^I know people, locally, who enjoy him as an entertainer but think he is a complete buffoon. That people, locally, think he is the persona he puts forth is absolutely amazing. and sad When I say he was respectable was around 20 years ago.
  2. yeah, I know it's all part time, sub minimum wage, no benefits crap. The type of job growth the neocons love to brag about. But, even then, 100 people sounds like a bit of a stretch. Never thought of the over hiring strategy (and then boasting about it). sigh welcome to the 21st century.....

I agree. I don't listen to Reds games, tho. I actually remember Bill Cunningham being a respectable person handing out legal advice.
  4. Well, they seem to be avoiding Cincinnati as much as possible. Just curious, how does a fast food joint like this employ 100 people per store ?

  8. ^Springfield Memorial Hall had the shoulder to floor porcelain urinals like the one on the front page of that site. A pisser like that just kinda makes a guy feel special.
  9. ^You need to be very careful with those.

  13. Strippers say they have enough signatures to block no-touch law Group wants ballot vote on measure that would limit club hours, institute no-touch rule. By Laura A. Bischoff Tuesday, August 14, 2007 COLUMBUS — Dancers for Democracy has enough petition signatures to at least temporarily block enforcement of an anti-adult business law scheduled to take effect Sept. 4, said Sandy Theis, the group's spokeswoman. The group has collected 248,673 signatures as of Monday, which is slightly more than the required 241,366 valid voter signatures. They plan to continue collecting signatures for several weeks since often a high percentage of petition signatures are ruled invalid. If 241,366 signatures are deemed valid by the county boards of elections, voters will be asked Nov. 6 whether to repeal the law. Read More...
  14. City makes way for hospital By Samantha Sommer of the Springfield News-Sun Tuesday, August 14, 2007 The Springfield City Planning Board unanimously approved rezoning about 49 acres of land downtown to allow a new combined hospital. The board approved designating the area a downtown medical campus district at its meeting Monday night. "We've taken a large step to improve downtown Springfield and I think we're on the right track," board Chairman Robert Higgins said. City commissioners will review it next month. The city is buying properties near Buck Creek to make way for the hospital and owns about 67 percent of the area. The rezoning won't affect current property uses, which are grand-fathered. Timothy Mara, a lawyer representing Save Our Springfield, spoke against the rezoning. He urged board members to wait until they had specific development plans to review. Typically, zoning is unconditional and doesn't require detailed site plans up front, said Heather Whitmore, planning and zoning administrator. Plans would be submitted to get a building permit. 15. I listed The Phoenix (and a few places that were worse). I meant to go down again before they closed but I really didn't care. :-) I keep remembering more places but no more names. There used to be a more neighborhoody type bar in Clifton (Cinti) where the chicken wing place (BW3 ?) later went in. I remember some guy coming over to talk to me and after about 5 minutes I realized he was looking just for an excuse to start a fight. Lovely place.

For a good example of classism in action check out the threads about public stairways in Cincinnati. Particularly the Keys Crescent stairs. Cincinnati has neighborhood Community Councils that are quasi governmental organizations recognized by the city but they are not like neighborhood resident organizations at all. For another example of classism, look at the Cincinnati threads on streetcars where wealthy and middle class college students stress the importance of having special mass transit links between their college campus and entertainment districts but find, at best, secondary, the idea that special mass transit should be used to connect the chronically poor and undereducated West End with the Cinti State vocational college in an attempt to help people out of poverty through education.
  17. I can't believe the papers of Ohio don't know about this forum. I think that, if they were going to squawk, they would have done so by now.

^When you scan these things - don't let the highlights go white. Lighten the files up on Photoshop later. Think - scan flat, add contrast later.
  22. ^Well, frankly, I blame cars. People don't interact with people as much nowadays and don't know how to react as well. Got a quarter ? No, But I have a bullet that cost a quarter that I'll pop into you dang head. I mean, that just isn't logical.

  24. When they wake up from the weird, feverish, codeine induced nightmare they are now suffering - they will understand what it is to be true Republicans and they will embrace Ron Paul's candidacy and his call for reason and liberty with open arms.
