  1. It took me a few tries to get from Northside to Pleasant Ridge. It does offer options beyond the obvious. Do any of you guys like that system map they have ?

dag It LOOKS like Italy To take a picture of the whole screen, press Command-Shift-3. To take a picture of part of the screen, press Command-Shift-4, then drag to select the area you want in the picture. To take a picture of a window, the menu bar, the Dock, or other area, press Command-Shift-4, then press the Space bar. Move the pointer over the area you want so that it's highlighted, then click. If you decide you want to drag to select the area, press the Space bar again. If you press Command-Shift-4 and decide you don't want to take the screen shot, press the Escape key. Screen shots are saved as files on the desktop. If you want to put the screen shot in the Clipboard, rather than create a file, hold down the Control key when you press the other keys. You can then paste the picture into a document.
  4. I was thinking Midas
  5. Cunningham is definitely a smart guy. His old legal help show was actually a pretty good thing. Nowadays he is just a controversialist with a right wing bent. He has really sunk pretty low. I do remember him on Phil Donahue telling the world that he would "go down to Fountain Square and....." I remember how silly he must have sounded to a national audience that had no idea what Fountain Square was. I am pretty sure he would promote the city if he could profit from it.

  11. I love these nicknames http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061006/NEWS01/310060027 Feds indict drug gang BY DAN HORN | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER Federal authorities accused nine people today of participating in a gang that sold heroin and threatened, shot or killed rival drug dealers for at least three years in Cincinnati. The gang, known as A-1 Darkside or the Grimmie Network, imported drugs from New York and intimidated those who got in their way, federal authorities say. A federal indictment unsealed today charges the accused gang members with conspiracy and drug charges. E-mail [email protected]
  12. Here is another one http://home.fuse.net/christol/ChambersMem.html The Memoirs of Charlotte Chambers Miss Chambers was the wife of Israel Ludlow. This book is a collection of letters to & from her. It is basically self published & very rare. This page is taken from an OCR scan.
  13. There was a similar thread here http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php?topic=7143.0 "Domestic Manners of the Americans" by Fraces Trollope is good. A decidedly negative account of most of America & especially of Cincinnati in the early 1830s. Waste disposal in Cincinnati ? Leave your waste in the middle of the street & the pigs will come thru & eat it overnight.

You guys are some real computer wimps. :-) NONE of you have ever rendered an animation for a week ? howzabout a 16 x 20 304.8 ppi image with 16 layers, 8 alpha channels & god knows how many paths ? How about a dozen of 'em ? due yesterday. yeah, the average internet surfer can get by on less than a 1ghz processor but Apple originally focused (with Macintosh) on the print market & later the video/animation market. These guys need robust workstations and servers. That is what Apple tries to make a reputation on.

We all pay for it one way or another. My partners usually pay with their self respect.

As to the Photoshop example I cited. I had a customer waiting on 65 170MB files. The time difference can be substantial.

Well, where are the iSight shots ? I just got the low end MacBookPro. 2GHZ Intel core Duo, 1gig RAM. Photoshop rotations were smoking a dual G4 500 1gig RAM http://www.rabidzombielust.com/revolting.mp4

  21. that place is amazing I recently found an ATM card left in a machine in a Kroger with a 5/3 branch. I turned the card in to the 5/3 clerk and, right as I did, a guy came up & snatched it off the counter, said, "That's mine !" and shot the clerk & myself dirty looks like we were conspiring to steal his checking account. Cincinnatians can be real charming.

Can you just post the name listed here ? http://www.gassigns.org/ There are some cool pics there.
  23. This graphic goes with the story above (that everybody has already read) posted by Grasscat. I would like to say that one of the reasons for one of those blobs of green in the middle of the city is active community members like Horosho.
  24. "I just read recently some very early history of the original court house, but can't remember the exact location. It had stocks and gallows nearby." In a book about the Western Hills viaduct available at the Ohio bookstore they talk about a court house being a tavern by the frog ponds on third street. (IIRC)
  25. That's what keeps going thru my mind :-)
