Show a pic of yourself!
Jeff, as you can easily see from the pic, I'm an old, fat, short, white guy. Despite MayDay's claim, not even my own wife wants me. My lot in life has come down to making sure my daughter has the best upbringing I can give her and is happy with her life. Not trying to sound noble or anything, just being a parent. :-) of course she may end up in a cult and impregnated by an outlaw biker :|

The Steps of Cincinnati
Whew, that's a lot of steps (I'm worn out just looking at them). Cool pics, especially that little house 4th from the bottom, but it must be a b*tch moving in or out of there, and groceries can't be fun either. Thanks for the pics and unique subject.

Coldayman is MISSING!!!
I think I saw him on America's Most Wanted. Something about imitating a photographer. He's keeping a low profile doing landscape work.

Where is Home?
Near the Chesapeake Bay (Chesapeake Beach/North Beach area of the western shore). I work in downtown DC. :-)

Where is Home?
I've lived in too many places. My heart is in Ithaca, but my butt is in Maryland (outside DC).

Medina, Ohio
The words quaint and homey come to mind, very nice tour, thanks.

Lima, Ohio...revisited
I think you have a point there sir. I think Steubenville may be in the worse shape (at least to an outsider), and Lima has the most urban downtown, but I do like the old gems on all 3 downtowns. Btw, thanks for the pics Mister Good Day.

Wheeling (Part II)
So many gems there awaiting renovation. I'd love to pick a bunch of that city up and transfer it to places with tight housing markets. The money would sure fly then. Wonderful set of pics ColDay, though I do have some concern about that 'burgh place which is trying to sneak into the thread. Thanks.

Wheeling (Part I): Downtown
I can't help myself, I love the place. Great old buildings (many in need of rehab or at least a scrubbing). Anda definite urban look and feel in a tight area between hill and river. Nice shots ColDay, thanks

Where do you live?
Kind of embarrased to admit I live in a fairly rural ex-urb of Wash DC. I'm in Maryland 2 miles from the Chesapeake Bay. Here's a pic of me and part of the house from a couple of years ago: It's a 20 year old split foyer, in the woods at the end of a cul-de-sac. So much for my old urban ways. I guess marriage and parenthood will do that to ya sometimes.

Elyria, Ohio (city 27 of 27 in my tour)
Very cool pics Summit. I had seen some old post card pics of the city, but nothing recent. Looks like a lot of the buildings from the 30's still remain. Thanks for the tour.

Where you went to school, what do you do?

An introductions thread...
^ I do, I do. Actually, I love all ( well most) smaller cities. Ohio seems to have a wealth of them. I like the big cities too, but they seem to be pretty well represented already. So many cities to see, so little time to see them.

An introductions thread...
Very impressive resumes all. Gotta get a look at that book MayDay. I'm Tom, and was born and raised in Ithaca, NY(surprised eh?). I was in the Navy for 4 years, and eventually graduated from Penn State. I've been working in property management on and off for over 20 years (oh yeah, I'm 52 years old). I currently manage a large (600,000 sq ft) Fed Govt office building in downtown DC. Keeps me busy. I'm married to a much younger gal (I know she'll outlive me, women always do). We have a 14 year old daughter who is the light of my life. My main hobby has become cities (visiting and taking crummy pics  ) I also enjoy model railroading and reading. Yeah, I've turned into an old fart, but isn't that what I'm suppose to do? Anyway, I like this forum and hope to see it continue to grow.

My hometown PORTSMOUTH
Great tour. Portsmouth does seem to be one of those "what could have been" cities. I've been meaning to visit the place since I stumbled across some pics on the net a couple of years ago. Here's a link to some old flood of 1937 pics: http://www.portsmouth.lib.oh.us/images/1937flood/1937flood.cfm Thanks for the tour.
