  1. Me too. The current route of the 17 goes up Main, thru Clifton & then thru Northside. It already hits some party areas.
  2. I thought you had an apartment.

uh, the word, "cum" has a slang meaning that may not be appreciated by Cumminsvillians. CMV might be better.

Looking at all the development at Jungle Jim's, I think that guy ought to be developing the Banks. Run the monorail across the river.... ?
  5. Thanks, Neville, it's pretty much just trees. Lifeline also has CitiCable so you can see the city clowncil meetings. (Roxanne Qualls & Tom Luken were more entertaining than pro wrestling) You get Dayton, Northern Kentucky and Cinti PBS. Dayton has lots of local history & NK has a lot of KY politics. They really put Cinti's station to shame. You get a lot of shopping & religion channels. You get all the local channels, a German/international channel (DWTV) & 12's Spanish broadcasts. & as XUMel said, the local access which any Hamilton CO resident can get on through Media Bridges. An UrbanOhio TV project would be pretty cool, if anybody is interested.
  6. Hey, Neville, Do you know how unobstructed your southern exposure has to be for sattelite ? I have a partially obstructed exposure/view & would expect any salesperson to tell me, "yeah, sure, that's fine" if it was or not.
  7. I have had Fuse/Zoomtown for a while now. I have heard boasting & bitching about Cinti Bell & Time Warner. What is fun is when they both block each other's email as spam. That hasn't hapened for a while. People seem to agree that newsgroups are better with Fuse. most people don't use 'em, tho. Upload speed is supposed to be better with Zoomtown but most people just download. My last CB repair took 4 service calls. My cable TV fades in & out over the years but I have never asked for service. You can get cable TV for about $11 a month but TW keeps it a secret. TW refused to carry oxford's tv station til Zoomtown offered it . Nice try, but their servers weren't up to the task & the service only worked on Windoze. My nephew like the Current.net service (through the power line)
  8. If you are going to pay big bucks to have somebody cook a daggone steak, you might as well pay to piss.

Are there places to buy brooms, mops, bleach, small hardware & pet supplies in the downtown area ?
  10. Is that what the construction out front is about ? seating ?
  11. Dude, you didn't visit Northside ? People in Cincinnati, like giving people dirty looks / the evil eye. I think it's funny. Cabs are uneven. I have had good luck & bad. Mostly bad. The Metro rt 17 is your friend. Getting out east is a little harder. Bicycling is ok but expect people to try to steal your unattended bike in Clifton.
  12. I usually get asked about local stuff only when I am in an area I don't know. I really liked this'n

I fairly agree with you. I do not drive. I seldom ride recreationally. I am not a fan of bike lanes as they tend to give motorists (cage pilots ?) the idea that those are the only places bikes should be allowed.
  14. Probably just about everyone who doesn't live in Cincinnati, who recently moved to Cincinnati, or who live in the suburbs and couldn't find downtown Cincinnati with the aid of a map. Never assume your audience knows what you know. Never heard of it. I always called it, "down around 12th st between Vine and Race" Gateway Urban Living Quarter sounds like a place where you would see a lot of guys in grey uniforms marching around asking for your papers.

ugh Just tried shoveling the crap it's like a rock I like the crackling sound the trees make in the breeze, tho.
  16. Thanks for the alley pic I have recently found the alleys are the way to go in ice & slush in OTR.
  17. The main street, I believe, was Main street. It was kinda truncated to the east of downtown with that one bypass, (North/Columbia ?) & that left a dead little arm of it sitting there. To the west people were rerouted to North/Columbia (?) over by the Madonna of the Trail & off of Main. I grew up there many years ago, so I am not sure of some of the street names. I was told by my parents generation it was the street to cruise for younguns. This would have been the WWII generation. THe hideous square was the core downtown block. The fountain was on Fountain Ave between the arcade (where the Springfield Hotel is now) & the old city building. Again, the fountain was before my time.
  18. It's kind of funny seeing Springfield listed as a square town since it used to be a main street town for many years. A long, long time ago there was a fountain out in font of city hall. Dunno if that would have made it a square town then or not.

Ice in the south No water for a week, heat's on for the first time since Friday, one short power outage so far tonight Say AH http://www.healingsounds.com/sounds/AH-mp3.mp3
  20. Isn't Sandusky a kind of square & compass town ?
  21. The cemetery nobody wants City heads to court to avoid responsibility for orphaned Northside graveyard BY SHARON COOLIDGE | [email protected] Cincinnati to cemetery: Drop dead. That's the message from the city to a historic Northside cemetery, according to state officials and supporters of the cemetery. Now the fate of Wesleyan cemetery, winding its way through the courts, might determine what happens when any Ohio cemetery is abandoned. ... http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070211/NEWS01/702110368
  22. Pretty soon Michael will be walking around, beer bag in hand, glazed look in his eye, cursing at something/anything . :-)

    Jimmy, those are great.
  24. Goodies has the blues ! But I see color in the PNC Bank bldg. I am surprised at the demographics as well. It seems to have fallen a lot more in the 90's. Glad it is on the upswing. I don't know if a photograph can quite capture the feeling one gets going through the neighborhood just west of the business district with all the little frame houses.
