Javier's is good but you pretty much need to work downtown to go there since they are not open evenings and weekends. That hellhole in Tower Place, Margarita's, is terrible. There used to be taco/burrito stands along the street in LA that were more akin to Mr Pig's. Those are the places I am looking for.

A place called Portofino's has finally opened in Northside. There was a place with the same name on Winton Rd. (?) that met with some acclaim. Dunno if this is the same place or not. It is on Chase - west of Hamilton on the south side just behind the pharmacy.
