be a success (which will never happen in his eyes)
  5. Man, what a false dichotomy: $300 parking permits or we're cutting the frequency. These are the options I'm giving you and there are no other options. So did we find out if cranley can legally do this? Can he just stop the streetcars from running anytime he wants like he said? Can he just park the streetcars during the weekdays and only run it for gamedays? He seems to be bragging about this constantly
  6. Imo,All part of the cranley Smitherman plan to try to make the streetcar fail. Cranley makes the threat of lower operation frequency again. This is precisely why I don't believe anyone who thinks cranley and Smitherman are trying to make this project succeed. Is one thing after another.
  7. Its not. I didn't explain my post the best way I should have. I was trying to relay his hypocrisy and clear pandering on the issue
  8. Charlie Winburn is most definitely using support for the streetcar as political pandering -Charlie Winburn, Monday Sept 29, 2014 1:12:20 https://archive.org/details/11140929BFC
  9. Chris Finney and COAST are at it again lying http://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/politics/2014/10/01/transit-agency-sales-tax-hamilton-county-sorta/16528633/ They are proven wrong over and over again, they literally fought for their right to lie in court. Yet the media keeps running to them with open arms
  10. Smitherman took an indirect verbal beating from Winburn and many citizens on the 29th Winburn and people were indirectly talking about him and his radio appearances among other things https://archive.org/details/11140929BFC
  11. Chris and Albert Smitherman have hired tea party COAST lawyer Chris Finney to represent them against the ethics accusations. Smitherman denies everything The lawyer for Rogers says he has direct evidence linking Chris Smitherman to a conflict of interest
  12. Stop the Presses: -Charlie Winburn Chrissie Thompson ‏@CThompsonENQ .@charliejobs1st: Would advocate for state to pay for parts of "comprehensive plan" including #cincystreetcar, Brent Spence Bridge, rail etc Is this a case of change of heart or just clear pandering?
  13. I did not see it but apparently Liz Rogers had some words for Christopher Smitherman today at the city council meeting
  14. Ethics complaint against Christopher Smitherman regarding Mahogany's from Liz Rogers attorney. His 2nd ethics complaint is less than a year regarding his brother's business http://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/politics/2014/09/29/mahoganys-takes-smitherman-to-ethics-commission/16419459/
  15. Are you just calling the Republican Party the Tea Party now? Amy Murray was endorsed by the tea party along with Melissa wegman last election. She also went to numerous tea party fundraisers. the tea party does not endorse establishment Republicans That said I'm encouraged by her soundbites.
  16. Rooting for you guys. Just think its going to be tough with so many tea party types. But then again, after watching the streetcar battle, I am not going to bet against you. The 55krc/700wlw AM radio machine is already ramping up attacks against it. 'I typically drive to chicago in under 4 hours' Brian Thomas 55krc yesterday Bill Cunningham also went off on it yesterday(The same bill cunningham who helped destroy metro moves in 2002 by saying 'Rail will bring in thugs & gangbangers from OTR to rape, pillage and plunder your loved ones"). Sloan was supportive and non supportive of the project at the same time. On the positive side, tea partier City Council member Amy Murray is endorsing researching the plan.
  17. The same anti streetcar characters will line up against it
  18. John cranley was on 55krc & it started off positively. He was talking about potential operating plans for the streetcar. Then he reiterated his frequency quotes: Combine this with his comments earlier about possibly having a plan for 'initial frequency', its pretty clear what he wants to do http://www.55krc.com/media/podcast-brian-thomas-morning-show-55krcMornings/thursday-with-the-judge-mayor-cranley-25321703/ Meanwhile Smitherman is going off again with his 150th podcast on 700wlw alone since 2011: 'They are not coming & they are not coming at a level that we can afford to operate the streetcar' Smitherman '88% of homeless people, which will be the target of the streetcar, love gift cards' Marc Amazon http://www.700wlw.com/media/podcast-marc-amazon-amazon/cincinnati-finance-bengals-and-sheriff-jones-25315361/
  19. So cranley uses the original parking deal as a wedge issue, vilified xerox and the deal, then proposes a new deal with the exact same company he villified. Reading over his previous quotes on the issue will be interesting Gotta hand it to cranley. He's politically brilliant. He is 100% about politics 100% of the time. The man never stops
  20. ^ A more plausible, less paranoid theory as to where we are now. More than likely, he'll just use the first part of that without the second. He'll say "I wanted to stop it but council overruled me" without actually admitting that it's a success. I hope you're right...The solution you mentioned would be a perfect 'out' for him politically. But then again, He's had continuous chances to get on the right side of the issue politically and still refused to budge. The first Haile negotiation, The independent audit...Just to name two off the top of my head. And he still tried to kill the project at all costs. I guess we'll see. Forgive me if I'm not entirely trusting of John Cranley or Chris Smitherman's intentions as it relates to the success of the project. Also, Cranley used the phrase 'initial frequency' regarding his plan. He still fully intends to cut hours should ridership not meet his expectations
  21. Bingo. You hit the nail on the head. In my opinion, Its not good politically for cranley or smitherman if the streetcar succeeds in doing exactly what its been proven to do all over the country. Its not good for their strong mayor initiative(since it will be a focal point), its not good for cranley's future political runs, & its not good for smitherman's eventual run for mayor (and president of the US as he said his goal is). They need this to be dragged out & a self created mess just to say 'See, I told you' Also, in development news along the streetcar line that you won't read in the Enquirer: http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2014/09/18/exclusive3cdc-adding-dozens-of-condos-townhomes-in.html?ana=e_cinci_bn_exclusive&u=YhY%2FQfXAMCgNyFrEjw9v+w0e0d9800&t=1411055346&page=all http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2014/09/17/exclusive-big-cincinnati-accounting-firm-moving.html?ana=twt http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2014/09/17/exclusive-over-the-rhine-s-hanke-building-now-full.html?ana=e_du_pub&s=article_du&ed=2014-09-17&u=YhY/QfXAMCgNyFrEjw9v+w0e0d9800&t=1410982082 https://www.facebook.com/cincystreetcar/posts/10152700794831675

  23. Positive Enquirer streetcar story is usually posted without promotion & buried within the same day. Its also normally not posted to their Facebook wall Meanwhile a negative enquirer streetcar story is front page headlines, promoted beyond belief, & posted up on their Facebook wall within seconds
  24. My guess would be no. He feels like he is an expert...On everything. That's why he has to be so in your face hands on with everything
  25. Enquirer covered the development near findlay market and naturally left out the fact its on the streetcar route or that the streetcar had anything to do with it
