Neat 1912 silent movie
cool There is a pair of DVDs called Landmarks of Early Film that has a lot of old films dating back to, I think, the late nineteenth century. My favorite being A Trip To the Moon Most of the films are of a more documentary nature, however. It is neat to see pre WWI Europe.

Cincinnati's Spring Grove Cemetery, June 10th, 2006
Some nice shots - too bad it was all grey but that does give it a cemeteryish kinda feel. It is nice in every season. Things to do in a cemetery http://www.springgrove.org/sg/calendar/EventCalendar/EventCalendar.shtm I went to the Lantern Lighting last year & it was kinda lame but kinda cool. Spring Grove is seriously a cool cemetery I posted some pics here http://home.fuse.net/christol/CemPics/CemPics.html

Who is the Best Guitarist of All Time?
Not to shift gears too much - but how about the best OHIO guitarist ? The guy in Clevo ? Do I get to pick Jorma again ? Cal Collins ? Rick Derringer ? Cheetah Chrome ?

Cincinnati: OTR: North Main Street Discussion
Pretty much none of the places I frequented for entertainment when I was a young'n (Nick's age) are around anymore. Things change. You guys keep talking about Northside - one of the largest demographics there are young black people under 30. Provide them with what they want for a price they can afford & you might be able to make some money but it isn't going to last forever. They re going to get older & their tastes will change. It's the nature of he beast. Had to get a 666 day reference in there somehow.

Didn't business owners in that area get a police substation put in only to ask the police to leave because they were atracting too much vandalism ?

Who is the Best Guitarist of All Time?
In no particular order Jeff Beck Frank Zappa Eric Clapton Keith Richards Jorma Kaukonen While my interest in Clapton has waned over the years, the Cream reunion concerts really knocked me out. Those guys are not 20 yr olds anymore but still quite dynamic. Picking these guys from the 60's is also kind of problematic as they were all heavily influenced by much older guitarists who may not have had the range these guys had but were more revolutionary and innovative in what they did. And to be a total music snob prick :-) I have no idea why people think Stevie Ray Vaughn is so great. All he did was ape one small facet of Hendrix' vast range. The reason for most of my picks is that all those guys are composers as well as just players. Well, maybe not Beck. But from a guitarist perspective, he is just amazing.

You don't need to use apostrophes with plurals. You use apostrophes to indicate possession.

Is Over-the-Rhine As Bad As They Say?
It wasn't exactly in the Camp - it was at the NW corner of McMicken and Marshall. Pizza wasn't very good but it was a noble effort. This project got some press when the group lost their lease & hooked up with UC. Good luck finding anything about it in the Enquirers archives, tho.

Cincinnati: Urban Planning News & Discussion
It is my gut reaction to be against governmental agencies like this but I can see how it is kind of neccesary with a large and complex city. How much planning went on in the 19th century ?

Oh.My.God.

Clear plastic made contact with a Silver Star, a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. Cincy - 'round Central Pkwy & misc
cool That veterans memorial used to have names on metal plaques on it. Doubtless stolen & sold as scrap to support someones vice. This Family Dollar is one of the few new developments I have seen in this area in years.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
I walk behind this place almost every day. The guys sit out on an old loading dock & mouth off quite a bit. They yell at the passers by, well, at least at the girls. There are apartments with kids on streets at each end of the block. I have no idea how this concentration of fuck ups is supposed to be good for anybody.

Cincinnati Wesleyan Cemetery Memorial Day Service
The Northside-College Hill Kiwanis Club is sponsoring a Memorial Day Service to be held at Wesleyan Cemetery on Monday, May 29th beginning at noon. The principal speaker will be Jessie Willingham, a Korean War Veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart. The Kiwanis Club is trying to revive the tradition of having a Memorial Day Service at Wesleyan Cemetery now that the future of the cemetery is definitely brighter. There hasn't been a service of this sort in Wesleyan Cemetery in years. Wesleyan claims to be the final resting place of veterans of every armed conflict the US has been engaged in. That claim was made prior to Afghanistan & Iraq, tho.
