  1. ah gotcha - looked through the thread and at first didn't see it. here's hoping it goes through <crossing fingers>! I'd love to see the lot across the street developed as well, seems ideal as you already have a parking garage behind it. Years back there was a proposal, but nothing came out of it. Hopefully this one doesn't have a similar fate.
  2. This posted here yet? Zero info about it though, but form the post - "Detroit developer Woodborn Partners expects to start construction sometime this year or early 2026." 14 Story apartment building coming to 40 E Long Street downtown : r/Columbus - from Reddit -
  3. So far, the symphony has "identified and committed" $27 million in private funding, leaders said. They hope to fund the project with roughly $133 million from private sources and $140 million from public sources and revenue bonds. per the article
  4. My first thought for the grocery store is Lucky's, but then again they are opening a store in Harrison West/VV. Maybe and Aldi's (been on an expansion kick recently) or GE Market District (like Bexley)? I'm doubtful Kroger has much interest. And then the usual wish for trader joes, but I'm doubtful that's a possibility. Looking at the site map, lots more room for future tower(s). I'd prefer two 20+ story towers vs a single 30+ story tower, we need to fill in the holes in our skyline. Interesting to think that 15 years ago the urban projects were maybe 3-4 stories (LC), then 5-7 (all over the place), seeing 10+ being built now, along with a couple 20+ built/proposed - heck of an improvement!
  5. And now the dispatch - Grocery store, 24-story apartment tower, huge Pins planned for Peninsula in Franklinton
  6. "Our brand has evolved in the 10 years since we first opened," Allen said. "We've been making these great, grand entertainment venues and we felt it was time to come back to downtown Columbus." Rise Brands isn't abandoning the Pins site downtown. Allen said the company will open a new concept in that building, but isn't yet ready to share details. It could also reuse the 16-Bit space, but haven't decided yet. Actually, this if from a different article - Pins Mechanical moving from downtown to new Peninsula hotel project
  7. The OG pins (AND 16 bit) are closing per the article in 2025 - but will open a new concept in that space
  8. A couple photos of the mystery GY building going up on 1st taken from the top of the garage
  9. There appears to be some new construction going on over at GY yard, but not sure if it's a building or just utility work - any ideas? They closed the street on 1st between bobcat/yard as well as covered up the sidewalks (likely to protect them). I also snagged a couple photos of the new mixed use building wrapping up.
  10. Man, this actually looks really good! Kinda surprised they even kept the old AAA office; I wasn't expecting that level of renovation. That parking lot with the chain link fence and barbwire is rather unsightly - I'll be happy to see it gone. I'll enjoy watching this one go up!
  11. Attempt number two is now in the works. Half of the site will be used as office for Roby Development (renovated - in progress) and the other half will have 9 condos (screen grab below). Looks like a 3/4 story building along 3 and scaling down to 2 once it hits the alley. Per rumors of Facebook, the 5XNW commission voted to approve the plan on 12/7. GH residents are less than pleased ....
  12. ^ very true - however GH residents also were successful in killing off a 4-story project on 3rd Ave at the former AAA site even though the project was 100% in Columbus - ugh
  13. I believe the new building is just the footprint of the buildings getting demo'd. I can't imagine anything ever being built Broadview on the yellow section, other than a parking lot to support the bank block - residents would go crazy! They went berserk when a 4-story building was proposed near the movie theater and that building actually followed the Grandview Ave plan commissioned by the city awhile back
  14. I definitely agree with you on GY - it's very boring and more or less dead despite being sold as urban development and is a missed opportunity. The buildings are rather bland (and hey, I like brick buildings!) but they did do a good job with the street grid and integrating it into GH neighborhood. Bridge Park is really what GY should've been, but personally prefer to see an entertainment district stay on Grandview Ave vs being built in GY. I can't help but think they over did it on the landscaping and the commercial buildings are setback too far from the road - both causes a disconnect with the street and makes it feel more suburban. Oh and the Giant Eagle is terrible, they could've at least extended the sidewalks from GY all the way to the front of the build but NOPE. The small parks (1st ave and Burr ave Parks) are nice though and add a bit of character. That being said, I did notice the new residential building going up is NOT BROWN BRICK! It appears to be black, yay (the small things). There is also some small mystery building going up on Yard and 3rd, probably just a 1 or 2 story building as the foundation is just a slab. Also, the Swan St connector to Twin Rivers drive is now open as well.
  15. Looks like this went before the 5xNW commission several months back. From what I understand, both buildings coming down. New building .... 5-story, 75 units vs 3-story, 30 units - that's I'll I know so far. Haven't seen anything else yet.
