  1. Taft's Brewporium to close its doors for good on December 29th. https://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/crime/2024/12/04/tafts-brewing-co-under-new-ownership-brewpourium-to-close/76763209007/
  2. To emphasize what has already been noted, I can confirm there is no parking planned between Station Way and the main building entrance.
  3. I've seen this building in person (driving down the street in front of it), and while it's not the most amazing buiding I've ever seen, I feel it looks better from street view than the aerial image posted above.
  4. I believe Mead was a Fortune 500 company when they left the Dayton area about 20 years ago?
  5. I had to go in the Tri County Mall last week to go to LensCrafters. LensCrafters is located in the (former) Sears wing of the wall. It is literally the ONLY store occupied in that wing of the mall (on either floor). I briefly walked down to the Macy's wing while I was in there. That wing appeared to be maybe 30% filled at most?

How do term limits for mayors work for Cincinnati? I thought there was a two-term limit, so I'm curious as to how Mallory would be eligible to be mayor again?
  7. Yeah, if you don't fly even on a semi-regular basis, then there's no need to accumulate airline miles. On my end, my family and I fly perhaps one time per year. Some years, maybe it's twice a year, but most years, it's only one trip. And in our case, I've paid for our flights using airline miles 90% of the time over the past decade. Airline miles have lost value over the years (and have gotten harder and harder to redeem), but at the same time, the cost of a basic airline ticket hasn't gone up much at all over the past 15 years. And in terms of being looser with your money if you are paying with a CC versus cash, there's definitely merit with this argument. It all comes down to self-discipline with this. Some folks are able to do this, and others, well, they're not so good at it.
  8. United points don't expire. Delta Skymiles don't expire. American has extended their mileage expiration dates. Not sure on the smaller airlines, but I'd imagine it's probably similar. And it's actually really easy to extend your miles if they're close to expiring. There's really no need to ever have your miles in your account expire if you know what you're doing. And yes, you are missing out on CC benefits if you're making big purchases with cash. Especially if you pay your full CC amount each month.

Airbnb isn't a joke if you rent from a reputable person with with many positive reviews on the site. As the renter, if you go with a site with very few (or zero) reviews for the listing, then you are taking a huge gamble on how the place will turn out. I've rented numerous vacation rentals through VRBO/Airbnb over the years and if you stick to only considering rentals with lots of good reviews, the chances of running into issues with your stay are greatly minimized.

Cleaning costs are justified, and if you're staying in a house with multiple bathrooms/bedrooms, it's very conceivable that it would take a cleaning crew several hours to thoroughly clean and get the rental ready for the next occupant. As for the issue in not including the cleaning fee within the daily rate on Airbnb, I'm in full agreement that it would nice to see if listed in actual daily rate, but this is how almost all vacation rental sites work in displaying their price. You either need to get all of them on board to do it, or no one is going to do it. When you factor in cleaning fees, administrative fees, etc., hotels are often more attractive for short term stays (i.e., a night or two). But when all of the extra "fees" are constant (whether you stay 1 night or 10 nights), they're easier to absorb when you balance it out over more than just a night or two.
  11. If the rendering is accurate, I'm counting about 30 stories above the top of the convention center expansion.
  12. I worked on the construction project that expanded Concourse C back in 2002 - you're right when you say that that terminal (and the entire airport) was buzzing with folks everywhere during that time period. It's almost sad to see how much of a dropoff there has been since 2002 (even with the recent resurgence of the airport in recent years).

Both sides should be ashamed of their actions. It's a pretty low blow on PG's behalf to take shots at a council opponent whose wife was suffering from terminal cancer, and it's an equally low blow for Smitherman to have his wife record a message like this. Both sides need to grow up and move on from this.
  14. So you're saying Tom Brady and New England have been "lucky" by building around a solid offensive line? Instead of luck, it sounds more like a franchise that knows how to properly construct a roster by having a good line protect your most valuable asset.

It's rare that my political views align with Christopher Smitherman. Regardless, my heart goes out to him and all of his family. 48 years old is way too young to lose your spouse to cancer.
