Cleveland: Flats East Bank
This might turn out to be bigger than we thought. If the second phase is to going along as planned, the flats will have a casino (Phase II of Horseshoe) and this high scale neighborhood with a lot of entertainment. This will definitely be a draw for visitors. why should you come to Cleveland? well, you can go to the flats for live entertainment and gambling; you could go to the rock hall for more music if you still want more. Tired of music and want some campus appeal? well, you could go to uptown Cleveland and visit MOCA and mingle with College kids . . . . I could go on and on. This is really exciting. It is great to be living in Cleveland at this time of its resurgence. Cleveland Rocks!

The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
University Circle in CLEVELAND is listed as one of the prettiest neighborhoods in America by Forbes.com! "With a symphony orchestra, an art museum, a natural history museum and planetarium, and a botanical garden, Cleveland’s University Circle offers a wide and exciting array of ways to pass the time, enjoy some high-end food, or consume world-class culture, all within a walkable area of town that features three notable colleges. “People from the neighborhood kick off summer with Parade the Circle, a cool mishmash of people wearing artfully made costumes and paper-mache masks,” says Williams. “It is beautiful any time of year, but I was there last October, and the fall color was astounding.”" http://www.forbes.com/pictures/efel45lkj/university-circle-cleveland-ohio/

The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
From a poster on Cleveland.com: "Hmm. One of Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital's top surgeons left for Boston. Now one of the Cleveland Clinic's top heart surgeons is leaving even though the Cleveland Clinic leads the nation in heart care. I don't know the reasons, but as Cleveland continues to go down the tubes in every quality of life category imaginable, and as the population drops so fast our heads spin, I've wondered if the top hospitals in town would be able to keep their best young talent. Well, maybe the casino monopoly will save the day (LOL)....." http://www.cleveland.com/heart/index.ssf/2012/01/popular_heart_surgeon_dr_gonza.html What sought of logic is that? Just because two doctors are leaving town to pursue other opportunities means that Cleveland's quality of life is going down? I want to believe that these posters are drunk or people trying to post nonsense just to pick a fight on the website. :wtf: :wtf: At moments like these do I pray for internet censorship for morons like this poster.

Cleveland: MOCA
"The mockup was built to simulate a corner-section at the top of the building. The mock-up for MOCA Cleveland was completed in June of 2011, and a few images of the architects' visit are featured below." - http://www.azahner.com/portfolio/moca-cleveland

Cleveland: University Circle (General): Development and News
MuRray Hill, I suspected it was you; at least someone from UO (with all that knowledge). I was the black guy siting close to the front. I really appreciated your response to the lady who was trying to downplay the who idea of having relatively cheap food options at Uptown. It was nice having you there!

Cleveland: University Circle (General): Development and News
I was at the talk as well. Interesting observation: the demographic seemed very old. Is this a reflection of the average age of the residents of UH if you control for students? Another question. And this might apply to other development areas in Cleveland as well. It seems that most of these projects that are being planned have a lot support but funding seems to be the issue...an example is the CWRU bridge. Why can't the university and UCI seek the the financial support of a donor and name it after them?

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
Note to moderator: Move this post to its appropriate topic heading if there is one for Cleveland Business updates. There is an argument to be made that for Cleveland to reach its full potential, its citizens and institutions should act as its ambassadors. Many have not heard of the gem that is Cleveland. And for those who have heard, some have a negative idea of what Cleveland is today. Luckily, there is at least one major institution, that I know of, that is doing its part to show the world how great Cleveland is: The Cleveland Orchestra! They have major concerts around the world; and they do their part in casting Cleveland in a positive light with their music. Lately, it appears that they are trying to woo business into investing in Cleveland. My only hope is that other institutions with roots in the region follow this example. A better Cleveland is good for all. Competition is good! Bellow is a link to The Cleveland Orchestra blog that talks about their recent campaign. http://www.clevelandorchestrablog.com/2011/10/cleveland-orchestra-and-team-neo-in.html

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
When life (Medical Technology Companies unwilling to sing on) gives you lemons, you make lemonade. http://www.clevescene.com/cleveland/take-your-pill/Content?oid=2752083 The new direction being taken by MMPI might not be a bad idea. If the medical mart project is unable to attract the right number of medical technology companies, then why not turn to medical continuing education. It makes sense: we have great medical institutions right in the city; they have great reputations. The Clinic, UH and VA could take up spaces and hold seminars, conferences that will attract people to downtown and the city. This might not have been the intent; but it is not a bad idea. What do you think?

The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
Thanks for welcoming me to the forum. I had visited the forum for a while before joining and I couldn't have made a better choice. With regards to my forum name, just like you, it is my initials. I have come to learn more about the city; both its faults and its many wonderful attributes. It pains me a lot that people tend to focus on the negatives. I am beginning to fall in love with the City and I hope to live here permanently after I finish my studies at Case.
