Yet another development along the streetcar line that won't be covered by any local media except business courier: http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2014/09/05/14-million-redevelopment-project-coming-near.html?ana=e_cinci_bn_newsalert&u=YhY%2FQfXAMCgNyFrEjw9v+w0e0d9800&t=1409940662&page=all Hope the city is keeping track of all the development for a detailed map like every other city has done

Normally that's the case but Chris Smitherman, COAST, Dusty Rhodes,to a lesser extent John Cranley and the rest seem to keep coming like zombies. They've been around the political scene for an eternity with no signs of slowing down I mean COAST was for the stadium deals and now use the stadium deals as a reason why we shouldn't have built washington park, the banks, etc. They sent out multiple egregious tweets daily & even compared the streetcar as being worse than 9/11 Chris Smitherman was against washington park, fountain square, and seemingly everything, but now he's more popular than ever. He said that he's afraid the local water supply will be tainted in african american communities with syphillis and that the CIA is out to get him before comparing himself to Malcolm X. He literally had to be restrained from attacking people in City Hall during a city hall meeting.

Chris Smitherman is rapidly approaching the title of Cincinnati's worst politician: http://www.55krc.com/media/podcast-brian-thomas-morning-show-55krcMornings/brian-talks-to-smitherman-about-the-25246309/ He insults Ryan Messer in end of 1st half and beginning of the 2nd half podcast. Says he's nowhere to be found and they talk about his tax abated property . He also agreed with thomas that they could run the streetcar once a month Chris Smitherman also said there will be more votes to kill the streetcar soon. He mentioned SORTA will cut bus routes again to funnel money into the streetcar operations Thankfully the voting block of Mann, Sittenfeld, Seelbach, Young and Simpson should hold up. These past 4 days are as much of a coordinated attack against the streetcar as I've seen since the 2 referendums

They scheme, over and over and over again. They can't let it go. They must think about it every second of every day BTW, Chris Seelbach called out the Enquirer on Facebook over their streetcar sensationalist coverage. Carolyn washburn commented and seelbach responded with a great response

You're right. I guess its a bit of a stretch but I was thinking in terms of Negative publicity, over and over, and over and over, and over and over and over, from the start helped mahogany's demise as well

I've asked the same thing and for some reason the city continues to say nothing while getting blitzed with negative pr. The map idea is huge, even though die hard opponents will never believe it, because it can change the narrative of the media and casual citizen. Other cities have done it Meanwhile, wcranleypo picked up the story http://www.wcpo.com/news/political/local-politics/mayor-says-streetcar-might-be-too-expensive-to-run-except-on-weekends-special-events No fact checking. Now more people think he can just change the operating Times. They are using the mahoganys gameplan. Bludgeon the project to death with falsehoods and negative pr so that the stigma is so great that the average citizen doesn't try to ride it out of impulse. 2 years out and John cranley and chris smitherman are already trying to define the streetcar negatively. Keep in mind the new city manager will start soon. He will relentlessly attack it as well

From Eric Avner: It's time for people to tone down this damaging rhetoric. We (and others) have spent the last several months quietly coming up with options for a funding plan for the City and Metro and the community to discuss and debate. We all know a funding plan is needed, we appreciate the Mayor's position that a plan can't rely on the City's general fund, but there's no imminent crisis. There's time to do this right. There's time to contemplate a whole range of options. There's no need to be making (or over-reacting to) panic-inducing comments like these in the Enquirer or on WLW. It's not helping anyone. It's just a gratuitous ratings boost for media. If you want to be mad, direct that anger at OKI Regional Council of Governments' decision to not allocate any of the Federal CMAQ dollars for the first couple of years of operations. That decision is an entirely local one. It makes the timeline to secure the full operating plan a little shorter, but it's still not a crisis. We'll get there. Take a breath, people. — feeling frustrated.

Kevin Flynn, Lisa Wells & Bill Cunningham Interview Recap: 'I agree with the mayor' - KF 'I will not take money from the general operating budget' - KF 'Maybe I was snookered' - KF 'I believed the people that told me we would cover the operating cost' - KF 'We've been giving them opportunities. I've reached out repeatedly...I believed the top federal official who told me personally there would be millions for streetcar operations from the federal gov' - KF 'The mayor told me I was crazy to believe those people and maybe the mayor was right' - KF 'I was wrong' - KF 'We've continued to meet & we've continued to search for those dollars. There will be some federal dollars coming, some private money coming...But...Its not too late. People can still step up. But its time to stop all the frilly talk. It's time to stop saying we have plenty of time...I'm laying it down today' - KF 'PG Sittenfeld and other liberals just say we'll take it out of the general fund' - BC 'If you knew exactly then what you know now, would you have voted yes' - BC 'I'd say no' - KF 'Were not going to raise taxes to operate the streetcar, that means cutting expenses' - KF 'They won't be running as much' - KF on streetcar operations to save money 'These advocates got you out on a limb...Just walk the plank...Now you're the only one out there & you're having the plank sawed off' - BC 'If I knew that we weren't going to come any farther with operations money, I would have said no' - KF on streetcar decision 'I've made a mistake' - KF on streetcar decision 'The people who want to save the streetcar, just as in december, there's always opportunities...The jury is out. Its time. The gauntlet is down' - KF 'I made the opponents of the streetcar mad in december. I've made all the streetcar supporters mad today' - KF 'I've met with property owners in OTR. I've met with Believe in Cincy...I'm out there now saying its time' - KF 'The advocates for the streetcar identified the one person on council they could flip bc the guy has a heart as big as the outdoors' - BC 'They(streetcar supporters) targeted him because they know they could promise him things and not deliver...The sharks circled, they bit kevin flynn, and politically, they killed him' - BC 'The operating deficit is $5m/year...That's a whole lot of cops/ff' - BC 'Really the deficit is closer to 8/9m/year bc not that many people will ride it' - LW 'What if we keep have winters like we've had and we lose like 3-4 months of the streetcar' - BC 'The streetcar is not going to get very close to the Reds/Bengals games' - BC http://www.700wlw.com/media/podcast-bill-cunningham-bill_cunningham/streetcar-union-terminal-adrien-broner-90214-25238445/

All Aboard Ohio @AllAboardOhio This would ensure CincyStreetcar[/member] 's demise: http://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/politics/2014/09/02/cranley-run-streetcar-every-day/14964839/ … Feds will weigh in on this. They didn't invest in a part-time streetcar. Whoever in the city is keeping track of developments & making the map of developments near the streetcar line needs to start coming out with some data publicly like every other city has done.

Big News: Kevin Flynn is agreeing with Cranley about limited streetcar operations now on 700wlw They think it could be just a weekend streetcar...or lower frequency To be honest, and this is just my personal opinion with nothing backing it up, I think this is a leverage play for more private money into the operations of the streetcar

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Enquirer is a little late to the party Cranley 'We don't have to run the streetcar every day' http://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/politics/2014/09/02/cranley-run-streetcar-every-day/14964839/ Its pretty obvious what they are trying to do. Plan A) Delay the streetcar using any means possible and continue to raise costs for construction so Smitherman can bring his ballot initiative for the 3rd time to stop it If that doesn't work then: Plan B) Minimize the effectiveness of the streetcar by limiting the hours to bizarre times or use a variety of random schedules so limit ridership Plan C) Terminate the streetcar operations citing low ridership(as cranley loudly stated could happen, which I doubt, to cunningham) after a certain amount of years

Cranley said there's no requirement on operating frequency- Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
This is how John Cranley talks out of both sides of his mouth: 'Cranley said he's not sure where the money will come from, but there's still time to find it. Plans aren't expected to be finalized until October 2016' http://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/2014/08/29/cincy-state-project-dead-done/14824987/ $35 million for 2016 = relax guys. There's plenty of time. 1-3 million for streetcar operation in 2016 = Find it..NOW(Presumably Before it bankrupts the city, downgrades our credit rating, & turns us into detroit)- Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Just listened to the john cranley podcast. He revealed some new nuggets pertaining to the operation times. It appears his plan is to cut the frequency of the rides, potentially to just the weekends: http://www.700wlw.com/media/podcast-bill-cunningham-bill_cunningham/streetcar-webn-fireworks-dui-82914-25231023/- Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Dusty Rhodes @AuditorRhodes QUESTION: How are @CityOfCincy councilmembers seeking streetcar operating funding like the administration dealing with mid-east terrorists? Dusty Rhodes @AuditorRhodes ANSWER: Neither has a strategy yet.- Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
A few weeks ago Cranley blamed not having the Fort Washington Way cap on the streetcar When did the opposition switch to operating costs? Before they said the capital costs would bankrupt the city & turn us into detroit "Supporters keep telling me its progress. Bankruptcy is not progress" Chris Smitherman last year- Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Same characters fuming about operating costs of streetcar today. Rinse, repeat. Yet another enquirer article. Cranley, murray, and/or smitherman to make the am radio tour- Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
I care because: 1) they nearly stopped the project...completely...three times...And delayed it numerous years increasing costs because people did not take them seriously. They may seem helpless right now but are not finished . 2) they took control of the pr early on and we still have negative falsehoods continuing to this day that people believe. They have intentionally and successfully given an avalanche of misinformation to muddy up the issue and we completely underestimated the power of this misinformation. So when chris smitherman says a blatant falsehood like "they are going to use sorta money and cut bus routes to pay for streetcar operations", it's better to end that myth before it takes hold. 3) the success of phase 1 is directly related to phase 2 right now. We don't have the votes for phase 2. We know it, they know it. We have 5 votes for planning phase 2. Cranley will veto. If they continue to avalanche traditional media with negative falsehoods without us responding and attach that negative stigma to the streetcar, phase 1 will not be as successful as it could be. 4) for whatever reason, the streetcar has become much more than a streetcar in cincy. It's a battle of old cincinnati vs new cincinnati. It's a political fight between those who want the status quo and those who want a more progressive city. There has been 4 straight elections now that the streetcar has been a central issue. Think about that. It's a symbolic political fight- Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Mahoganys closing has really emboldened the anti streetcar crowd. Get ready. Smitherman and coast are really puffing out their chests and comparing it to the streetcar. Their gameplan is to negatively slam it every chance they get on am radio and every media outlet so that people visiting feel uncomfortable even being near it. They want to give the streetcar a negative stigma, like they did with mahoganys, so people instinctively don't ride it. Get ready. It's going to turn up a notch now and especially towards the completion.- Cincinnati: Christopher Smitherman
Bingo. Smitherman is good friends & supportive of Monzel and Hartmann. No way he's running against either. He's going after Portune to give HCC potentially 3 tea partiers/extremely conservative elected officials(Unless hartmann steps down & decides not to run again) That's why he's venting against the streetcar & supporting the tea party(or 'independent' movement as he calls it) on 700wlw & 55krc. - Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
