  1. Hahaha, thanks for the heads up. Quimbob, cincySAL and I were quoted. :D They botched the "nati" part of my name, though, and reduced it to "nat". :( Don't trash the nat! Here's the link: http://www.fox19.com/story/17961244/city-tries-to-buy-building-in-otr-for-streetcar-mainten And of course, the lone comment on the story so far is from some old friends. Good God Mark Miller might actually have no life
  2. DO NOT read the fox 19 comments on facebook. Its incredible how angry people are who don't live even close to the city
  3. Streetcar or not, those are hot properties, which makes COAST's "complaint" that much more absurd. Which means Barry Horstman is writing an article as we speak and 700wlw is going to blast cincinnati all day today
  4. I blame the Enquirer. I'm sure they get uneducated letters everyday and its up to them to weed out the ridiculous ones. The reason they put these letters up is to garner hits from outrage. They are desperate for revenue 24 comments on that letter and probably an ungodly amount of hits. We are also going to see response LTE for Joe's idiocrisy
  5. Another slip of the tongue: the building is vacant, not abandoned. Orten has sunk quite a bit of money into it (at least the west portion of the building) trying to get tenants. Cut Horstman some slack. Do you realize how hard it is to be a biased journalist with an agenda these days with internet fact checkers all around?
  6. "Hit Man Horstman" As Capell calls him hahaha. He's so angry about the project
  7. Whats the background story with him? I recently just started following him on twitter and He seems to hate anything related to Cincinnati. Says he's a democrat but he's completely against almost everything democrats believe in Seems like an unusual fellow

Now even the Enquirer is calling out COAST for their lies: http://cincinnati.com/blogs/politics/2012/04/13/no-comment-but-a-picture/
  9. From CityBeat back in Feb: http://www.citybeat.com/cincinnati/article-24971-feb_16_21_worst_week_ever_.html This is a textbook example of what Mark Miller does on a day to day basis
  10. I like this opening line the best: "We now have a general idea of what it will will look like and one thing is clear: this is not your grandparents' streetcar" http://www.local12.com/news/local/story/Cincinnati-Streetcar-Design-Chosen/EsZfxbk_E0WvKiBfiq3FwQ.cspx
  11. And who is emotionally unstable enough to even want to try. Brace yourself for some serious run on sentences. I apologize beforehand: Surely you guys aren't suggesting someone from a right wing fringe group organization devoted solely to stopping a project not even in their city would stoop to such odd levels...There's no way I'd believe anyone who told me a certain portly individual from this very same organization would stoop to such unusual levels in a hell bent personal vendetta against a public infrastructure project consuming his life that was voted on twice by fake voting thousands times with his feminine arthritis crippled hands destroyed from years of tweeting ridiculous and childish insults. I mean, get real guys. What's next? You are going to suggest a ludicrous story about how he signs in with many screen names on this very forum to harass other forum members both privately and publicly? Are you going to suggest that he'll say the streetcar is worse than 9/11 or that only 'terrorists love streetcars'? What a ridiculous notion
  12. Here are some of the CAF streetcars in action in Seville Spain. There its called the MetroCentro:
  13. No, I'm not kidding. I really did try it. The reason I tried it was to see if it was really a problem. Honestly, I fell pretty hard, and was surprised. Again, please tell me you have video...
  14. Please tell me you have this on video
  15. You might not want to do that again. Some media outlet might pick up on it and publish it as if it were real. I recall an article from The Onion that was picked up by a Chinese news agency and published. There was a congressman from somewhere in the south that believed the Onion's "Abortionplex" story so I guess anything is possible.
  16. Duke Energy now requesting fortified 'Barrier Wall' around streetcar tracks 4/3/12 Larry Worstman Fake Cincinnati Enquirer Its no secret that Duke energy and the City of Cincinnati are in a dispute over utlity and gas issues, specifically the safety distance away from the streetcar tracks as well as the safety distance from Lark Liller of COAST after he eats mozzarella cheese sticks from Applebees. In regards to the streetcar, Duke has been demanding an 8 foot safety distance from the tracks that no other system in the known world abides by. But now Duke Energy officials have upped the ante. They are now requesting a 10 foot tall barrier wall around the streetcar tracks. "We feel it is in the safety of our employees to build a fortified 10 foot wall barrier along streetcar track lines" Ohio and Kentucky Duke Energy President Tulley Manson says to Jill Wunningham on 700lwl. "This wall must be equipped with electrically charged fencing, barbed wire, armed guards, security cameras, electrical lighting that spells out 'Duke Energy' for 24 hours/day, a moat full of Nile Crocodiles no shorter than 6 feet in length, and a drawbridge to every stop. We are not willing to compromise on this issue" The fortified wall, Duke claims, will be needed to remind workers of the dangers that they would face if they enter inside 8 feet of the streetcar tracks. When pressed about the need of the crocodiles and a moat in addition to the other securities, a Duke energy spokesmen responded "They are just too f*cking cool". City Council member Chris Witherman agrees. "Its fiscally irresponsible to build a $110 million dollar streetcar line without responsibly building a $1billion 10 foot tall fortified wall with Nile crocodiles around the line first. I do not think the streetcar is a great use of taxpayer money unless it can directly benefit me politically and financially." Negotiations have been rough between the city of Cincinnati and Duke Energy. In the last meeting behind closed doors, Cincinnati City Manager Wilton Cahoney blocked numerous eye pokes and then proceeded to taunt Duke Energy by stating "nyuk, nyuk, nyuk". The Duke official responded with "Why you lil..." and proceeded to play The Benny Hill Theme Song on his Ipad. Then, in an incredible moment of slapstick comedy, the pies they ordered for lunch untimely arrived. Needless to say, it was ugly for all involved. These recent demands by Duke energy have frustrated streetcar backers. "I should have seen it coming" Rail proponent Juan Schieber says. "I remember I offered a Duke representative a diet coke once and he demanded I pay for a straw to drink it with. I knew right then we could have some difficulties. We'll get through this though"
  17. Lets start taking pictures and posting them in a new thread devoted to Duke's hypocrisy
  18. The Enquirer could write an article about how banning Nic Cage movies can cure cancer and people would still complain. In fact, 700wlw would say your freedom to get cancer is being taken away
  19. Its been quiet, way too quiet, from people like Chris Smitherman, Luken, Miller, Finney, and 700wlw.... They are plotting something. It may end up being a bright pink fanny pack full of Nati Light while listening to S Club 7 sleepover but they are up to something.
  20. Surprised COAST hasn't started collecting signatures to ban all people with German heritage from city limits
  21. I'm sure you guys have seen this or know this but Portland's streetcar is pretty cool in that it doesn't entirely stay on streets...Like some of you guys are advocating. Ideally, something like this going through UC's campus would be great. Don't know about the logistics or practicality though Portland Streetcar By the way, I'm hearing COAST may try another ballot initiative. This one in regards to preventing SORTA from 'raising taxes to pay for the streetcar boondoggle'

He's trying to gain public support "Apparently blindsided by the move, Kasich said he was 'extremely disappointed' that lawmakers appear poised to favor the oil and gas industries over the residents and small businesses of Ohio." -- Riiiiight. A man who knows everything about everyone in the political field apparently has no idea what some of his best friends are doing and it just happens to be an issue like this
  23. 'Duke's streetcar claim might be crumbling' http://www.citybeat.com/cincinnati/blog-3126-dukes_streetcar_claim_might_be_crumbling.html

If COAST was in charge of Cincinnati politics, they'd level the entire city and build one enormous Applebees. A pyramid shaped skyscraper of epic proportions that would be the lowmark of civilization for centuries to come. Future societies would stumble upon our region and immediately face palm Inside the Great Pyramid of Applebees, the streets would be paved with mozzarella cheese sticks. Lightposts would be made out of loaded potato skins. Currency would be in the form of french fries and every mile you drive, you encountered a toll booth in the image of Chris Finney opening up his left pocket wide enough for you to throw a couple fries in. Streetcars and schools would be built for bathroom usage only. 700wlw would be constantly blaring at maximum volume and anyone caught not listening would be locked in a room and forced to listen to Chris Smitherman talk about himself for hours Jake would be imprisoned. LivingInGin would be Mark Miller's personal chauffeur. KJP would be forced to run a COASTOhio Board and kick out anyone who is for the streetcar or rail. Yours truly would be made to have a twitter handle of "CoastNeverLies". And Cincycapell. Poor Cincycapell...That is just too unimaginable for words. Mallory and city council would have to compete in Petition Signing Gladiator Games Law would be ruled by charter amendment but since none would pass by vote, there are no laws except one. Line Chris Finney's pockets with Applebees fries Just an awful society to imagine
  25. Believe it. Shortly after I created "FakeCinEnquirer" via twitter, I heard a knock at the door. I looked through the peep hole to see one of my neighbors. As I unlocked the door, an angry voice yelled "Get Him!" The last thing I remember was Carolyn Washburn pointing at me to a bunch of goons and I was chloroformed before I knew what hit me I came to in the basement of an abandoned building tied to a chair. The stench of ink and misinformation rippled through the air. Blindfolded and cold, I screamed for help. But My pleas went unnoticed. Suddenly, the blindfold was ripped off. To my horror, none other than Barry Horstman was inches away from my face. I begged Carolyn Washburn to help but it was to no avail. I tried my best not to look at him I truly did. But His cold, dark, glossy eyes ended up glaring right through me like that Cyclops character from XMen. I was helpless. "Do you know...why you are here" The dramatic pause made it seem more...well...dramatic. I trembled with fear. "If its about me burning the DVD of Wedding Crashers in college, I lost that DVD shortly after! I never even got to see it. In fact...." "SILENCE" His scream echoed for seemingly minutes off the walls Barry nodded at Carolyn Washburn who brought over a big carry out bag with that unmistakable smell. "Is that.....What I think it is?" I asked Carolyn. I was truly frightened. She smiled, nodded her head, and proceeded to pull out Mozzarella cheese sticks from Applebees. The rest of the story is just too difficult for me to tell. But lets just say that is the reason for my name change via twitter.
