It is really interesting in the previous renderings and videos that they showed the Cleveland skyline off to the east in the distance. This time around they do not even show the city skyline. That could be like what Ethan mentioned above that this side that is visible from the airport is nothing but a sea of surface parking and does not look too pretty. Either way, this latest PR stunt shows they are not at all interested in the City of Cleveland.

This. Baltimore just has so many more options when it comes to their waterfront amenities than Cleveland currently has. Everyone thinks Inner Harbor, but then you have everything to the SE in Fells Point. This development we are discussing is in a forgotten point away from downtown separated by dense rowhome neighborhoods, a rail line/freeway.

It was my understanding that the Reeves building would be torn down according to reports from late last summer. Maybe that is still a part of the plan, and the new hotel will go in its place. The new hotel seems to be taller than the Reeves building.

They are still planning to incorporate the buildings/facades along 4th Street, right? I did not think their demolition was a part of the plan.

I couldn't tell you about GCP or the others, but Team NEO is the Northeast Ohio branch of JobsOhio (there is also the newly formed Lake to River along the Pennsylvania border). If there is a project in mind, local economic developers will work with Team NEO staff, and when state incentives become a part of the picture, they reach out to JobsOhio and try to see where they can assist. These regions are a part of the JobsOhio realm, they just have a better idea of what is happening on the ground in their local areas and can report back to the leaders in Columbus who make the funding decisions.

I agree. Did not want to say anything with the chance of sounding too negative, but Marchionda just isn't doing good for downtown like he once was (which I know has always been questionable). Anything they do put up on this property will most likely use terrible materials and be only a few stories. I would rather serious thought go into making this be something special versus being a new Enclave 2.0. There are some great projects happening nearby like the Huntington building restoration and 20 Federal Place. I hope the building materials and land use fit into the overall Federal Plaza when submitting renderings and plans.

Maybe I am missing something here, but I don't see anything specifically mentioning Anduril or Greater Cleveland sites as of the most recent posts in this thread.

Ugh, move already. Go somewhere else. Focus on somewhere you will be happy in then. The incessant whining about how downtown Cleveland is this terrible place is annoying, even to us who usually just lurk the site. I don't even live in the Cleveland CSA, but I can tell you, Cleveland's downtown is no worse off then every other peer city in the eastern Great Lakes region, interior NE and Midwest. My office was along the Boulevard of the Allies in Pittsburgh... go read about how businesses are leaving, crime has gone up, and storefronts are becoming vacant - it's a narrative that so many cities seem to be focusing about lately in the news.

To be fair to TeamNEO, there just isn't large assemblage of land in Northeast Ohio like you can find in other parts of the state. It's just more heavily developed in this part of the state with different mixed uses. JobsOhio uses many site tools that local entities constantly keep updated and will send out an RFI to all local entities no matter where they are in the state to see if they have the proper utilities the company is looking for, including land, buildings, etc. They also give them tacky names like this new Anduril project - Project Thor. I still question a lot of JobsOhio and TeamNEO, but if you don't have the land, don't expect these big sprawly data centers popping up like you see elsewhere.

For Philly or Cleveland? There is a Gateway parking garage in CC that I park in when I am staying in Philly sometimes. Just curious.

Not sure if this is the right thread, but has anything been happening at the Kroger Bakery site? The redevelopment plans for that were extremely transformative. I haven't seen much on that project and I was just curious.

I will say being in Youngstown, most people here prefer to fly out of PIT versus CLE because it just seems like a better all around airport. It is very easy to get in and out of, and with the new terminal, it will be that much better. Hopefully CLE gets some drastic improvements in the near future.

The owners of the building have completely destroyed a section of downtown. What a disgrace.

^Exactly. I was just going to say, this area has absolutely no sidewalks to get to other areas. The only sidewalks are the ones that were put in when they built the new townhomes. That is the problem with the entire South Avenue corridor - no sidewalks. The same thing goes for 224 east of the Southern Park Mall and west of Market Street along the same corridor. I believe a lot of that will change when ODOT comes in to make some safety improvements in a few years. Right now any time a new business or new construction goes in they put a new sidewalk out front, but it's just a bunch of sporadic sidewalks along heavily traveled corridors.

I moved into Fenn Tower in the 2009/2010 year. It was fairly new (dorm interiors) with some pretty nice updates, including some of the ground floor space/amenities. I am really surprised this seems to be the current case.

They have the heavy equipment out to tear down the building. The current owners did absolutely nothing to try and save this building. More than anything, now that we know the building will be coming down, I want to know what the future plans are for the site whether that be hearing from the owners or the city making sure some of use comes of this parcel.

You did a great job of capturing so many good projects in that photo - like all the density along the Superior Viaduct and new density heading west on Detroit, the new growth taking place on the Scranton Peninsula. Also a good view of what how nicely new development will fill in along West 6th and St. Clair.

I was downtown last Friday for the Simply Slavic festival (they moved it to the amphitheatre after the explosion on East Federal) and I know they had reports of a potential gas leak that day. Most of the businesses that evening were closed, but it was so disappointing to see downtown closed on a Friday evening outside of the festival (which was well attended considering the events of the day). It's so frustrating to watch the current administration completely fail downtown like they are. I know certain members of council do not get along with the mayor. The Public Works Department is an embarrassment every time they are on the local news discussing the Smart2 roadwork improvements. Businesses' patience is going quick, and they I fear all of the progress that has been made in downtown Youngstown over the last decade or two will be lost because the current administration just doesn't understand what is at stake. Losing the Realty Tower will be a huge loss for the city. Losing the residents, storefront space on the square, and not needing more empty space downtown. If this comes down, it will become a parking lot. Youngstown is being failed by the leaders who are here to improve the quality of life. I just met with the contractor who is doing the roof work on this structure. He is doing another project in Northeast Ohio for me, and mentioned he would be moving to my project when this was completed (sometime in early July). Seems like it might be a pretty quick job. I am not up in Cleveland to know if roof work on this has started. Anyway, he said the developer does a great job, and does not go cheap on his projects.
