Cleveland: Outlet Mall Proposal for Lakefront
I respect your honesty, but that’s ridiculous and not tailored to reality. You’d rather have nothing and push people to keep shopping in the suburbs than to get a development that would actually work in bringing people to shop in CLEVELAND. That’s absurd. That’ll never make sense to me, but to each their own I guess

Cleveland: Outlet Mall Proposal for Lakefront
The whole point is for it to NOT be in the suburbs. I don’t understand this line of thinking. We want retail, but not THAT retail. We want downtown retail but only the way we want it to be built. I don’t get it. I thought the objective was to get people TO shop in the city.

Tower City is gonna be the blockland thing. Your other idea is interesting but I don’t know if there’s enough land over there to build what they want. And the entry/access points would be tough too. If it was workable, that’d be an interesting idea

It’s really just that simple. This isn’t complicated. That location allows you to build a freakin outlet mall in downtown Cleveland. I really think people don’t appreciate what this is going to do. People who live in Cleveland will use it and it’s going to be a draw for suburban shoppers, really the only way in today’s market that you can draw suburbanites into downtown shopping. This thing is going to work. I personally think it’s brilliant

Cleveland: Midtown: Development and News
Has nothing to do with med mart (totally different neighborhood). And if you read the article, heavy hitters are already a part of it. This isn’t speculative. Also, MidTown Cleveland aren’t any slouches. They aren’t going to be part of a dummy mission. They know what they’re doing

Cleveland: Hough: Development and News
If it’s attracting negative elements, it’s a nuisance. I’m from the hood in Cleveland, I know that of which I speak. These things are more pressing in those communities because of the element that’s attracted to it and the people in those communities hate it. They scream more than anybody else to tear those buildings down. Ain’t nobody got 10-15 years to wait for someone to decide for it to be rehabbed, while it brings down the look and feel of the neighborhood and attracts bad elements that people who actually live in those areas have to deal with

Yup. If it’s not gonna be rehabbed quickly it has to come down. Shame we lost this building but it was a nuisance

Happy Thanksgiving!
I’m thankful for everybody that has the city’s best interests at heart. We may disagree at times with how to get there, but if the motives are pure, we’re on the same team. Happy thanksgiving everybody

Cleveland: Shaker Square: Development and News
Right now, walking to Shaker Square is probably not the best idea lol (depending on what time you’re walking and what walking path you’re taking). Heights circulator is an interesting idea. Question is if there would be enough ridership to support it. That’s more of a @KJP question but if it is, then I’m all for it

Can they just announce that they’re staying here already and put this stuff to bed?!

Cleveland: Outlet Mall Proposal for Lakefront
Outlet malls are thriving, for the most part, not closing. This is a creative way to get retail in the city. I understood it the moment they announced it. Where are you gonna plop a major outlet retail development like this in the CBD (along with providing enough parking for the shoppers)? You all complaining about it not being in old buildings would HATE what a parking plan for something like this would look like in the CBD and what buildings would be lost because of it. (And if you don’t have enough parking, you’ll suffer off the top). The closest competition for this thing is miles away. And I guarantee you there’s gonna be a lot of people shopping here and spending money in the city, pumping more money in the city (including people who stay away from the city otherwise). I thought that was the point, to have ways for people to spend more money within the city limits, to provide more resources and to get more people downtown. The target audience for this ain’t walking to a CBD attraction anyway, if they go they’re going to drive.

Cleveland: Outlet Mall Proposal for Lakefront
Y’all trippin lol. Do you guys have any idea how many shoppers this thing will draw? And how that’ll actually be a benefit for Clevelanders too? This’ll get exurbaners in the city but those of us who live in the city will be able to shop there too. I know people look down at “icky” outlet malls, but I’m telling you, this is going to be a ridiculous draw

What are you talking about? No one said anything about “the aforementioned companies sustaining an entire metropolitan area and outlying region”. I said (and it’s a FACT) that Sherwin Williams has been able to be successful for decades being in Cleveland and attracting the talent that they want to Cleveland. That’s a FACT. If it wasn’t working, they either would’ve left a long time ago OR they wouldn’t be as successful as they are today. All you have to do is look at the balance sheet to see how well they’re doing. Bottom line, if they leave (which they won’t, but if they do) they’re doing it because they WANT to, not because they HAVE to. Because they clearly don’t have to. When I complain about the low self esteem and the cap we put on our own ambitions, THIS is what I’m talking about folks. I HATE that Woe is us, we can’t compete, we’re the ugly girl at the party syndrome and that crap becomes a self fulfilling prophesy. Yes the region has our problems. No one on this forum ever denies that. But damn it this is still a great city and a great region and we CAN compete. Stop acting like we can’t. SHW literally became a billion dollar business and have been in Cleveland since their founding. They’re winning right now. Stop being scared of our own damn shadow and believe in yourselves, for ONCE.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
This annoys me. SHW has been in Cleveland 100 years. They’re a billion dollar business RIGHT NOW. Clearly they don’t have a problem attracting the kind of talent they need or A: they wouldn’t be as successful as they are now or B: they would’ve left a long time ago

Our civic low self esteem is one of the biggest impediments to our success. It’s hard to achieve greatness when you have a self imposed cap on what you think you can accomplish. We’ve got to stop this.

@KJP any idea on when they’ll announce publicly?

It’s technically tomorrow now. Can we have the news?! Lol ??

If SHW isn’t on the Jacobs lot, the new JC probably will be, love it or hate it
